Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023)
Not even worth being free
I had a free rental so I figured why not. Now I am left questioning my choices in life. This movie was horrible. Terrible writing, the cgi was atrocious, the acting... I don't know if it was the bad script or they were directed to act like they have the personality of a cardboard box! If given an option between this movie and Green Lantern, choose Green Lantern! Seriously, the only reason I am putting in the time to ecen write this review is because there's still 15 minutes left and my husband decided to punish me for picking this movie by forcing me to sit through the entire thing! As if the first 15 minutes was not punishment enough!
Argylle (2024)
More than expected
Honestly, I was expecting an okay movie, I got so much more. I loved this movie. It was so over the top, with cheesy cgi, unplausable action sequences , a great cast and lots of laughs. You think it was bad cgi, I walked away feeling that they purposely used the cgi the way they did, they absolutely knew what they were doing with it and it works with the movie. It was not meant to blow your mind, it was meant to enhance the ridiculousness of the scenes!
This was not a Bond or Mission Impossible movie, if you were expecting something like that, of course you were disappointed! Have you not seen a Sam Rockwell movie? Come on! Go in looking for fun, not a drama. Too colorful for you? You know what I'm talking about, you should have been laughing not rolling your eyes. 10/10, will watch again, will enjoy it just as much the next time!
The Flash: Duet (2017)
Not as bad as they say
I thought this episode was cute, not as bad as everyone is saying! Flash and Supergirl singing the song superfriend was adorable. It was definitely needed after all the serious drama filled episodes of Flash going on. I'm not going to hold the off key singing against them either! Lol
I, Frankenstein (2014)
So glad I saw this movie
I am a big fan of this genre of movie. This however was one of the only movies I really had no interest in seeing, I didn't look into it and I only randomly saw commercials for it. It was my husband who kept going on about how he couldn't wait to see it and how good it looked.
All I can say now is that thankfully I didn't come to IMDb to look up what people were saying about I, Frankenstein. If I read the reviews posted here I would never have suggested we go see it the other night as a treat for him. The amount of bashing and bad reviews this movie has gotten has been ridiculous. I honestly don't know what people expect going into a movie, especially those who go in expecting something to be exactly how a book, or graphic novel, was. Things are never the same, sometimes that is good and sometimes it is bad.
I, Frankenstein has its good and bad points, the good by far outweighs the bad. The first bit of cgi in the beginning left me thinking, "this is going to suck." But it didn't, I'm not sure if they screwed up editing the movie and just didn't finish that scene or what but none of the rest of the cgi looked like that one scene. Part of the storyline should have been introduced right away rather then it being mentioned much later and some of the other story line could have been introduced differently. But too, that can be over looked after seeing the whole movie.
What made I, Frankenstein worthwhile for us, as we both loved it, was the fact that it was going back to how, yes i'll say it too, the Underworld movies were. Those movies were fun, they were enjoyable! When I recognized all the actors from those movies, it made it that much better, it was like catching a glimpse of an old friend and getting one of those silly little grins it causes.
People have even bashed this movie for it's lack of an R rating... really? Why does that matter? I'm perfectly fine with it's rating, it didn't need to be changed. Blood and gore is not always necessary and why would you need nudity in this movie? Is that what people need to enjoy movies these days? I'll take the special effects this movie had any day over those things. The gargoyle graphics were fantastic, the demons were alright, great concept for their deaths, the fight sequences weren't so quick you couldn't make anything out which was a nice change.
To put it simply, as a lot of people just read the end of the reviews. This movie is great if you want to have fun and especially if you enjoyed the Underworld movies. Go in without expectations of what you think should happen in the movie. The only one who can truly decide if they like the movie is you. But honestly, I would have been upset if I missed seeing this movie because I had read the bad reviews.
