This is a good story and worth watching but takes the old, "don't say anything to anybody or we will kill your wife," plot to a whole new and incredibly frustrating level and I honestly believe the series would be much better if the producers and writer had tightened it up into only 6 episodes instead of 8.
Our hero Mat is trying to find his missing wife and being an ex con we can cut him some slack when he acquiesces to the threats he gets about seeking help early in the story. However, it doesn't take long for us, and Mat, to find out his wife has been leading a double life and lying to him for the 4 years they have been together. The frustrating thing is as the evidence against her and the seriousness of what she was apparently involved in piles up, he still refuses to tell anyone who can help him (including his Private Detective) the truth or ask for help and we have to endure his befuddled reticence for 3 episodes, not finding out what's really up with her until the end of the 4th episode.
I'm sorry but loyalty has it's limits and the more we learn about his wife and other nefarious characters in the show the more unbelievable and unrealistic his silence becomes. Seriously, ex con or not, I would have been calling the cops as soon as I found out she wasn't where she was supposed to be and had absconded with my life's savings.
All of that said, if you can hang in there through this slog fest, the last 3 episodes are much better than the first 3.
