Impossibly implausible and annoying
29 June 2013
Why was this made? It is so shot full of holes. To say you might have to suspend disbelief once in a while is a gross understatement. I would have liked to enjoy the worthy performances and good effects but I just had to keep shaking my head in disbelief as inconsistencies piled up and insanely impossible situations kept unfolding. It seems we are to accept that nearly an army of men and women, with a beyond arsenal of weaponry, all were nice and tidy able to be within a stones throw of the white house and all emerged without any interference. The gigantic plane in the beginning? La-di-da into secure air space? Then only two fighters attempt to stop it, after it has been shooting up the neighborhood like a bunch of drunk cowboys? Why? Why bother presenting such a farce?

Melancholia (2011)
2/10
Painfully slow, annoying camera and barely audible dialog.
3 December 2011
The movie is painfully slow to watch. It is visually annoying in that it seems a 10 year old is holding the camera. Constant wiggling, fast panning and zooming. Even when two people are just sitting, talking, the camera is bobbing up and down. I have no idea what the filmmaker was trying to do with this technique - other than to annoy. The dialog at times is barely audible. I had to keep the volume turned up to maximum, but still hold a remote in my hand for when a sudden scene change occurs and the volume shoots through the roof. This movie is one big pain to sit through. I can't help but wonder why such big name actors signed on.

Setup (I) (2011)
Diamond heist goes bad - so goes this movie
11 September 2011
Maybe the second half of this movie gets better. I don't know because I couldn't stand watching any more than I did. I forgave the cheesy film look, figuring it was intended to be part of the look and feel of calibre of these characters - low grade hoodlums and unprofessional professionals. The sequencing of events is clumsy. The believability of what each of the characters is doing is way low. How one of the mob guys shoots himself in the head while waiting for "a bag" (was it pot? big deal!) is highly questionable. That the diamond guy ("hit man") finds our protagonist so easily, then tells him he's got a week (a week!?) to make good...well it was about there I began to consider to quitting this movie. How did they get Bruce Willis to sign on? Willis as the "mob boss" was...well, what can I say. His smirk just didn't convey Godfather. This movie is not worth watching.
