Dexter: New Blood (2021)
New Blood
Genius first episode! Lots and lots of Easter eggs paying homage to the original - especially loved the ham in the iron skillet with the red blood "looking" sauce that matched the old opening sequence!
Lost in Translation (2003)
Brilliant
Brilliant. Starting with the script and working right through the casting, Acting, directing, cinematography, and soundtrack. This is a rare perfect movie. Those who find it boring wouldn't appreciate a great film if it hit them square in the eyes. Lost in Translation is such a deeply memorable and idiosyncratic movie.
Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
Fan of videogames.
Wreck-It Ralph is another fantastic animation from Disney. If you are a fan of videogames, you cannot afford to miss this treasure trove of nods and references. Better still, the movie has real heart and soul. And some good laughs to boot.
Groundhog Day (1993)
Campers, rise and shine!
An hilarious romantic comedy that tells a beautiful story by depicting awful truths. It's Bill Murray at his best, and it has an unquestionably powerful message that can be appreciated and, at the same time, enjoyed.
Jigsaw (2017)
This is a completely new story
The movie is exactly what to expect from the Saw franchise. The "main trap" of the movie fails to surprise, and the effect it should cause its reduced by the transitions with other scenes out of the context. I have to admit that I really enjoyed the connection with the overall plot from the franchise, mostly because of the ending.
The movie kept the same "style" as the previous movies, so if you keep your expectations based on the last movies from the franchise, I think you'll probably enjoy it
El laberinto del fauno (2006)
A pretty good movie.
This movie might come off as a traditional fairy tale directed at children during the first few minutes, but it doesn't take long for one to understand it's far from it. Guillermo del Toro truly has done a lot of brave things here, resulting in a gritty and gruesome, yet beautiful, unique and memorable story. The movie also features swell acting, a serviceable score, as well as decent visuals. The main flaw to this movie in my opinion, are some of the creature designs. Sure, they're not bad, but to make them even better, they would have needed to have more of a connection to the protagonist's mind. Some of the characters also feel very one dimensional, the captain in particular. Though, the aforementioned faults are negligible, and Pan's Labyrinth is ultimately a pretty good movie.
Frozen (2013)
Its a Pixar Film!
I really don't understand all the praise this movie is receiving. Good animation and music shouldn't be an excuse for a bad and poorly paced story. As Disney has matured over the years their story telling has improved greatly in their films. Though this is just an example of them dropping the ball. I fear that we are coming to a point where people are just simply giving out good rating because "Its a Pixar Film".
Blue Jasmine (2013)
Overrated movie.
It's an overrated movie. The only good thing in film is Cate Blanchett's acting. Elitic dialogs don't lead audience any theme.
Shichinin no samurai (1954)
Masterpiece
I love the authenticity and realism of this movie. It might be a tad long compared to today's standard but there is no wasted scene. I love the characterizations and the stories of each of the seven samurai.
T2 Trainspotting (2017)
20 years later was the disadvantage!
Okay the first film was good one. Then I thought it was unnecessary to make a sequel for it. But someone clarified that it was not made outside the novel to make money. It's indeed adapted from the sequel book of the original film's source. Though coming out 20 years later was the disadvantage. Except some praises it had received, particularly by its hardcore fans, it was average at the box office and I thought same as well.
I did not like the story. It was just a random drag, not knowing what direction to head. That's until the third act, and once all the three main characters come together, so it gets interesting with something. Like surviving from from a revenge threat. It was the actors who saved the film. Otherwise, it is not even an average as I consider now. I don't think retaining the title was a good idea, but I think it was just for its fans. Or else, a new title name would have done a decent justice to what it had narrated.
As I know, this is the director's first ever sequel and he's not getting better since his Oscar win, a decade ago. Especially the last two flicks, despite based on the very good subjects. Definitely no to the T3. Instead, I want another Oscar nod film from him. This would have been ever worse if somebody else would have made it. Yet, a watchable film, only if you had liked the first. So just think about it before going for it after seeing only positive words from a few people.
Warcraft (2016)
Really Bad Movie.
I generally liked Warcraft. The acting and visuals were fine. I felt like I was stepping into a videogame. I thought the film stumbled in that it depended on the audience knowing the backstory of the games. They provided some of the information, but the overall plot is just absent. I still have no idea why Medivh did what he did. How did he become corrupted by the Fel? It doesn't make any sense. It is just setting up the next movie.
The Help (2011)
The acting was great
It was a very good movie that depicted the lives of black maids back during the time of Martin Luther king Jr. It shows their rough lives and how a woman plans on publishing a book about their lives and experiences. The black people were treated very inhumanly in those days, sometimes seen as property. This movie did a great job at showing all of this happening. The acting was great, the history was accurate, and you felt part of their story. The ending was happy and sad, but you enjoyed it the whole time. It had many very funny scenes too!!! Many that you will be repeating for days!!!!
Get Out (2017)
No criticisms at all... You'll love it.
Reading the comments here, it's clear that the people who did not enjoy the film felt uncomfortable because the movie played on racial fear. I loved this movie. Suspsense, comedy and horror at it's best! I was asking myself , if there was anything I didn't like or thought that could be better about this movie.... and you know what... I couldn't think of anything. Jordan really did his thing with Get Out
