Operation Dunkirk (2017)
Watch only if you have no desire to be entertained
First, I agree with the reviewer who said in effect, it is not fair to judge a movie based upon our inability to know the difference between the REAL movie and a knock off.I knew this was not the Christopher Nolan movie, but I hoped it would be entertaining. If you just care to view a movie with plausible story line, actions, reactions, and conclusion, then this movie is NOT UNwatchable. If you are a stickler for details you will abhor this piece of trash. Not caring for accuracy of events, uniforms, and the like, I score this movie rather low due to a number of inexcusable items -three of which other reviewers have mentioned: at 51:07 through 53:58 you have the rather large clock face jumping back and forth (7 times by my count) from roughly 1:47 to about 1:38 (Cher singing IF I COULD URN BACK TIME would be fitting for this segment). Then the stupidity of NOT shooting the Germans when given the advantage was presented at the warehouse when the soldiers find the "package" and the Germans make themselves easy targets for slaughter and directly after the bridge is blown up knocking everyone to the ground the best they can do instead of killing all the Germans then and there is to reenact the Sundance and Billy the Kid shoot out escape? Thirdly, if planes were firing away at an enemy that has me surrounded one of the DUMBEST decisions I could make is to run in the SAME DIRECTION and in some cases almost shoulder to shoulder with the ones the pilots are trying to shoot down..yet, that is what the protagonists do.Nor would I walk out the front door KNOWING the enemy is seconds away from where I am. In this movie the Germans make NO mistakes while anyone who opposes them thrive on them (picking up a booby trapped rifle, telling secrets believing the Germans would let you live, NOT using the fact that your trail of blood lets your pursuers know EXACTLY where you are and NOT using this to your advantage to set a trap for them (no less than 3 missed opportunities to wipe them out). Just about every fourth minute the movie discloses a "are you kidding me" drop of the jaw. I feel bad for the good guys who died needlessly.
Major Crimes: Shockwave: Part 2 (2017)
Something to Chew on
Just finished Season 5 Episode 21 and did not know it was the Season Finale although it did have the feel of one. I confess I liked Brenda Leigh Johnson so much that it came easy to dislike Sharon Raydor. Finding out she was taking the lead in the spin-off almost spun me off. Now, at the end of Season Five I know why I have remained loyal: Within the show, others hated BLJ because of HOW she did her job but had to credit her for doing EXCELLENT work catching the bad guys/gals...and the same can be said for my attitude with SR. BLJ was self-centered and SR came across as unsociable. Like Brenda, Sharon takes her job and her team SERIOUSLY which propels her to her best. Seeing her in this light helps me accept her hard-edged attitude and take special note when something causes a smile to reach her face. The team may have a different dynamic with SR but it is still the family that was formed under BLJ. The maturation and evolution of Rusty is handled in almost real time. It is not rushed, he still makes adolescent decisions and he remains unsure of himself even while gathering more confidence in who he is and what he may become. Patrice and Provenza, Rus and Gus, Flynn and Sharon; nothing, not death, not in-fighting, not dalliances should tear apart these bonds each couple is made stronger by facing these speed bumps together.
