Reviews
Den skyldige (2018)
Mindblowing special effects!
If you thought marvel movies was the golden standard for special effects, think again.. Incredible, liferisking stunts that maes tom cruise look like a gutless coward, fantastic car chases all over Copenhagen, huge robots, gigantic explosions. Not to mention pistol shootouts on an even more epic scale then oldscholl john woo or the raid 1 & 2.
I would love to know the budget og this film, it must be close to the 500 million $ mark?
Idas dagbok (2014)
Raw, honest and filled with glimpses of joy
Just came back from the screening of Ida's Diary on BIFF film festival. What we witnessed was an extremely personal story through almost a decade of living with a serious mental disorder. What shines through is a strong spirit, with a great lust and wonder for life even in the darkest of times. Life is what you make with what you got.
We were lucky enough to get a Q&A with Ida, very enlightening and moving.
See this movie, it took great courage to release it, it deserves to be seen.
8 out of 10
Kampen for tilværelsen (2014)
A landmark within norwegian TV production.
It is not surprising that this show did not go down as a hit with norwegian audiences, but it still feels deeply undeserved. The cinemathography is beautiful, the acting sublime and the dialog really shines. This is a dark and absurd masterpiece, with the same twisted sense of comedy as you would find in a Todd Solondz production.
I really hope NRK understand the potensial of this show within a bigger international market. French and German TV channels should be salivating over this production. It would not look out of place as a HBO presents production.
NRK does not have plans for a physical release so watch it now, for free while you still can at NRK.no
Interstellar (2014)
Great potential ends up wasted
Having realized i have rated 1679 movies on IMDb without a single review, i think it's time to scrap this one of my bucket list. I had high hopes for this film, so why not use Intersteller for my virgin review.
What the film does well:Characters are fleshed out, nice slow burning buildup for the first hour. Captures the isolation of space and the suspense of finding foreign planets. Interesting moral dilemmas.
What the film does poorly: The last 30 minutes and the big reveal is very unimpressive and feels like a cop out. The story could have gone in so many other different directions, all of them more intriguing.
Going to keep this review spoiler free, there are a lot of bad story elements or design choices i would like to go into detail on.
All in all, a good popcorn flick. A missed opportunity, just like Gravity.
Kubrick and 2001 is still the go to movie for space exploration.
