Wiedzmin 3: Dziki Gon (2015)
One of the best games in history
It does not matter, if you enjoy mostly RPGs or not, it does not matter where you are from, it does not matter whether you have read the books or not. This game will surely grasp you and make you love it from the start ! The story itself is the key to giving this title a 10/10. The best films, the best anecdotes and the best PC games all have something in common - the STORY has to be one of high-quality and has to sound believable /even if it might be in fanstasy setting.../ This game will tell you a story that is very very emotional and emersive, to some exent funny, to some extent sad, to some extent truly grand. And those graphics - this is one more reason to play the WITCHER 3. It is simply too amazing not to see it ! The beauty and the variety of lands, buildings, faces and moves surely is more than enough. One more thing - the minor characters are smart and never out of place. Sometimes, minor NPCs build the foundations of a game, and this time it happens with a finesse that is rarely seen. The ending is the other great Yesman if you are sitting on a table and asking yourself "Hmmmm, should I play this?". The ending is not what one might expect ... So be ready to be amazed ! Not to mention, the skill tree of the main character is pretty cool, too.
The only negative feeling I had while playing this RPG was that some side quests were not so interesting and that there was too much rolling in fighting stronger enemies.
Stranger Things (2016)
Great series, great acting !
Stranger things is a product of 2016 and people should pay attention to this. It surely used old well-known elements or settings from the 1980s but I believe that people should stop thinking of films in the 80s and stop comparing it to them. Let us take a look at the series objectively and from the modern point of view ! Surely it belongs to a genre that was started a long time ago and the 1980 nostalgia exists but please do not overreact because of this fact. Analyzing STRANGER THINGS in short: 1. The most important part of a cinema masterpiece or a TV series is the script. The script is just great, keeps you interested and does not involve retarded mistakes or plot holes. Some scenes might develop in a more obvious way that I like (i.e. not so original) and some words might not be the perfect choice in some cases /IMHO at least/... Then again originality is rarer than gold these days. But to be honest the script as a whole is just fine through the whole season 1. The script here lays a great and sturdy foundation of the "family house" the creators are building. A house of mystery, fear and bravery, of action and of basic human emotions. 2. The actors are amazing. The kids are natural, Dustin in particular is just the kind of kid that people will love and the kind of actor that is acting using his talent and to the best of his ability. Winona Ryder gives us a lot of strong emotions to chew and surely lives up to the image of a movie star she had in the past /and probably never lost/. 3. The effects are probably not the maximum possible movie high-tech wonder but they look cool and fitting to the main atmosphere. I surely do not expect more of the FX team for season 2. 4. The more you watch, the more interested you are. It does not get boring. Stranger Things does not crumble because of some soap opera motives like ARROW did. 5. You just have to like kids and sci-fi to watch, if you do not like kids just get out of here. :) ------------------------------------- Obvviously it is not plausible to just talk about what I liked about Stranger Things so let me point out some weak spots: - the bad guys often behave in a stupid and inert way - the cop sometimes takes weird decisions - several things in the last episode were very unacceptable, I don't wish to include spoilers...
If Game of Thrones should get the gold medal for the best series of 2016, Stranger Things goes home with the silver ! 9/10
Wanted (2008)
Just have fun. NO great messages here. Great action.
There are different genres in cinema. There are dramas. There are family comedies. There are classical actions like Rambo. And there is this fantasy action genre that does not suit anyone. If you like fantasy, if you like seeing a lot of shooting, and if you hate your job at your stupid office-WATCH this movie. The actors are great. The jokes are not bad. The social message (typical for so many American movies in the last 10 years) is to be mentioned as well. But I leave it all to you. Prepare for a funny and wild ride. Do not look for any deep meaning. Just have fun. Angelina is not my favorite actress by all means but she is not important here. The other actors make the film better and better!
Cloud Atlas (2012)
A genre breaking unique and intelligent film
Greetings, dear art lovers! This is a complex movie for art lovers indeed because today not all films deserve to be called art. Several at start disconnected stories, set in different times, including the future /a high tech sci-fi Korea/, were represented and polished in such a professional way, that I was thinking: NO WAY IT CAN BE SO BREATHTAKING. The combination of ideas about human fate, the soul, the danger of an anti utopia future and (last but not least)the notion of how fun and how smart an ordinary grandpa might turn out to be, is indeed original and worth seeings. This move has everything in it, that is why it has no genre. It is supernatural, super complex, superbly deep. If you are a 16 year old with a developed mind you'd shout : Dude, that is the coolest movie I've seen lately! Then you would ask for your dad's advice. You would ask how he interprets all this and you would think about it seriously. ...which does not ruin the fun of course.
I am 28 and I wish I can go back in time to watch this masterpiece when I was younger, say 18. I wonder what reaction it would have stirred at that time. Are you not curious how young people feel about Cloud Atlas which is such an "adult" film ?
Under the Skin (2013)
They wanted to achieve it and they did, whatever they wanted!
Greetings. I am not sure how to analyze this film. I am not sure how I feel about it myself. In fact, I was wondering if I have to give it a 10 OR A TWO. For the first time in my life, I am not sure if I like a film or if I think it is meaning less and a waste of time.
So, I shall not jump into some 50 sentence- comment, I will just say this, briefly : 1. Professional and extremely unusual cinematography. 2. S. Johanson has to be appreciated in this film. 3. It is art that shall shake you and provoke you, and it is not important how you process all that within your own thought or whether you like such films or not - JUST SEE IT ! 4. From me it would be 10/10.
