Young Justice: Private Security (2019)
Bowhunter Security. Always on point.
IMO, this is the best episode during the season, if not the series. The dynamic between the Harper's is written in the vein of a classic buddy cop film, with plenty of witty quips and humor. While the security mission is my favorite part of the episode, the other aspects are so heartfelt especially Zatana and her father.
Overall this episode has the all the best parts of YJ, personal tragedy progressing towards growth, excellent action, humor and team dynamics and relationships.
Seasons 1 and 2 are excellent with season 3 good but the overall plot isn't as good, but still a solid watch. Season 4 is huge step down and I didn't even finish the season.
Medieval (2022)
Missed opportunity
Many other reviewers have the same observations as I do. Such a beautiful film, with sweeping cinematography and gorgeous outdoor sets along with brutal fight scenes that rival any other war film set during this period. Unfortunately that is where the positives end.
I would list this film a step above a film done by stunt people to highlight their ability stage fight scenes. With such rich source material that is glossed over to tell a
fictional shoehorned pseudo love story a lâ Braveheart.
The most confusing to me is I have been anticipating this film for years and it was delayed due to global issues and it was still released with such a confused narrative.
The film fails to properly address his Hussite faith (IMO it depicted he opposed which is false) and only speaks of his greatest accomplishments in a summary at the end. With Zizka being a Slavic and Czech hero this film is the equivalent of telling a story of Gerorge Washington as a 20 year old and summarizing his war leadership and presidency in some written text at the end of the film.
Watch it if you like blood and guts and shots of eastern European woods but don't expect to leave knowing much more than a wiki summary.
