Succession (2018)
Just fell short of being epic!
This show is amazing in terms of direction, production, dialogues accompanied by amazing acting. However, the only problem is the character development and mundane/predicatable plot twists. With exception of few characters, there is not much growth for rest of the cast and all that hype about corporate intelligence/beaurocrat genius falls short over small bickering and loud hollow words. While there is no protagonist/antagonist clearly, this show has some repetitive crisis and climaxes of the same nature that makes it less interesting.
The Mule (2018)
Disappointing!
I wanted to like this film but the writing and the plot was so lame, full of plotholes and lack of character development that I had to try real hard to connect and understand the decisions and the forced dialogues. The movie had a good concept but it did not coincide with the plot. Character's story was forced and not believable, plot rushed, often (and on important occasions) lacking cohesion between character and the story. occasionally forced dialogues, no matter how good they are.
Plot was so predictable, Cooper was merely making appearances in the scenes with no character development. No climax.
Disappointing from Eastwood
Watchmen: This Extraordinary Being (2019)
The best so far!!
If you are a little fascinated by the storyline of this series, you will be blown away by this episode. Probably the best episode of the show so far! Not only it connects the missing pieces but the way it does is so remarkably exquisite. The cinematography and screenplay really takes it to the next level. Adds more depth to an already intricate storyline. A must watch
Watchmen: It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice (2019)
Very interesting pilot!
All the negative reviews are mainly due to the racial part that is being addressed in this show. If you look beyond that, it seems to be a great show. Very captivating and interesting plot. Cinematography and background score is top notch. The only thing people didn't like was the anti-white and pro-black theme of this show
The Office (2019)
Adaptation or Rip off?!!
Would have been better to have the original version translated into Hindi than make this rip off. The jokes, pranks and sometimes even the lines are completely copied from the original. The biggest joke is on the "official adaptation" part.
Cake (2018)
Amazing!!
Brilliant screenplay with top-notch acting has made this film a must-watch. So many subtle and intelligent hints in the movie keeps you in awe of the beauty of the story line and script. The idea of family with dark secrets may not be new but the way it was directed, makes this movie one the best films ever written for Pakistani cinema. Bravo to the Abbasi, the writer and the Director.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
you kiddin me?
I wanted to write a bad review but nothing could beat the writing of season 8! t
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Traitors!!
I have admired your production of GOT so far, but please, never ever try writing a show again. Season 8 so far has nothing but a disappointment and this episode totally contradicted from the last 7 seasons. The dialogues, the story line, the characters...all are so dyssonchronized. They have backstabbed the show with their average writing and sub-par story line. a lot fan theories are far better than what D&D came up with. Now I will watch the last episode only to make sure I have seen it all otherwise, GOT has lost a fan in the last season.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Poor script...well executed!
In pursuit of making the biggest battle ever in TV series, so much focus was on direction and cinematography that they actually forgot the story line has some significance too. When I first watched it, I had palpitations and ended the episode with a wow expression. The more I think of this episode, the less it makes sense. Despite the tension and climax they built, so many scenes and characters were useless. Questions are raised about the role of Jon Snow, Bran, Ser Davos. Since the start of season 8, we have witnessed cliche punch lines and typical jokes with an average story building. Seems Martin is less contributing now and producers are more focused on what would be the most popular decision. GOT has lost its essence for some time. This episode is another nail in the coffin.
Direction and Cinematography and screenplay: 10/10
Plot and story line: 2/10
Silence (2016)
In Silence you will see the answer
If you are wanting to go and watch a movie with twists and climaxes, some intense suspense thriller scenes or amazing soundtrack...then this is not the movie you wanna watch. This movie is less about itself and more about the basic concept it revolves around...how strong is your faith? I believe the story line was linear yet satisfying in the end. I must say, the ending and the lesson we learn from it, is definitely satisfying. Direction overall is good. I wouldn't say spectacular but its definitely worth appreciation. I thought initially the movie was taking shortcuts to get to the main story line of the priests chasing their mentor. but then it stabilizes itself and moves on at a decent pace. Andrew Garfield did a really good job in acting. Overall! I would give it an 8. I would recommend it to everyone to at least watch it once.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014)
Weakest of the three!!
They just ruined the whole series when they decided to break mocking jay into 2 parts. The whole money-making idea totally devastated it. This movie had such high expectations, but very little to offer.
If you have seen the trailer of this movie, trust me you have probably watched the whole movie. It drags along the scenes of JL being sentimental and more motivated for the cause, forcing to develop her character into the rebellion but pathetically failed. At times you feel that Katniss' character was forced to be made a symbol of rebellion when so many other characters could do better.
The movie starts off slow and ends at the same pace. The only thing that saved it from more blushes is Francis Lawrence...what a great director! Background score is as bad as the plot of this movie. You end up thinking what really happened, what has changed and come up with actually NILL.
Acting and Direction are good, and this movie will run good because of its fan-following, but totally lacked depth in the storyline. You are forced to think: what was the whole point??
Guess they just left everything for the next movie to do some justice. As the 1st two parts were really good, this was a step backwards.
Interstellar (2014)
An Amazing Film!!
Forget all the critics. Forget what other people think or say about it. Do yourself a favor and go & watch this. A truly beautiful film in every aspect. Nolan has taken the sci-fi genre to a whole new level. Spare yourself from frivolous comparisons with 2001 or other films. Just appreciate the beauty of the very meticulous work Nolan has done.
I won't deny there are some plot holes, but name one movie which doesn't (except godfather perhaps). Just relax and enjoy this masterpiece as it takes you to a completely different realm, just like Gravity or 2001.
Cinematography - 10/10 Music - 11/10 (better than orgasms maybe) Story and screenplay, direction - 9/10 Acting - 9/10 what else do you want?
After watching the film, you will have many questions, just like in all other Nolan films. Go and do some research on what theories and concepts Nolan used in the film. Idiots who call this a stupid movie have completely failed to grasp the basic essence of the movie. Yes. there are some plot holes, but overtaken by the grandiosity of basic concept.
Some of the scenes were so epic...so strong. this is probably Nolan's most ambitious effort to date (i think TDK and memento were his best).
Not giving anything away about the story line, but this movie has so many different aspects. It involves you in every way, as a family person, as a human being, as an explorer.
Just go and watch this movie.
