Flashpoint: Haunting the Barn (2009)
Superb
This episode vaulted the series into the category of serious quality drama. One of the finest examples of writing, directing and acting I've ever seen on tv, and I watch a LOT of tv.
Without Remorse (2021)
At least the acting doesn't suck
This movie doesn't even REMOTELY RESEMBLE Tom Clancy's book. It's an ok action flick but that's the best praise I can give it. What a disappointing "reimagined" butcher job.
Blown Away (2019)
If you love Forged in Fire you'll love this!
What a phenomenal introduction to the art of glass!
The "challenges" squeeze the toothpaste out of the tube and offer the artists myriad ways to shine. I, personally, am a hands-on artisan in leather, steel, and light so what's best here for me? The incredible manual dexterity PLUS the scientific knowledge these artists and artisans have mastered to compete at this level.
I'd like the episodes to be double the length they are so that I can see more and learn more. This show could learn a lesson from Forged In Fire and add much more on-screen explanations of the tools and techniques being used! I'm fascinated by this entire vast array of techniques and I see a sincere cross pollination of skills between glass and steel!
Furthermore as a professional lighting designer I am in a position to appreciate how glass affects light and how light affects glass and how the two can conspire to create unexpected art.
As a gunsmith I absolutely appreciate the manual skills involved: they may not include many machines but that magic touch that both disciplines require cannot be denied.
The Expanse (2015)
Wannabe BSG
Fifteen minutes into the first episode I didn't decern any quality actors. Then, there's the visual aesthetic which is a pathetic rip off of BSG. How this poorly acted and poorly lit POS got four seasons is beyond me.
