Jagten (2012)
It only has a plot since the kindergarden leader is both incompetent and inconsistent.
This movie bring up a subject that not is very tabooed. I dont think i even seen a single movie that is solely based on a person being wrongfully accused of sexual act with children, and the society effect it has.
This is a movie where people give high scores because they want to convince themself that they would be that single person that gave the main guy the benefit of the doubt. Nobody would admit they belong to the majority and destroy a innocent man.
While this movie is good, it could be executed MUCH better. The whole premise of the movie is based on a kindergarden leader which is both incompetent and inconsistent in character.
Inconsistent 1: She says the girl has a really vivid imagination and you cant believe everything she says. In the very next sequence she is saying that she has been sexually assaulted without NOTHING happen in between.
Inconsistent 2: After she hears the story from the girl, she supports the main guy. You know she really means it, cause her actions and doubts supports it. But somehow when she talks to the girl the second time it all changes? The girl says basicly nothing then. Suddenly she runs away from him like she have seen him do these things. Let me remind you that NOTHING happened between where she supported him to where she runs away. If anything she would believe him more cause the girl was much more hesitant and said even less the second time.
Inconsistent 3: She cant say the name of the girl to the main guy or even some remotely details. But to everyone in town she has no problem saying it all??
Incompetent 1: She doesnt get his side of the story. This is because if he knew just a slight portion what this was all about, he would tell her about the gift and everything would be cleared out. The movie have no plot anymore.
Incompetent 2: A leader that litteraly runs away when he wants to talk to her.
Incompetent 3: The 2nd meeting with the girl (Both girl and the other "professional") is purely based on confirmation bias. All they do is ask leading questions and even then they dont get reason to think this happened. In most cases, those two would have a meeting with the main guy to clear it up. In real life most of these cases wouldnt go to the police cause the girl dont provide any proof, credability and is really inconsistent herself.
I know these things can happen in real life, where you have a complete useless and incompetent kindergarden leader and the so-called professional is useless himself, but the chances of these things happening is so extremely slim. The movie throws away logic and reasoning just to build up its plot several times.
The movie would be better if the director did an more realistic approach that you accually can come in same situations even with the kindergarden leader being a normal person. Where you can get into the same problem, just being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Unlocked (2017)
Why just a 6 score you say? Because its to PREDICTABLE and STUPID! 27% on rotten tomatoes.
REASONS WHY ITS PREDICTABLE:
1. When you first see Orlando Bloom is a simple thief is that believeable? NO cause you know that they wouldnt cast such a big name for a 2 min appearance. You also know that once the main girl gets tazered he will appear to "rescue" her.
You also know then that he is a agent, and for sure he isnt a good guy. Its to obvious!
2. Do you think that Michael Douglas is really dead in the beginning? AGAIN, they wouldnt cast such a big name for 2 min appearance. You know then that he will come back and he wouldnt his own death if he was the good guy.
REASONS WHY ITS STUPID:
1. The endless twists is really old. The director thinks that the endless twists will keep you in the edge of your seat, but most people are tired of it. The score and reviews shows that.
2. When the main guy is hanging for her life at the end, the bad guy bend down, giving her a perfect opportunity to kill him and stop the timer. If he has trained her to be "One of the best in the country" he sure is a amateur. The director has written himself in a corner there and has to make the bad guy do a stupid and illogical move for her to win. He either could have grabbed a gun and shot her or even just left her hanging there. Seems like he wanted to catch the virus in the first place, cause it was just 20-30 sec left on the timer and he slowly walked towards her.
3. A special trained sniper that shoots the other chick in the chest and dont make sure she is dead? He knows she has a body armor on for god sake....
4. This is on so many levels a Jason Bourne copy. Its almost impossible to not think of Jason Bourne when watching this.
The start of the movie is very good. And i was sure sure that i was giving this movie atleast a 7 in the beginning. But after the "death" of Michael Douglas everything became so predictable and went downhill from there.
Thats why people on avg giving this movie a 6 , instead of 7,5-8 like the really good action thrillers get. Around 6 is pretty much average this kind of movie gets on. Around 5 on avg is considered to be well below avg movie, atleast with so many stars. Trash movies still get around 4.
To put it into perspective. The movie has 27% on rotten tomatoes with 42% audience score.
Box office shows worldwide gross is around 6 mill dollars. I cant find how much the budget was, but pretty sure its atleast 40 mill dollars, meaning they didnt even get back a fraction what the movie cost...
Okkupert (2015)
Exciting and suspenseful thriller, but incosistant character choises and some bad acting from some pulls it down.
I like the series. The production quality is very good, especially for a Norwegian series. The show is really suspenseful at times.
The acting however is very variable. The PST guy (main guy), restaurant owner, prime minister and the wife of PST guy (judge), does a very good job for the most part. The journalist however does a awful job. Its just laughable how bad his acting is. The teens and kids also does a really bad acting job. The character "Stefan Christensen" also does a awful job. Several of the scenes with him is just laughable and cringeworthy.
Some of the characters is very inconsistant. The journalist is so tough against the primeminister and on national television, but when a teen alone threatens to kill his wife he acts like a coward and doesnt do anything. He dont even reveal his face so he knows who he is. It isnt consistant with his character at all. And with his bad acting its just painful to watch.
Russian invading Norway isnt so unlikely as people think. While the chances is low, its possible. Norway has two things that Russia would like to have. A strategic coastline to the west and oil. If Russia were attacked by US, they would have a great benefit if they controlled Norway mainly cause of the long shoreline.
Relationship between Norway and Russia isnt the best either, and there clearly is tension. Norway dont dare to stand up to Russia, even if we are not at war with Russia there been several minor conflicts where Norway shows its Russias b*tch.
For example Russia says they got a Norwegian spy "Frode Berg" held in Russian prison. 2 years later, he is still in Russia. He has been sentenced to 14 years in prison and will most likely atleast serve several more years in Russia before released to Norway.
1 year ago, Norway says they caught a Russian spy in the Norwegian parlament. He was arrested, but released to Russia 1-2 days later.
So that Norway would let Russia dominate them as in this series, well it already is a fact. But on the other hand, if Russia wanted, they would take over Norway in less than 1 day.
Im accually pretty sure they wouldnt dare to make such a big production with Russia as the sole bad guy. So they included the very implausible scenario where EU forces Russia to occupy Norway.
Just look how mad Russia was after US made the mini series about Chernobyl. US can handle to provoke Russia and does so all the time, but Norway can not.
Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017)
Some great things here, but kinda falls short because of illogical decisions and acting.
First off, several things about the movie is good. I like the story, production and the cinematography. It makes things seem alot more real than most other movies. This movie also have a very dark atmosphere that i like. The fighting scenes is also very good.
The acting is decent. First of Vince is doing a good job. There are several moments which arent so good, but i generally buy his bad-ass trait. The warden however (Don Johnson) is a cliche out of this world. His performance is laughable and painful to watch. Several of the guards doesnt seem believable at all with their macho performance.
The movie also makes some really illogical decisions. Why in hell would he kill those accomplices in the beginning of the movie? There is no reason why he would do that. His character would never do that. Is that for us to believe that really is a good guy, since he sort of helped the cops? Not only do he get a longer sentence in form of manslaughter, but everyone knows that your boss will make your life a living hell.
So by doing this, his wife gets kidnapped and therefore the movie has some kind of plot. So only reason for his choise is for the movie to get further in the story and him to get in conflict. If the boss didnt want a favour he would just have killed the wife while he was in jail, and him when he got out.
This movie could have got an 8 from me, but instead gets a weak 6 because of major plot holes and sometimes laughable acting. Its very easy to see that the director is fresh in his game.
En chance til (2014)
Decent movie, but some logical flaws just to make the movie more dramatic!
Good story, good production and decent acting.
The acting has some logical flaws. Why would he try so hard to get the baby found? Right from the start he pressured both parents to admit they were lying about the kidnap. In 98% of the cases (if this happened in real life), he would be stressed out of his mind and stay in the background a little while he would think about what to do. In most cases he would be so distant that the other cop would be like "are you alright, whats wrong?".
He gets a confession from the father since he knows that the kid laid on the bathroom floor. Everything is so forced and the only reason is to get the story going forward. Cause if he hadnt forced those parents so hard, the police would treat this as a missing child case and would most likely never even found the child. He would then most likely got away with switching kid, atleast for a few years. But then we couldnt get the dramatic ending the movie builds up to.
At the end he accually tries to cover his tracks by saving to the mother that she should stay silent. I was like "you kidding me", this was SO FORCED and didnt fit with his actions at all. At that point it would be more logical if he wouldnt try to cover his tracks.
Summary:
So good movie in many ways, but especially the main character does WAAY to many illogical things just to get the plot to continue. This shows very amateur script since the director focus more of getting further in the plot than the character rational behavior.
Us (2019)
Wow what a letdown after "Get out"
Its starts good, but goes downhill from there. The acting is often bad. Their "sinister" performance is often so bad that you just laugh. Lupitas performance is very overhyped. Sometimes you just laugh at it since its just silly. Its basicly a comedian that does a horror impression for laugh at times.
You never feel terrified or scared when watching this movie. Even my GF who is easily scared by horror movies just laughed and think it was stupid. She said she would have given this movie a 2 or 3 out of 10.
This movie had so much potential, but the execution was very bad. After "Get out" I had SOOO much expectation about this movie. I gave "Get out" 9/10, but this gets barely 5/10 for me. Could be I adjust this to 4/10 later.
The Mountain Between Us (2017)
Predictable and cliche movie, with some decent elements. Kate Winslets character extremely unlikeable.
Most about the movie is decent. The story, the acting, screenplay, music is decent. The execution is below decent.
3 things annoyed me a lot with this movie.
1. Everything about this movie is very predictable. If you guess the movie after seeing the first 10 minutes, you will probably have most of the things right. It gets boring very fast cause of this.
2. The ending is so cliche that you want to vomit. This only happens in movies (often also), not in real life.
3. Kate Winslet character is SOO unlikeable. Why does he even fall in love with her? All she does is nagging, being negative, saying its no point cause they will die anyways, snooping around in his things. She doesnt have any strong likeable traits. In real life he would have ditched her after 2-3 days of nagging, being negative and saying they were going to die.
This movie were close to 3/10
Ready Player One (2018)
You want brainless entertainment, here you go!
Most big budget movies nowadays is very dumbed down. You dont find a single movie with triple digit million budget that invites you to do some thinking. This is so everyone can get the plot. Since most people just want brainless entertainment this is the recipe for success.
Its the same principle if we look at videogames. In the amiga, nes and even snes era, there were a lot of games that extremely few could beat. Today games everyone can beat.
So since people dont like to challenge their skills or their mind, everything is dumbed down. This movie even a 6 year old has no problem keeping up with. Its very kid friendly in terms of storytelling.
The production quality is great and the visuals is amazing. However its extremely easy to predict whats gonna happen. For people that like some thinking, its a insult to your intelligence.
Retribution (2018)
EXTREMELY BAD AND JUST PURE CRINGE
The movie is short, so I keep this review short.
The production quality is ok considering the 50k pund used. Could have easily been better considering its just 10 min, but its ok.
The acting is so bad that its pure cringe from the "lead actor". He is trying to be a badass but it feels so forced and is laughable. A random guy from the street probably has better acting skills than him.
11 of the 19 votes are giving this trash a 10. This is production and actors giving themself a 10.
