Anderson's Cross (2010)
This film proves that dreams do come true with vision and hard work
Anderson's Cross is a more than it appears.
From what I understand, this movie was made by Jerome E. Scott whom, as a student of classic film-making, believed in doing it the old- fashioned way. Along with his friends and advisors, he pooled his financial resources, delayed enjoying some of life's pleasures for several years, and crafted a film (critics said could not be done without studio backing)into an extraordinary dream come true.
Hard work and determination paid off and it shows. There are no flashy special effects, sci-fi shots, gross nudity, or cheap gimmicks. Just raw story.
Films like this are virtually impossible to make these days. This is what film-making is all about folks!
Ryan's Life (2004)
Hilarious, skillful, and to the point
"Ryan's Life" is a refreshing and hilarious take on adolescent awkwardness and coming out. When 16 year old Ryan Harris finds himself at a sexual crossroads, his world is turned topsy-turvy and soon realizes life will never be the same. Director Nick Wauters skillfully weaves the main character through a series of pitfalls and funny situations that never seems to get old. The actors and production value were top notch and an appearance by West Hollywood local Maria "The Rosas Lady" brought the house down. It was an audience favorite at OUTFEST, and several other film festivals, and will be interesting to see where all involved will be in 10 years. More importantly, it is a film that resonates with both straight and gay audiences alike.
I look forward to seeing it as an upcoming series on the HERE network. HERE could benefit from an injection of quality gay programming!
