I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990)
Enjoyable
An enjoyable romp by the cast of Boon who are obviously enjoying themselves in a silly but entertaining horror.
Not to be taken seriously , not the greatest horror , a definite B-Movie as it was supposed to be , so for me it hits the targets .
If you liked Boon a motorcycle courier and almost Rockford files English TV programme with Michael Elphick and Neil Morrisey just shot in Nottingham rather than Birmingham which the film is then u will probably enjoy the actors hamming it up.
Reminded me of some of the old Dracula films by Hammer , but using a motorbike instead of a foreign Count and that i think is what it is a Homage to Hammer by a TV cast using cheap effects and filming worth watching just don't expect too much.
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
Brilliant (shot in style )70's style film
Very cool , very chic , very watchable, u can like others go on about storyline , plot , blood , watch 70's Hong Kong/Chinese cinema and two films called Lady Snowblood ( Blizzard from the Netherworld and Love song of Venegeance ) which Quentin mentions in the DVD extra's and you will find if anything it is toned down and the black and white sequence and the silhouetted worked well at giving it that period feel and got some scenes through the censor. This was a cool film to be watched and enjoyed at an adult cartoon level and works perfectly.
I have come to this film late and am about to watch the sequel and i have watched the DVD version , and it is worth buying/watching for the making of film too , if only to get the enthusiasm of both Uma and Quentin
The Last Samurai (2003)
Great or good ?
Good or great or average ? I'm still not sure , some of the scenes are shot great and Cruise gives a good acting performance as does the great English actor Timothy Spall Billy Connolly plays himself and the Japanese actors are what I'd expect realistic .
But i have so many problems with the film too ,the ending well i don't think so , into the valley of death etc and the only survivor well there's a surprise.
But still on the positive u get carried with film's style and also that the Japanese speak, well Japanese has to be a positive. The action is shot well although perhaps the ninja weren't quite as well trained as you might expect .
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Great film
Has to the best horror with action film I've seen , the style , gore and pure tension is just superb. The DVD version i just watched has got great extra's that definitely add to the film . the reason i think that the film has such a great feel is that the gore and effects are spot on not the over kill of some , where lets just splatter some more blood on just ends up ruining the effects like so many old horrors do e.g Hammer or Romero. If someone suffered injuries they looked like they ought to , the special effects guy should get some sort of an award . I thought the fact that the zombies could move quickly was a good idea after all why not , its not like they are going to get tired of running like we do is it ! All in all better than the original in thats it looks and feels real in a way that Romero would love to have been and just wasn't.
Hudson Hawk (1991)
Best Film Ever
A comic film in a comic book style not to be taken seriously as most critics and Americans did , its funny fast paced and by far Bruce Willis's best film.Richard E Grant over played his evil character to perfection ( In an English Pantomime Style ) in short worth watching if u dont take things seriously and want to watch something to make u laugh.
