Kumari Srimathi (2023)
A witty, clean, wholesome narrative with spot on casting!
As a non Telugu speaker, I finished the entire series in one go. Also to be noted, my genre of choice is crime thrillers and yet, this lovely story drew me in and did not divert my attention for a minute.
At the heart of the plot is a simple storyline and exaggerated subplots or emotional oversteering could have completely ruined the experience, the entire crew including the spot on cast, director, writer, set designer- each and every single person who contributed to the story, stayed true to it and did not let it slip away.
Gautami, Rameshwari,Naresh are veterans with no ambiguities in their ability to deliver stellar performances.
Nithya Menen is a treat to watch in any role she takes on and this one is no different. She plays the part brilliantly and charms away with her infectious smile.
I do hope they go on to build out the second season and complete the very interesting story arc.
Pathaan (2023)
Challenges human intelligence!
Was it just me who feels that this was a heck of a movie for John Abraham, and him alone!
I don't think this fellow has done as much justice to his roles as the protagonist as he has done in this movie by being the antagonist.
SRK does what he does, uses past movie punches and crack lame jokes, intense eye locks amd smushing his forehead into the forehead of his fellow actresses in what is supposed to look intimate.
Salman's cameo promoting his movie and a loud hint that we are likely to see SRK reciprocating with a cameo in Tiger.
Anyway, back to this one, why why why! One of the things that is weird is that they spent barely any thought to SRK's face. They probably got so caught up in his abs for the song that they didn't look at how bad the barely there moustache shadow was making SRK look dull. Especially with John Abraham looking sharp and dapper all along. And it is painfully obvious that John is far more fit and believable in the exaggerated action sequences all through the movie. No wonder they had no option but have his death sequence stem from an accidental slipping. There was no way SRK was going to be able to win fair and square. Possibly the only scene where the writer and directory gave some room to logic.
The plot is okay but tedious with way too many action scenes packed in. Good thing is Deepika has a fair amount of screen time with good stunts. She just didn't have to be dressed all the time in extremes , wearing either too little or too much clothes.
Also there is an overwhelming amount of sepia tones making everything very brown and dull except for the songs.
Dimple is a treat to watch, Ashutosh Rana is wasted. Prakash Belawadi is hugely and sadly wasted as well.
I don't think there's any point in talking about all the flying scenes, action on ice sequences, jumping off buildings, landings beyond human intelligence and what not.
And this is the movie that is supposedly saving Bollywood from its failing glory.
Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022)
Epic fun!
So glad to see movies of this quality churn out of the mostly reliable Malayalam film industry.
Basil Joseph has done outstanding justice to this role and Darshana has essayed her character with stunning perfection.
This is not an unusual saga. This is real. This happens. The scenes where the husband beats up the wife and takes her for a treat afterwards as an apology only to repeat it again is heartbreakingly real. The way the friends talk about this casually and write it off is just as surreal.
The supporting cast did an amazing job at playing key roles with finesse.
The feather on the cap was the jaw hurting laugh that this movie could elicit out of the audience with such a grave underlying subject. Hats off to the director, writer, the entire team for a brilliant movie that deserves a pan audience.
Guilty Minds (2022)
Outstanding!
3 more episodes to go. But what an amazing production, casting, stories and acting. A series that does not insult the intelligence of the audience.
So much care taken to craft the story line and the casting. Not one actor is out of place. Not a single story is shallow. Proper closure to each episode.
Such a treat to watch a show of this genre. Courtroom dramas have great potential and we have not had the opportunity to see many in the Indian set up, let alone in courts of different cities in India.
Whoever scouted the locations and found actors to play parts native to the locale did a spot on job.
Shriya Pilgaonkar has the perfect opportunity to showcase her talent and lineage and does great justice to her role. Sugandha Garg is a treat to watch. Varun Mitra has a very interesting character sketch and has given his best to essay it.
Many veterans such as Kulbhushan Kharbanda,
Shakti Kapoor,Benjamin Gilani, Satish Kaushik,Sadhana Singh and others have lovely parts in the story line and have played them exceedingly well.
Once again, to whoever read the script and greenlit it, thank you! Thank you for not insulting the intelligence of your audience and giving us a decent watch worth our time.
Gehraiyaan (2022)
Shallow story, shallow performance
What a waste of time this was! And what a waste of time and effort for someone like Naseeruddin Shah. Wonder what convinced such a stellar actor to join this cast. And Rajat Kapoor! Actors of the caliber of Mr. Shah and Mr. Kapoor should never be subjected to a shallow film such as this one.
First up, I would hate to admit that Ananya was way better than any of the others in this lackluster movie. And that's definitely quite telling.
A story that's the polar opposite of what it's title proposes.
All the hype around the intimacy director on the set to keep sensitivities and sensibilities in check made me look forward to a nuanced performance. Unfortunately, the very first few scenes where Deepika Padukone and Siddhant started to eye each other, it was going south, and fast. Siddhant was a poor casting choice. There was no convincing trigger for Deepika and Siddhant's infatuation/infidelity. And all the grabbing and kissing with such blank faces was so off putting. Forced chemistry at its best.
And before you know, there is tears, depression, suicides, murder, what not. And the reveal was so predictable as was the ending. Such a desperate attempt.
How hard must one be trying to buy in audience,to introduce a lone sub plot where an old couple are stranded in the middle of the ocean to be rescued by Siddhant and given a loud dialogue with emphasis that though old, she has a sharp memory. Cringe worthy moment. You knew exactly in that minute, that this old lady was going to reappear almost an hour later at the end of the movie to give away Deepika's secret.
Also need to point out that there was not a minute devoted to telling the audience why Ananya's character would be in love with this guy. Or why she so desperately stayed in love.
What a treat to watch the elite Who's who in Bollywood bending over backwards to praise and promote this meh movie!
Good job Amazon Prime- get more lazy people on the team to review the proposals and content on your platform.
Kurup (2021)
A Dulquer sized letdown!
Great example of not living up to all the fancy hype!
Oh man! Didn't think there was going to be a movie where Dulqer's acting and backstory would make every other actor in the movie look impressive!
The protagonist of this narrative is also the antagonist and neither character sketches do anything to the viewer except confuse them. This is not a character one can fall in love with or empathize with or even sympathize with.
It's a character based on a real life -Sukumara Kurup who is an Indian fugitive and one of the most-wanted criminals in the Indian state of Kerala. Not much is known of him and hence so many gaps as the makers of this movie attempt to put together a narrative.
I believe they were unsure if this was a character worth glorifying or condemnation and with Dulquer's stardom, this wasn't a wise confusion to have.
Mammooty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram and even Fahad have all convincingly essayed the roles of characters with grey shades.
Indrajith with his know-it-all stance gets more relevant screen time and almost manages to do a better job than Dulquer.
Sunny Wayne's was the fun part that had no beginning or end.
Shine Tom managed to do the only bit that had a great acting arc to it and did it justifiably well. Saiju Kurup is given no significant scenes though his character is crucial to the story. Hurts to think Tovino agreed to be a part of this fiasco even though his character is also central to the story itself.
Sobhita Dhulipala was the biggest disappointment. Completely curious whether the only reason she was cast is to bring back an image of the popular Mammooty-Shobana pair from ages ago. Besides being someone with a vague physical resemblance to the versatile actor Shobana, she brings nothing to the table in terms of appearance or acting.
And today, there are plenty of commendable female actors in the Malayalam industry to overlook this casting choice.
All said, this was a wasted watch. Nothing worthwhile here - the script, the actors, the narrative- all just there because someone thought it was a great story to tell but then realized there was nothing inspiring after all. Dread that there's probably going to be a sequel.
Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea (2021)
Tedious narrative, a tired aged cast
What an embarrassing narrative to watch on the big screen! So relieved it was viewed on the TV with a remote that could conveniently skip through some parts.
Three hours of a tiring storyline , mediocre acting and an empty feeling. Having grown up watching stellar movies and performances by many in the cast including Mohanlal, Nedumudi Venu, Siddiqi,Innocent, Suhasini, Manju Warrier, Prabhu and others, this was a mind boggling experience. Why did any of these veteran actors agree to be a part of this tedious script!
And why was so much hype there!
Pranav Mohanlal's qualification for the role of the younger Marakkar was that he is Mohanlal's son and convincingly passes off as his father's younger self. Kalyani Priyadarshan is possibly cast as she is her dad's daughter.
Keerthy Suresh has a brief and decent role as does Jay J Jakkrit.
The veteran actors all give earnest performances and have been cast in much more deserving scripts once upon a time.
But the story leaves one feeling bland, empty, devoid of any emotions. At the end of the movie, they have a note that tells us who Marakkar was and we read through it. That's about it.
Then we spend a minute to wonder what was this big deal about him being a great naval commander and being Lion of the Arabian Sea when all that was shown of it was one war on the sea (the same one we see in the trailer). So much for an epic movie. Well, atleast it was one epic letdown.
Chhorii (2021)
A supernatural take on a core social issue
Brilliant!
And before I go any further, I have to admit that I would have never thought that Nushrratt Bharuccha could have pulled it off. Well done!
And I can't recollect another movie in the horror /supernatural genre that I have seen which has a deep rooted social issue as it's central theme. The story is fluid, the horror elements were appropriate and tied back together into the narrative without lose ends.
Yes, if one were to pick on little misses like the not so great make up on the kids, some overt shots of the horror elements, you could find a few. But those don't distract the viewer from what the story is or wanting to know where it all leads to.
Female foeticide is real and prevalent in India. In fact, it has one of the highest female foeticide incidents in the world. It has to change. It needs to change.
Using cinema as a medium to call it out is a great idea. If it stirs the conscience of enough people to affect a real change, then it would be outstanding.
Jai Bhim (2021)
Tough watch, outstanding cinema
Watched two excellent movies back to back- Chhorii and Jai Bhim.
Both tough to watch. Please watch it. Do watch it.
This was harder to watch than the scariest horror movies. Breaks my heart to know this happened to real people. My soul hurts to think of what people suffer in the name of caste, social status, presumptions based on appearance, their financial status.
This may be a story from Tamil Nadu but it is one that happens across the country to those from the so called lower social strata.
With actors like Suriya at the helm, the film was bound to get attention and traction but it is the team of actors, script writers, director et al who pulled this together.
Lijomol Jose had a focal role and she stood her ground with a stellar performance.
The brilliance of an actor like Prakash Raj shines through in movies like this. His nuanced performance, umpteen moments where he conveys everything with the mere movement of eyes, a raised eyebrow and so forth is fascinating to watch.
Of course, the hard work that went into both the making and the performance by Suriya is evident and applause worthy.
What stands above all are the real people whose story this is. If only these stories brought to light on celluloid would trigger a real change in mindsets of the people and the society at large, it would be a big win.
Thalaivi (2021)
Fascinating!
When the trailer was out, I only gave it a cursory watch and forgot all about it. Also happened to see some reviews that sort of wrote this movie off. Though I also noted that these were the same reviewers who went out of their way to send praises to Farhan Akhtar for Toofaan even when putting down that movie.
What started off as a time pass watch of a new movie on Netflix quickly demanded attention. This was the story of a woman the nation knew yet did not know. Admittedly there is more to the life of the fascinating Ms. Jayalalithaa. A lot more than what can be covered even in 3 hrs of movie time. She was someone who commanded equal attention in her achievements as well as her controversies.
I have not been a fan of Kangana Ranaut's tendency to land herself smack into the midst of one controversy after another but it was hard to discount or dismiss her acting as she effortlessly moved from one scene to the next. She has come a long long way from when she started in the movies.
With an acting powerhouse like Arvind Swami essaying the role of MGR, it was an easy duet. The key supporting cast in the likes of Raj Arun and Bhagyashree did justice to their roles while other close confidantes like Sasikala were not key to this narrative.
The movie did devote a good amount of time to the time before Jayalalithaa found her way into politics and while that was relevant to her growth and personality, it cost length and time and could have done with more edits.
I did not spend a whole lot of time reading the reviews in here but personally enjoyed this movie and the ending only made me want for more. That is pretty telling for a movie that was 2hrs33mins long.
#Home (2021)
A few days from an ordinary life- relatable
A stellar ensemble with an outstanding performance by Indrans! There is probably not a Keralite, spanning several generations, who is unfamiliar with Surendran Kochuvelu, better known by his stage name Indrans.
And what a powerful performance yet again. This is an actor who can invoke a range of emotions in his audience. His comedic prowess begs no introduction. But the magic he brings to characters such as the one he potrays in #Home deserves kudos.
There is some length in the narration, but it is a story that is easy on the eyes and heart. It's a few days from the pages of an ordinary household's life.
Malayalam cinema is doing wonders today by giving wings to ordinary, relatable narratives filled with exemplary performances. And it is doing a commendable job by putting together amazing ensemble to breathe life into these narratives. Reminiscent of the 80's and 90's, perhaps before that too. Routine commercial success driven cinema did take over this industry for a while so it is heartening to see good stories and lovely actors doing good work again.
Here's wishing great success and love to this lovable work of cinema named #Home.
Malik (2021)
As a story brought to life equally by every single cast member- outstanding!
Malayalam cinema is known for stellar performances from all the supporting cast and crew and this movie is a great example of one such outstanding performance.
Even though Fahad is the titular character and the thread holding several narratives, every character etched out is complex yet nuanced.
And as such, taking any character or their story out would have plunged the whole movie.
This kind of story is truly not my cup of tea, but I enjoyed every moment of it and did not lose interest for a moment.
It was a pleasure to see Jalaja bring the mother's character to life.
Dileesh Pothan had a key responsibility to play someone worthy of all the hatred and he played the role convincingly.
Joju George, like in many of his previous movies, was cast in a central role with layers- both misunderstanding and misunderstood and did complete justice to the role.
Nimisha Sajayan, has yet again lived and breathed the role, like it were a routine day in her life.
It was a treat to watch someone with the caliber of Indrans being cast in an unpalatable role. He is a genius and performed with such conviction.
Sanal Aman too deserves a nod for an understated performance that strengthens the plot throughout the movie.
Much as I want to talk about the plot of the movie, I felt the need to talk about the stellar performances of every single person in the movie.
The transitions of the decades was handled very well.
Mahesh Narayanan ought to give himself a pat on the back for delivering a nuanced cinematic treat where every single cast member was given an equally weighted role.
Toofaan (2021)
Miserable! Cliche! Predictable! Why was this made!
Goodness!!!
The whole transformation promos are the only catchy part of this movie!
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra thought this was a masterpiece that he was creating and couldn't resist casting himself in the movie.
* Spoiler*****
Why in the name of anything sensible does one have to kill the wife/love interest to ignite the sense of purpose in the male lead!
Unless it was because Farhan had zero chemistry with his lady love. Actually, Farhan manages to bring zero chemistry with any of his co-stars, including the child who is cast as his daughter.
Boxing sequences are pretty much what's in the trailers plus an itty bitty bit here and there!
Looks like Farhan's only carrot was the mileage with the transformation. He looked way too old for the first half of the movie. Add to that those miserable jeans and shirts that he was made to wear and it was a preview of the misery that lay ahead. Not to mention his half hearted go at the gali-mohalle ka language.
In contrast, he looks sharp and the right age in the comeback bit but what's the point.
Paresh Rawal is a fantastic actor but not the best fit for the coach. But one can easily see why he was cast in this miserable movie. Someone with his caliber was needed to portray the dad who had a religious bias, a stubborn side and yet become a forlorn old man with melting emotions a few cuts later.
And the comeback, post a very 'visible' weight gain and attitude setback, was easier than soft butter going on a toast.
If only !
P. S: A whole slew of wonderful actors and potential wasted- Vijay Raaz,Sonali Kulkarni,Supriya Pathak.
Bonus: Darshan Kumar - this guy needs to show up in more movies.
Imlie (2020)
Credible chemistry; what's in a story!
Honestly, very reluctant to leave a review on this because that would mean admitting that I do watch this serial.
When I randomly flipped through a few of these serials and came across Imlie, I knew right away that it was a remake of some sort because I had seen a few episodes of something similar in Malayalam. This seems to be a trend to remake serials that have found success (or not) in other Indian languages.
Anyway, I barely saw the initial episodes and ended up getting hooked on this serial somewhere mid way.
This is not my genre nor am I the intended audience pool. Yet, if there was one thing that drew me to this, it was the chemistry between Sumbul and Gashmeer. Also, the chemistry between Gashmeer and Mayuri.
I read a few reviews lamenting the infidelity being promoted and that really isn't the case. As with most serials these days, there are weird premises, loud acting, music, dance, filler moments and what not.
It's not the era of the likes of Saans, udaan, Shanti,Tara and so forth. So it's all about expectations.
Over the top scenes with all the three lead characters saving one another's lives in scenes stretched thin(for lack of imagination), the melancholic music notes that recur almost a split second before the actual moment and over zealous portrayals are all part of this ensemble.
Nevertheless, the cast be it Ritu Chaudhary,Vijay Kumar,Rakesh Maudgal, Gaurav Mukesh ,Jyoti Gauba, Chandresh Singh,Indraneel, Kiran Khoje, Meena Naithani, Astha Agarwal, Vijaylaxmi Singh, Naren Kumar and others have all done a great job of tying into the story with spot on performances.
And to circle back to where I started, I was unfamiliar with Gashmeer, Sumbul and Mayuri so it was good to see protagonists who were subtle looking and not overwhelming in their appearance yet great with their chemistry per the need of the story.
Mayuri and Sumbul build a great rapport and yet when the seeds of doubt are sown, Mayuri does justice to the subtle changes in the relationship.
Same with Gashmeer and Sumbul- from a relationship that was casual run-in in the village, to a forced alliance, to a pretentious life, the anger-scared relationship stumbles on to an acknowledgment of something more. Gashmeer and Sumbul have both done a great job of acing the chemistry and direction of the script.
Personally, I have enjoyed the serial thus far even though I have skipped some of the less interesting filler scenes and sketches. And I am curious to see what unfolds here on.
Spoilers-
And the curiosity killed the cat! From having my attention to a nose dive to cringetown - this one is leaving a bad taste.
At this point, Mayuri's character Malini is a full blown negative person while the 'nakli Nani' is the righteous one. So the writers had options- the Malayalam story arc went with focus on the education of the girl from the village and ended on her becoming a doctor. I am thinking that the other languages gave the option to have the kid from the village suddenly forgetting all about her education and focus on the marriage.
Writers chose to do a 360 on Malini's character - a sensible, educated, working woman to become the most conniving and heartless human being.
So that's what audiences still like these days?
I guess this would be a great opportunity for the likes of Ekta Kapoor and other Lead producers to start looking for and promoting content that is reflective of a progressive not regressive society.
Kilometers and Kilometers (2020)
Falls flat on its face !
Wow! It's baffling to see such mediocre content being put forward by Malayalam cinema when there's so much experimentation and novel scripts being written and brought to life.
The premise is a problem in that it tries to establish and validate the notion that family, relations are of utmost importance in the Indian culture and that American or Western society is money driven.
Anyone who has traveled the world or researched would know that relations, family form the core of all and any culture around the world. The way that plays out may be different. Just because divorce, remarriage, raising step children etc are not unusual in the western countries, it is by no means pointing to a conclusion that the value of family is trivial.
So yes, it is not surprising to hear many people alluding to notions such as this one that family is not important to the foreigners.
Tovino goes overboard in playing the part of a simpleton "aiyyo paavam" guy. The director/writer failed to notice that the protagonist actually comes across as a failure - a youth who whiles away his time drinking, borrowing money from anyone and everyone with no attempt to doing anything fruitful to pick up the pieces and find the drive to earn a livelihood.
Anyone could have played the part of the 'American tourist' and it would have made no difference.
If this was intended as a road/travel movie, that was barely there. A few glimpses here and there of random shooting locations is all that was.
In that aspect,Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi was a pretty good watch.
In all, a big disappointment and I was cringing at the repeat of the "relationship is important " dialogues.
Coolie No.1 (2020)
Distasteful!
It's sad to see the director recreate a terrible let down of an otherwise popular film made in a past decade, catering to a different audience.
To add to it, the director cast his own son and the daughter of another popular actor in this attempt to recreate.
Either the production team had truck loads of money to throw away or because they clinched a deal with Amazon prime to release this sad excuse of a movie, there was minimal risk involved.
The more I see this lead actress in different movies, the more difficult it is to see what caliber she brings as an actress except for the lineage of a very popular grandmother, mother with acting accolades and a dad who is an actor himself.
In all, this was a pretty distasteful recreation of a popular movie from years ago.
Bhaag Beanie Bhaag (2020)
Insufferable
Swara Bhaskar tries hard, way too hard and fails miserably.
It almost looks as if she is bored playing the part. Nothing wrong in wanting to live your dreams and chasing them but she fails miserably in getting any empathy for the character she essays.
Girish Kulkarni, Mona are good actors who didn't get good scripts. Ravi Patel sort of did fine.
All in all, not Netflix worthy. Not funny at all.
Guess a whole lot of lobbying goes on to get these sub par shows on board.
Your Honor (2020)
Interesting plot, crucial casting mistake
Haven't seen the original series, so the premise was interesting. But the central character played by Pulkit Makol was a poor casting choice.
Two issues with this series of which the first is that Shergil fails to present an emphatic side to the role he played. The second being the terrible acting by the guy playing the son. A lot of seasoned actors try to make up for the loopholes including Badola and Vashist.
Servant (2019)
No rhyme, no reason! Slow pace and no thrills !
Oh my goodness! Why is this guy so popular and why in the world is he tied to a horror genre!!
Huge waste of time. Nothing catchy about the storyline. It was like no one knew whether to go the spirit route or the spiritual route and kind of tossed everything up in the air.
No character stands out except the reborn doll.
Every character sketch was given one instruction - be as boring as you can be.
So no wonder this epic fail of a script set up in a lone New York dwelling with about 5 characters in all turned out to be anything but a monotonous one line stretched into 10 episodes.
Guilty (2020)
When Karan Johar's favorites are cast, mediocrity is easily achieved
So Mr. Johar's current favorite Kiara Advani plus someone from the high flying society of Mumbai namely Akansha Ranjan who has no other acting chops to her credit save being besties with popular Bollywood inner circle are the central characters of this well, movie?
Over the top tattoos, unnecessarily overboard with the tasteless skimpy wardrobe and loud language to give probable strength to Ms. Ranjan's character perhaps.
They probably couldn't decide which parts were bad enough to be left out looking at the length of this attempt.
There was hope for this one with a good editing, shorter length and a little more empathetic characters.
Betaal (2020)
Incredibly boring, unsympathetic characters
So let's begin with why 2 **
That's for the thinking of super imposing the existing plot of Vikram betaal for a zombie mish mash. That part was cool. And then full stop.
The character line up plus the casting itself were both equally lack luster.
No single character evoked empathy, fondness, hatred, fear or anything except sheer boredom.
Still trying to understand why all our non-scary zombies spotted blazing hot red eyes that stuck out of the masks. Also wondering what the need was to throw that big scar on Kumra's face while all her male colleagues had spotless forms.
Again, an incredibly boring sketch. Poor casting choices. Zero plot. Poor choice of mask/make up. Zero thrills.
SRK probably should spend a few hours reading through the scripts where he himself cannot show up to charm the audience and hope everyone is forgiving of the missing storyline. Especially not when such fantastic content is out there.
Also, cannot wrap up without calling out Netflix. You guys should stop getting star struck with the big names and actually put in some effort to sieve out talent from the country of a billion people. You guys do a pretty decent job in all the other countries.
Ghost Stories (2020)
Terrifying that someone this terrible was approved for viewing
What is really terrifying and scary is that this pathetic showcase exposes the sad truth that a platform like Netflix which brings a wide range of original content from across the world is is a anything but a puppet in the Indian film and television industry.
How sad that they think KJ and this clan can bring in the masses and hence have credibility when it comes to choosing and presenting credible content!
Zoya - this feature was a mere run of the mill attempt. Even an uninitiated viewer could take a guess as to what the story was.
AK- negative stars here! Oh dear Lord! Some people are just so terribly vain. They believe that a prosthetic tummy which the makeup artist put no effort in, a few dolls snatched from the scenes of the many English movies and a half baked story warrants a praise! The worst of the 4!
Dibankar: Must admit that I had some expectations from this one. Wonder why! But for anyone who has any experience of the zombie genre, this was something to look forward to. Instead the director was confused with his choices. A zombie episode or a back to a Neanderthal /Stone Age mish mash, human emotions in the leader wearing a sad bodysuit! I was almost convinced that this one would end up being just a weird dream of the little bespectacled guy!
KJ
Trust him to dive in 5 mins into the segment to a Sabyasachi advertisement kind of shot sequence. Because he couldn't have helicopters landing from the first shot on, he just consoled himself by having a house covered in the weirdest wallpaper and an over emoting lead actor. Not to mention lots of trash talk and generous sprinkling of cuss words where none were called for.
The very next scene after the 2 min wedding wardrobe adevertisment sent me thinking to the scenes from Get out but with talkative house help.
Oh my God.. I can't believe I am still watching this to see where this one leads to.
Didn't anyone at Netflix think it necessary to review the content and approve this pitiful saga.
Drive (2019)
Beyond pathetic!
Can't believe that the first review I logged in to write is for this disaster!!!!
And also hard to believe that someone convinced seasoned actors like Boman Irani, Pankaj Tripathi and Vibha Chibber to be a part of this disastrous experience.
Sushant Singh Rajput brings the same set of 7 expressions with an annoying smile/snark/constipated look and Jacqueline Fernandez with high thigh slit dresses and a foot long heels driving modified racing cars is supposed to make viewers feel better?
Someone(aka Karan Johar) had a ton of money lying around and sat dreaming big dreams about how to blow it all away and lo behold came the Netflix opportunity piggy backing on his previous success on the streaming giant came to life this annoying atrocious attempt at a high speed, smart Aleck heist drama that did not even bother to put a script together. A hosh posh chop job of putting together a shadow of Fast and the Furious, Gone in 60 seconds, Italian Job and any and every heist movie resulted in this shoddy debacle of a movie.
Really thought Netflix was going to do a better job at screening the content that came their way after the serious letdown of the second season of Sacred Games!
