Morning Glory (2010)
5/10
Tries to be more than it is... and fails.

Movies/TV series about journalism interest me. The other reason I wanted to check Morning Glory out was cast. I have a huge respect for Harrison Ford, I simply adore Rachel McAdams and I like Jeff Goldblum and John Pankow. Also, J. J. Abrams is listed as a producer which seemed interesting to me. And yeah, H. Ford does a great job of playing grumpy old man and R. McAdams is just adorable (not in any demeaning way). But the movie tries so hard to be more than it is. For example - it tries to by heartwarming, but fails and is cringey in many places instead. The story itself isn't anything special, but tries to seem as something worth a deeper thought. But the acting or story aren't the reasons why I rated this movie 5/10 (barely). I think that the director is the one to blame. It is the way how he tells the story that just misses the mark with me.

Barely watchable

I like silly comedies. I like Rob Schneider and I like Jenna Dewan- Tatum. Despite that, this movie isn't one of those you give low rating but secretly enjoy. There are few good jokes but that's about it. The rest of it is simply underwhelming.

I can't shake of a feeling that someone just wanted to make a movie with a lot of half naked girls but wasn't brave enough to go straight for porn. Not that I complain though... but the story could have been better developed, in this form seems like secondary focus for the makers.

This movie is one of those you watch once in your life don't feel a need to watch it ever again. You might even not remember what it was about the next day after seeing it. Except that it contained quite a good number of topless girls :)

Crappy, good comedy.

I have to admit that comedies starring Rob Schneider, Adam Sandler, Nick Swardson and/or all the others from this group of "actors" are my guilty pleasure. They're usually so bad I can help myself but enjoy them. The Benchwarmers isn't an exception. These movies usually have a great starting idea (fighting bullies in this case), some good or great jokes and a lot of bad ones and terrible acting. The Benchwarmers adds a few pretty ladies, geek stuff and cool movie cars. Even though I rate these movies around 6/10, this one doesn't deserve more than 5/10 in my opinion. Acting performances are really bad and some of the jokes were a bit more annoying than usual. So there you have it - I like this kind of movies, but Benchwarmers are barely average. Too bad, it could have been much better with just a few small tweaks.
