She's in on the joke
13 September 2022
I can't decide if that makes it better or worse but for me at least it makes it entertaining instead of sad. And this isn't simply a monument to excess, it's built to be basically a modern day palace where the entire multi-generational family will live for centuries. Sadly it's extremely difficult to find craftsmen to build something like that these days, especially enough of them to complete this home properly in their lifetime. Which is probably the real lesson to be learned here.

If Jackie thinks her over the top clueless antics are funny to most people she really needs to read some reviews here, a lot more people would like her real personality more. When her daughter died she spoke very eloquently, set up charities and put in real work in her daughter's name.

Really not that bad

Basically a bunch of short films that take place in the same universe at the same time; the stories are tied together by a person or piece of technology being in two or more plot lines. The plot lines are basically mini-episodes of Black Mirror asking "wouldn't life be creepy if technology did this?" sort of thing. Supposedly the theme of these stories is supposed to evoke thoughts about the meaning of life... I didn't get that at all. To me I just thought it was an entertaining way to spend 80 minutes. Would I watch it again? Yes, actually, but with other people, not alone. These sorts of movies/shows are fun to talk about with people because the concepts depicted are fairly thought provoking even if (in this case) the movie is nothing special. It's not good but it is thoroughly entertaining so worth a watch at least once.

Fantastic, Incredible, Love It

Rewatched this because I heard they were filming a sequel and I remember really enjoying it as a teenager when I saw it in theaters. It's still amazing. The movie instantly grabs you with the visual of the passengers waking up from cryogenic sleep so you're experiencing the world for the first time right along with them. The narration tells you everything you need to know and you get a sense that you've been transported to Pandora just like everyone else. The movie itself is beautiful with some of the best special effects I've ever seen, even a decade later. The actors are perfect in their roles, the story is timeless, and the ending gave me chills. I can't wait for Avatar 2, I love this movie so much.

Surprisingly Fun
9 September 2020
I had heard of this musical for years and even though I like musicals I just thought it would be super boring. I'm not a fan of historical fiction and assumed this would be awful. Surprisingly it's a lot a lot of fun, the songs are really catchy and I found that I was really enjoying myself. As a movie it isn't incredible, but there are plenty of films that get high ratings just because of special effects, plot or acting so I guess I can rate this highly based on really enjoying the music. The acting is okay, nothing special. The story is good, mostly accurate but obviously taking some artistic license. The lighting and cinematography are mostly great but there's some times I wondered why the camera was so close to a person's face and wished I could see the other actors. The singing is phenomenal. Overall I really enjoyed watching it and l listen to the soundtrack when I cut the grass now. That being said I think this is one musical that would benefit a lot by being translated into an actual movie with proper sets and locations.
