Jacques Cousteau: Above the Ocean (2005)
Masterpiece! Instant Classic
Of course I had to see this when I saw the players involved. You had me at Pascal. Truly one of the overlooked gems of the Silent era.
Spoiler
I liked when the guy died in the end.
Brutal (2012)
1000 times more excellent!
I went into this movie unsure what to expect, thinking perhaps it might be a mob comedy. While it does have many funny moments, it actually is a movie in the same vein as my favorite period and genre, the gritty '70's flicks like "Serpico" and "The French Connection". It's VERY well-directed and the acting is top-notch, especially the lead actor and his cohorts in the heist. Peter Green is very menacing as well. I guarantee if you give this movie a chance, it will keep you entertained. The plot twists and turns are all believable and surprising, as well as shocking, right up until the end. That first reviewer must've been huffing paint thinner right before they wrote their deluded review!
