Guncrazy (1992)
Tarantino inspiration? probably
There's so many scenes in this film that are used in NBK and Pulp Fiction. Yes, Tarantinos scripts are better formed and ideas expanded on...but every idea has a nucleus.
So, early nineties, female director, new boundaries. It should have been given more respect, plus its got one of the guys out of Point Break playing opposite Drew! But I guess it kinda slipped into the cracks of just another coming of age, badlands story.
Saying that, it does seem this is a rinse and repeat, every generation needs young lovers rebelling against the system...Romeo and Juliet, with nipples and small arms fire.
Hungerford (2014)
You're always up against expectations
So, you know what to expect just by reading the back of the DVD, it appears to be a re-hash of the usual formula.
HOWEVER!
For these guys to of pulled off a film such as this with the resources they had is phenomenal. So yes, you do have to cut them some slack and appreciate how they went about making it.
Story wise, it ticks along nicely, there are questions which are never fully answered. The actors bring their characters to life and I've seen a hell of a lot worse come out of Hollywood.
It's landed on Netflix, so go check it out, don't expect to be wooed, just expect a good, low budget, brit Action/Horror/Sci-fi flick. ENJOY!
What the Health (2017)
What the health...What's to lose by watching it?
Simply put, this Documentary sends a very strong message. Whether you believe in that message is down to you. Personally, I found it very educational and enlightening. Kip does a very good job at providing information to the masses without being felt as if you were in a class room. This documentary will divide opinion! But, if you watch this alongside his earlier effort 'Cowspiracy' and a separate Documentary 'Plastic Oceans', I feel there is enough evidence to provide a strong argument for what are the best things for us to eat to lead a healthy lifestyle. I have changed mine due to watching these documentaries and I have never felt better. More energy, more strength, less body fat, better sleep. The question you should ask yourself is, why not give it a try? In this day and age there are so many healthier substitutes to what you love. Ice Cream?! You can get that dairy free now. Milk?! There are plenty of dairy free choices. Protein from Meats?! You can get all your protein needs from Vegetables, fruits and nuts. I've been hit by all sorts or negative comments from friends about my new, life choices and I do not in any way expect my words to change your thought process. But I do believe you should watch this Documentary to enable you to make a more informed view on what food you should be chucking down your throat! Cannot wait for Kips next Documentary, whatever that may be. In the meantime, Peace an love man, enjoy!
Rogue One (2016)
It stands on it's own 2 feet
I felt I should write something, I had not watched any trailers or read up on this film before watching it this morning as I wanted to judge for myself if this could go up against the others. I've been thinking about the film since I've come out and must say, it does do a great job. It's created a narrative without having to rely on established characters, gave good foundations to the characters it's created and tied it to the main storyline almost perfectly. It isn't perfect, much like Episode 7 isn't, But it creates a story you can believe and characters you can root for. It's also quite a powerful storyline and I think this gives it the strength it needs to of been able to stand up against such a fan base of the originals. It's a part of the family, it just doesn't need to shout about it, if you get my meaning. 8/10, nicely done
