The Lion King (2019)
Voice Actors don't ruin it, but don't blow away the original either
I did not hate this flick. But when you literally change every voice actor except one who sounds old and tired {quite alright, given his age.) very little is different except they don't command the same presence.
I do not speak ill of any of the voice actors here. As a matter of fact a few were about the same. Sarabi came across as a bit more developed and the voice is hardly any different. John Oliver is great as Zazu. I speak mainly of Rafiki, Scar, and the Hyenas. Hell one just grunted and cackled in the original and even he seemed to fit the original better.
In conclusion, it is not terrible. It was a good use of 2 hours. But all the while I kept saying in my head 'I can't wait to watch the original' while watching every scene play out. Hell, even the songs had more spirit. These animals just looked like they were going through routines. Simba's reaction to Mufasa after the stampede did not feel genuine...even the infraction or camber of his voice didn't seem sincere.
Still recommend yall check it out.
Mass Effect 2 (2010)
I cannot help but review this epic masterpiece...(CONTAINS SPOILERS)
Where to begin? I shall format this like any fair game review and give my honest opinion.
Graphics 9/10: To start off I can say I have seen better...but not by much...the details of which has no bearing at all on the amazing detail of which Bioware paid to faces, expressions, voices, movements, etc. Despite it not being THE BEST like so much else in this game is...it is still comparable and then some. I only recall one time Shepard smiled in ME1 and that was his half cocked smile at the end crawling over the corpse of Sovereign...I think he earned that smile, but only on certain faces did it look right.
Sound 10/10: I've rarely EVER had a game with such an epic sound track that it gets into my blood and causes my soul to soar...I'd quote Morinth here on her love of music but I can't honestly remember what she said word for word so I won't put it to shame. But that's what this sound track does to me. I wanted to cry when I heard Jack Wall jumped ship for ME3...but when I heard that Composer Master Clint Mansell took over (Requiem for a Dream) I knew the franchise was in good hands. I am sad to see Wall go, but am confident in Mansell's ability to retain what Wall delivered and add his own touch in an equally artistic manner. Voiceovers were the other real treat here. I really can't say male or female shepards were voiced better...I think both excel enough when having to be tough or soft and are really more your average joes forced into hard situations than anything.
Gameplay 9/10: Definitely simplified over ME1 and in all ways that are good. I can't say I was fond of the watering down of RPG elements...but the fact that I didn't need to re-equip and customize the crap out of my squad members and character and could roll out and kick ass was totally fine by me. It is not something that took away from gameplay. I didn't know if having Use/Sprint/Cover in the same button would be a good idea...but it worked...I might have had 1 instance where he used something instead of took cover and I died...something I can easily deal with for it's simplicity over 1 and driving shep into walls to make him cover, or telling him to duck with the out of the way CTRL key so he doesn't get his head shot off his shoulders. Vaulting over walls and mowing down Collectors or Geth with the Revenant machine gun was so awesome I can't resist but to do it over and over.
Replay Value 10/10: I have not had a game with the replay value of this since the days of Diablos 1 and 2...and it may even beat out those...Storyline composes such a compelling tale of heroism that you can't help but see all the ways it can play out. I played through this game 17 times. I'm a fanboy and damn proud of it.
Storyline 10/10: Now for the best part of any Bioware game. Storyline. What makes this story grand is not only the fact that it is awesome in and of itself...You are a lone man with allies of all races taking on the greatest threat the Galaxy has ever known...Majority wants to deny anything is really going on more so than they must so you are mostly alone...forcing yourself to take alliances with questionable organizations (Cerberus!) and undertaking missions that everyone says are impossible or will get you killed...But what makes this great is that there are choices you can make that impact the entire game. Choices from 1 take direct impact on outcomes in 2 and 2 into 3 and so forth...and the story NEVER suffers for it...It is like God will use Shepard to accomplish fate no matter how he acts...Paragon, Renegade, or my personal favorite Paragade/Renegon! Sometimes situations call for different actions. The merc who's been commanding his units to fire on me and gets cornered at gun point on the top floor of a tower refusing to tell me any info gets shoved out the window every time. 'I got nothing more to say to you...' *smash and falls screaming* 'How bout good-bye?' Gets me every time...Seeing old crew mates, seeing decisions you made reflect on you as a character, and the moral fiber of which you stand for or stand against...it's all so deep...I feel like as if this game is a Second Life more than it is a game...Is this obsession? I feel it is a gift from God. Mass Effect is the Star Wars of the new Millennium...and is far better than anything to come out in the Star Wars Universe lately with maybe the sole exception of Knights of the Old Republic, which was by Bioware! Now I'd like to Honor Bioware with the title of my favorite all time gaming company. I was never a sci fi fan of anything until I got my hands on KOTOR and this...and I haven't turned back since.
Well...I guess it's time to work on time number 18...got 3 months til 3 comes out {March 6th if I am not mistaken}...and oh this wait is killing me...I got mercs to stab in the back with welding torches, or throw out of top floor tower windows! Mass Effect, Bioware, and everyone who worked on these titles...thank you for Blessing us all with your Talents and Creativity. It is a privilege to play these games and the experience of a life time. I have never been so happy to pay full price for these titles.
Storm of the Century (1999)
Well, this was fun...I guess
Before I am scorned for rating a Stephen King movie such a low rating, hear me out.
I sat down hoping this movie would be good and it started out OK, if a bit slow. Apparently a demon comes to town and in the beginning an old woman is killed for whatever reason.
Then he just proceeds to sit in her chair and watch TV, yelling rhymes and hissing with weird fanged teeth that really irritated me every time I saw them...it got really old seeing him hiss I think 15 times throughout the whole movie to show those teeth...but that can be passed off as a personal annoyance that perhaps I am being fickle about.
As for the movie itself...they cage this demon in a jail cell while the storm of the century is going on outside, and the Constable/Magistrate, whatever the law guy on the isle is called, we'll call him Constable for good measure, is going back and forth between Town Hall which has been made into a shelter of some sort for people to horde into and be protected from the cold and survive, and his jail to see the prisoner who murdered the old woman.
One character in particular that never ceased to aggravate me was that annoying guy who always tried to meddle in the Constable's affairs, taking his own route instead of just doing what he was told to do.
All in all, the movie took a total of about 2 hours to really go anywhere near the end when he reveals what he has wanted all this time...when we could have saved those 2 hours of our lives and just seen the last 30 minutes which are all that really count, see him take what he wants, and leave.
And the fat lady has sung...

AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Overall a wonderful film
I don't despise Paul Anderson. In fact I rather favor him.
I don't know why he was given AVP, but I did not complain...
I did not like the PG-13 rating, but it didn't ruin the movie...and I've long since gotten over it.
I am going to say one thing though, the fight scenes ruled. Some say they were too fast, I thought they were just great.
****!!!!SPOILERS!!!!****
I think it was cheap how they killed off Sebastian and Weyland. Weyland did not come off to me as the corporate ass that his company ends up becoming in the Aliens series when it merges with Yutani corp.
I did not think of Sanaa Lathan proper to play the part that she did...she just didn't seem to fill it properly...she seemed to be there...but she did it alright I suppose.
As for Bishop, Henrikson brought on an astounding display of immense talent in his acting.
The predators seemed a bit bulky to me...and the facial structures just didn't seem right, and also the mandibles didn't seem to have the 'life' that they did in the first one...for instance when Arnold is looking at the Predator in the original Predator when it takes off his mask...you see his mandibles clicking, anticipating the fight to come...and then one twitches...it is so lifelike! I guess that is what happens when we lose the talented Mr Kevin Peter Hall who played a predator like no one else can, not to forget Stan (something or other) who came up with the predator design in the first place...and god bless him for creating one of the most kick ass creatures in the world.
All I can say is WHEN WILL A DAMN PREDATOR ACTUALLY WIN?!
Every time the predator gets his S!!t messed up and the human walks away without a scratch...it's getting old and tired...I say make Predator 3 and every humans dies, and the Predator walks away, having made a successful hunt.
The elder predator kicked ass, though he had the same messed up mouth like the rest of them did.
Aliens...could not have been done better...Congratulations to Anderson for relying more on animatronics than CGI...cause CGI sucks...it can be done very poorly...It wasn't all that great supporting the queen either when she busted out of the pit created by the predator's bomb. It almost looked like a T-Rex from Jurassic Park...but then again all we have to compare it to is the Queen in 2 which was so docile due to what cameron had to work with...not to mention the one that was killed so cheaply and never moved in Alien Resurrection, the money dump that it was.
Ah, well, I will say that I am not disappointed that I paid to see this flick. Boycotting it won't do crap unless you can get the younger crowd to do so as well, and you never will...Perhaps it is good that we have had the franchise opened to younger people now...I mean there seriously were no little screaming brats...as I think even 13 year olds are capable of shutting the hell up during a movie on screen...it's obnoxious jocks and their boyfriends that drive me up a wall with their stupid comments and ill placed obnoxious laughing...oh and their constant insistence to make out all the time...Last midnight showing of a movie I'll ever see.
