Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
It Makes Me Want To Watch The Rest of The Series
Amongst a ton of poor reviews, I am only able to give this film such a high rating because I have never seen any of the other Leatherface movies. After watching this movie though my curiosity has been spiked enough that I will definitely be looking into the rest of the movies.
I can totally understand why this has such a low rating and why people that have watched the classics don't like this. It had a mediocre script and didn't pay much attention to technical details corresponding with the past films that, after being pointed out to me, had me cringing.
The movie had its good moments as well as its bad ones but over all I found it to have a really good story (even though that might not stay true to the nature of the series) and I liked how the movie showed how tight family ties can be and how far they will go for each other. The movie caught my attention and has made me give the other movies in this series a chance when before I never would have watched them.
Freerunner (2011)
Completely Pointless!
Before watching a movie I always see who is in it and that usually weighs heavily on my decision to watch it or not. I'm a fan of Sean Faris and his acting in the movie is the only reason I gave the movie such a high rating - I can honestly saw this movie should have gotten a 1.
After watching it I feel like it's a pathetic attempt to remake the 2009 movie Gamer starring Gerard Butler - which wasn't a great movie but far better than this.
There are so many awful things about this movie I don't know where to star. Well, first of all, I really disliked Chelsea. Why you ask? Because the movie basically revolved around this 'beautiful' character that has virtually no personality and who we really no nothing about. In fact we don't really get to know any of the characters except the surface of Ryan.
Maybe this type of movie just isn't my thing but it felt so flat and lifeless even with all the action. The concept of the movie was OK but the dialogue between the characters and their lack of personalities was pitiful.
The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (2013)
Not quality horror but a surprisingly good movie!
Horror films are a touchy subject for me, some I like and some I just cannot deal with. Upon seeing the poster for this movie I though, "Nope, not gonna see that!" It really freaked me out. The conflicting locations in the movies title made me think the movie would be a total flop. So, since I didn't think this movie would be one that I would like - let alone actually good - I'll admit, the only reason I gave this movie a chance is because Chad Michael Murray's in it. After reading summaries for the movie and watching the trailer I gathered that it had to do with the underground railroad, and being a history buff, I decided I had to give the movie a try.
The movie was spooky with little flecks of terror here and there. The acting was very well done but the story was lacking - the movie was pretty much spitting out information and trying to make it scary. How the movie wrapped up was almost...sweet. At the end I almost felt like I watched a rough draft of a great film.
Even though the movie seemed lacking I thought it was very good and it game me just the right amount of scare.
The Devil Inside (2012)
At the end it felt like a waste of money!
I though it was a good creepy movie and I was thoroughly freaked out through the entire thing. I would have probably given this movie a very high rating if it wasn't for the ending. Right when I thought things were really getting scary for me and the action is picking up, all of a sudden the movie is over. It left me sitting there literally with my mouth hanging open and it's like "What just happened?". When I saw the credits rolling I was sitting there thinking that had to be a joke, that couldn't be the end of the movie, you can't just end a movie like that, I hate movies that end like that, where they just stop in the middle of everything. If a movie has that kind of ending I can't help but think it's total crap. I also didn't like the fact that it was made like a documentary; while that gave it a scary aspect I would have enjoyed it much more, and still have been scared, if it had been in a normal movie type format. If you want to be freaked out this is a great movie to see in my opinion but I'd leave before the end because the ending left me sorely disappointed.
