Mindhunter (2017)
So. Disappointed.
This series ended. (Title punctuated in this manner for dramatic effect)
I read an article that stated that although it has a very faithful following, the viewer numbers were not where they wanted them to be hence the cancellation. This is so not acceptable regarding a show that has such depth. It gives us character development, storylines and its developments, subplots, and ofc the main course: interviews with the psychopaths. It addresses societal and political barriers and hoops that had to be dealt with and overcome of this particular era. It gives us a glimpse into what the BAU may have had to deal with professionally and personally to bring about this amazing asset into fruition.
I watched Criminal Minds faithfully and enjoyed immensely the entirety of each story and and then take down of the bogeymen. This show is like the prequel.
The review that I agree with and wish I were articulate and insightful enough to have written was by gogoschka-1. I encourage any one who is of open mind, does not mind realistic points of view even if they may not be in alignment with your own, and into the 'why' of things to give this show a try. Open your miiiiindddddd. Lol.
The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself (2022)
So disappointed in Netflix
This series is quite smart without shoving any one's side of life matters down the throat, so to speak. I love anything to do with fantasy usually and after having watched this series, I promptly watched and listened to it over and over and even Shazamming all of the songs so that I could learn of them. It got under my skin.
The 'bastard son' shows the trueness of humanity on any level. Whether that's just being born from the 'wrong side of the tracks', from the wrong type of people, or of prejudices that we can carry for any number of reasons that we do not acknowledge or know of ourselves, and ofc those that we most assuredly do. It also displays love and acceptance during trial, self growth, doing what's morally and ethically right even in the face of danger or opposite opinion. That saying art imitates life is so true and this series was a great example of that while giving us our so desired dose of grand drama. I'm so very sad Netflix canx'd the show. The adventuring that takes place spins an interwoven story of love, hate, intolerance, undying and blind loyalties, and awakenings beyond them. I know it doesn't seem like that deep of a show, yet it was.
R. I. P. to the death of another good show before it had the moment to gain traction.
Wine Country (2019)
An awesome women of the ages story.
Clever, emotional, humorous, heartfelt and non millennial YET millennial compassionate/adjacent . Being a woman near her 40's, I really appreciate a movie or story that reps the age range of people/women who grew up in an era that told time by the lamp posts but that is still so relevant to the times. These women did not just give themselves up to the jail of society and rollover.
Elementary: Whatever Remains, However Improbable (2018)
The opening of next season
This season finale was crazy!! I was so mad that the female FBI agent was gunning so hard for Joan. As if these people were real. Lol! I was VERY surprised who was at fault bc I had thoughts that it was 2 other people. Either the FBI agent (but couldn't figure out motive) or the Captain bc of his care for Joan.
The opening of next season to follow the ending of this one will likely be a very interesting turn of events if the writing stays on point or it can go to hell. I believe it will be the former based off of the past 6 seasons' turn of events. I have the utmost faith that they will fix everything and free Joan's name. I never write reviews but felt I needed to weigh in. I do realize that this was supposed to be the show's finale but it got its renewal despite the plans to end. I feel that the writers did an awesome way of twisting what they had into being able to continue on the show's storyline and also giving it a new environment for fresh new feels and stories.
I absolutely love the characters in this show. They're the heart of this show. The dynamic, ambiance, the multiple storylines and the love for the greater good that is at the soul of this show appeals to all of my senses. I'm so grateful that this show is still around. Long live Joan and Sherlock. Can NOT wait until the next season starts in London!!
The Week Of (2018)
So disappointing
I love Adam Sandler and his movies over the last 5-10 years have not really hit any mark. It's super disappointing.
