Star Trek: Discovery: Life, Itself (2024)
The writers should never be allowed to write another story
While there were minor improvements with the story telling, it galls short on many levels. The ending implies over the top power and understanding to be discarded without a minute of introspection.
Some of the characters should have been written off, the actors were poor. While others who were minimized with great skills for the lesser actors.
Long dialogue during emergencies has plagued this series.
The constant pandering to spacific groups instead of finding great actors for episodic support.
What should have been an easy slam dunk, was given 5 seasons only to ruin this and almost bury the entire franchise.
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
More please
I am not sure why this did not continue. There is a lot of brain food to feast on. I found it thought provoking and humourus at times. Relying on that instead of overly graphic animation.
The theory basis is something I have considered myself. As individual or as the short story "the egg" also implies. One experiencing many existences.
I really only wrote this review to pleed for more episodes. It seems there is a habit of dropping the more intellectual programs after one or teo seasons. Frustrating when one invests time in the shows. They could at least offer a short ending to them and wrap them up.
Oh look I have made the number of characters requirements, now I can go.
Enjoy the show if you haven't already.
Origin (2018)
Criminal this has not been continued
Frankly either sue those holding it back. Or let to go to someone who will continue with it.
Everything was very well done here. Compare this to Star Trek Discovery and it is a no brainer which show should get backing.
Design, acting, storyline, all done well above current standards.
I think I have been Concise, I'm not sure why. I have to do another 200 plus letters to post.
Maybe the writers never expected it to be this good and don't have ideas of what to do on the planet now. Or maybe maybe. Or I will just keep typing words to finish the required number of letters so I can post this review.
Reginald the Vampire (2022)
To the content
This rating was specifically given for certain aspects of content that were in the show. In my mind they were inappropriate and should be really questioned. Many probably wouldn't agree and that's fine, I didn't find the show in general so bad. However there were certain aspects that you should not be presented and seem to me to be more of a subliminal nature. They are trying to normalize eating human flesh.
Careful what you deem entertainment and what is actually programming of society to accept things that are either detrimental or Satanic and evil.
People who think my comment is grasping at straws, will see later when they introduce more and more things.
Simon Reeve's South America: Venezuela to French Guiana (2022)
A different perspective
It's a nice perspective offered in the show, some aspects not normally presented to the General Public and realities that people may not be aware of or comfortable with.
I would have liked to have seen some more information about the quality of life, cost of living, quality of living, food water resources, crime, cultural norms and oddities, oacceptance of foreigners, and other aspects. Being someone who's interested in South America in more than just a casual way. Is interesting to see how aspects that are a concern with the environment, never discussed in mainstream media. Looking forward to the other episodes to see what will be shared with them.
Nightflyers (2018)
Ahead of the audience
A lot of the concepts being introduced and the way they introduced interesting. The way it was shot was very well done. The acting was good. And sometimes we need characters to do something stupid in order to move forward with stuff. Definitely shouldn't have been just one season. And still shouldn't. For all those that complained go watch STD.
Love, Death & Robots: Jibaro (2022)
Award winning
Easily the best episode so far potentially the best animated short in years. Unique with saver to be savored in many subtle aspects. Outstanding. This team should get together again.
The Northman (2022)
Redefining with 10 Stars means
Such a detailed and twisting story very interesting. With the with the proper run time to have the depths built making it quite Epic. Was a terrific blend of the mythology mixed in not too much and very in mysterious not really expecting a lot of riding details to that.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Children of the Comet (2022)
Excellent
Excellent for many reasons. Best part Urura's character given depth. Offering a more appreciative roll for the character and initially done oh, though that was done well for the time. I'm also really glad that they kept her black and a female.
Star Trek: Picard: Penance (2022)
Best episode so far
Title says it almost all.
Skip the violence with blood and proof of kill. Finally wondering where things will lead. Instead of wondering where things are leading.
Stowaway (2021)
Time I will not get back.
Well the actors did the job they were requested to do and did that well, the writing is crawfish. The most athletic of the four people involved in this story has the hardest time with anything is physical. Making absolutely no sense except to Pander to certain groups politically. The tension is never really sat for why this is so important, though obviously logically it would make sense, it's never delivered as an emotional response to the movie. Again it's a shame the actors don't deserve any blame for Deportes of this movie. Writing and directing to me would be the culprits.
The Expanse (2015)
Best SciFi since BSG
Easily the best sci-fi shows in Battlestar Galactica. The acting director writing costume design set design everything is phenomenal with the show. Everyone should be proud that's a part of the show. Considering the show started with no history outstanding compared to say Star Trek discovery which is been so horribly done and horrible on so many levels. I thank you so much for your excellent job on the expanse.
La casa de papel (2017)
Simply thank you
All elements of this series were Blended together accidentally. From the acting, action, storytelling, that is well entwined was the character development and action scenes, story twists. Was executed with perfection, as we would expect of the professor and his group.
Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
Fire the entire writing staff and you may actually still be able to salvage this show. I don't think I can blame any of the actors for this. Though a few of them should go
The writing of the show is horrendous, the lack of understanding of the show and what it's about and what would be rational to expect of such a thing, is out of the scope of the writers. For the love of God fire them all.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
This show should not carry the moniker or Star Trek
Not only should the show not carry the moniker Star Trek it should not be a part of the Star Trek franchise in anyway.
Poor writing, overly emotional, characters are not flawed simply unprofessional. With a baseline story that could have been good, kurtzman has ruined this as well as everything else he's touched that Star Trek. Fire him! And get somebody who knows how to write Star Trek in the writing seats.
You waited till Gene Roddenberry died to do this, because he would never have allowed this. It's a disgrace.
Edit; good news it's been canceled. Now if they'd only fire the people involved in upper management.
Altered Carbon: Phantom Lady (2020)
Excellent however
Another excellent season of altered carbon. However far too long between seasons , for just Eight Episodes.
Captive State (2019)
Very enjoyable
Anyone else think this is part of the Cloverfield series?
Another Life (2019)
Because I like scifi and there is potential however ...
As one person put it, these would not be the people hired for this mission.
Hopefully the writters will make the story better, instead of writing unprofessional characters. While they may be going for more human characters, these people are not supposed to be your average person.
Star Trek: Picard: Remembrance (2020)
Swearing seriously the F-bomb.
I'm prepared to entertain different views. However, Gene. Roddenberry would never have okayed this. Shameful
Orange Is the New Black: Here's Where We Get Off (2019)
Proper
A proper ending. Loyalty to the fans.
You all did great work. Be proud
I Am Mother (2019)
Mostly female cast ..
.... and Who cares. It was done excellently. Set the stage for a sequel. I wonder if they will change into a Male lead. Maybe call it Father?🙃
Star Trek: Discovery: Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2 (2019)
Again overly dramatic, especially at inappropriate times.
Yes let us have long drawn-out conversations while ships are blowing up and people are dying. And everybody can have these conversations before they get to action and try to stop the death and destruction of everything.🙄😒
I feel sorry for the actors, to which Pike and Philipa particularly do an excellent job. Poor scripting, directing and CBS oversight, has turned what could have been an outstanding series. Into something one struggles to watch.
For those who think this is excellent, please just go back to watching your drama shows. Instead of ruining a franchise that isn't what you want by making it what you want.
Sadly I do not see me watching the next season.
Star Trek: Discovery: Such Sweet Sorrow (2019)
Poor writing and to much drama
They write Burnam like she's the captain. Her attitude is that of the captain. Yet everything she does shows she should even be in star fleet.
None of the cast is being written like professionals as well.
The writers are out of their league.
Seriously doubt I'll be watching next season. CBS is obviously run by idiot's!
Star Trek: Discovery: Perpetual Infinity (2019)
Poor understanding
Again we have a Starfleet officer who is overly emotional and can't make the right rational decisions. Frankly Michael should be stripped of title and thrown in the brig or kicked out of Starfleet entirely with her behavior. She goes down to talk to her mom, only to NOT discuss what she was supposed to and make it all about her drama and herself . Who cares about the rest of the sentient life in the galaxy.
Then we have one after another, the extended dramatic scenes during emergency situations. Let is discuss this a little more while we're in this emergency because I have feelings to address.😒
I'm trying really hard to like this at this point I would seriously doubt I'm going to be watching this for a third season. You're ruining something that really wasn't hard to follow and use, the number of extended shows from the original shows it's quite easy to get a following if you write well, and stick to the cannon. Disappointed to say the least. And anyone who isn't also disappointed is lowering their bar and/or doesn't understand what Star Trek and Starfleet actually it is.
The Orville (2017)
The humour was lost and now is found
While keeping with important points, adding the humourous aspects are great. Makes me wish the other Star Trek shows of the past were a bit more humourous.
Peeing, cigarettes, etc ..... to funny
