Turn Up Charlie (2019)
Good story but....
Really like the series. Short episodes that get to the message quickly without much fluff. Big fan of Idris so just another side we haven't seen, especially his dance moves. I liked the storyline that focused on friendships. I think Idris and his body of work have a far reaching influence on many and throughly enjoy watching his body of work.
My only but is the message beyond entertaining. The oversimplistic profession all characters have, aside form a nightmare studio session, its all roses, partying and enjoying life especially if your an actor, a DJ, a manager, promoter, community organizer. The realities of life though touched on like housing, utilities are solved and a bit soft given the troubles are mentioned quite a bit.
It goes without mentioning the troubled kid who grows up some but by no means should be given a pass for acceptable 10-11 year old behavior. The Childs actions should not go without consequences and punishment of any kind. In that sense I think the wrong message is presented, even if just for entertainment.
Sound of Freedom (2023)
Best movie of our time...
If Shindlers List captivated us with a message of the Holocaust, this is the movie to captivate us to the horrors of modern-day slavery. Only this time it's not a history lesson and happening NOW, promoting action. The story is not full of big Hollywood action scenes, but all the acting keeps you completely engaged. This is not a story for or against the ride of positions on one side vs the other. It IS about slavery and the distraction of innocence. I fully support this team's message and admire how they prevailed to bring it to theaters. A must-see for families willing and able to introduce young adults to the harsh happenings in the world to foster real conversations.

Room to improve...
The racers are amazing and the race really is a testament to the human ability to preserver thru. A bit heavy on the backstories, but those are competitors they singled out pre-production I suppose. With 60 plus teams, need more exposure to the whole picture of what makes these athletes sign up and compete for such a race.
once the 1st place team would have liked more filler on how they did it, what was their strategy for the win. Also, small glimpses of the HQ support element would have been good gill on just what it took to get all the shots with the teams. I have to presume some of the camera crews had to up their athletic game just to keep up, that would have been more interesting than some of the filler backstories on why some athletes were racing.
Not much of anything on the prize or how significant this is in the overall world of endurance racing/adventures. What does it take to prepare, the cost associated with participating? Why does every team need to be co-ed? the series was fun to watch, but left more questions than answers in the end.
In the end looking forward to the next race, but hope for more coverage and a wider scope of the event from more team coverage, to the production of the race. I want to watch the sporting element of the race, the strategies, the leaderboards (as someone mentioned) for the event, not interested in each participants justification for why, but rather how they are racing.
