I feel betrayed
1 November 2019
I thought this was going to be a completely different movie. Fight for survival against the odds with some moderately hard sci-fi. Nope it's more like the insanity of Event Horizon and creepy erotica of French porn had a baby. Actually it wasn't even that interesting. How could it be that boring when it's so bizarre? I'm giving it two stars because they did a great job making the sets and special effects on a budget and the actors did their best with that script.

That wig needs a role credit

Acting was decent but obviously strained during emotional peaks. Special effects and death scenes were surprisingly good, though a bit too gory. Better directing could have built up the suspense better so some of the gore wouldn't have been needed. Story was a bit predictable but decent. It's definitely better than I expected for a low budget indie film. Perfectly fine for a lazy day movie marathon.

Monotonous

Dysfunctional family, overbearing patriarch. There's not even an interesting twist just flat acting throughout. Poor Tim Daley getting desperate for roles.

Surprisingly engaging

I shouldn't like this movie. The writing and acting weren't great, but some how it kept me interested. I think it was the children working together and supporting each other that endeared me to the movie. It felt quite genuine and warm even with the relatively flat reading of their lines. It was also nice to see a positive Native American representation.

Confusing and erratic

I loved the premise and the concepts were intriguing, but it was so poorly written and edited. There were too many cyberpunk tech horror themes crammed in, but none of them were developed well. Since the themes and characters weren't developed well all the scenes felt so jumpy as it just kept cutting to one disparate scene to another or suddenly the characters level of emotion or direction had changed. Then there was weird sexual undertones that I haven't even processed yet lol. The director of the operations was so creepy, felt like he was going to molest everyone, so maybe he was actually well casted if that was his role. The monopoly scene was so weird, I was waiting for a pillow fight to break out. The acting was so over the top that it ruined any potential payoff on the jumpy scenes. Music selection was odd, it felt like It should be playing in an indie coffee shop and a lot of times was used as a transition. I wanted to like this film and I tried to be understanding of its limited indie budget but it's just so bad in many ways.

So much potential

Wow this is painful. I thought the movie was dubbed in English at first, because the voice acting is so stiff and monotone. The music is so obnoxious. It's so overdramatic and it often overpowers the dialogue. The story is rather disjointed, I'm hoping it was more due to poor editing, but I doubt it. Maybe they were trying to go for some kind of experimental style? I'm giving it a two as the production value for the sets and special effects were high. Unfortunately it just can't make up for the rest.
