9-1-1: Lone Star: Pilot (2020)
"Driving from NYC to Austin Tx. there is no Desert geography."
That item from IMDB goofs for this show about sums it up. It is an entirely phony, PC dollop of dull tripe, badly done and detached from any reality except that which exists in the minds of insulated, supercilious Hollywood hacks. They can't even get the geography right, FFS. I own a home in Austin. The people behind this know Austin TX about as well as I know Sanskrit. Rob Lowe is stolid. Liv Tyler is boring. The other actors might be good if they had a decent script and direction but his isn't their oppo.Avoid this rubbish.
Black Mirror: Crocodile (2017)
A fairly good noir with technological twist until...
I doubt a hamster's memory of a crime would prove admissible in court. A border collie maybe but not a rodent. This is a twist at the end as implausible as the box of teddy bears at the end of Metalhead. The attempt at irony here is strained and shallow.
Edge (2015)
A really bad comic book
I've seen a lot of Westerns; grew up on them, and watched the genre evolve over the years from John Ford to Sam Peckinpah and Clint Eastwood and to the postmodern revisionist dreck that now clutters the Hollywood production schedules. The Wild Bunch remains one of my favorite movies. In brief: Edge sucks. Monumental suckdom. Simple as that. Some interesting actors, sure: Max Martini, Bill Sadler, and Yvonne Strahovski though Ryan Kwanten and Beau Knapp are juvenile and subpar, worse than the worse spaghetti Western bit players. But on the whole this movie is violent, vile, senseless, and absurd with awful dialog and a hackneyed plot twist at the end (which I won't reveal and which I advise you not to wait to see). Skip it.
