Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Hegemony (2023)
Incredible season finale
Again, Wow. This episode did such a fantastic job of keeping me on my toes, not knowing if certain characters were alive or not, if this was going to be a two parter or not - one moment yes, but then no, but then yes - great acting, great writing, great production.
If I had one complaint, it would be the underutilization of La'an - I think she is an incredible character and actor, and the one with the Gorn backstory, yet she wasn't a central focus of the story. Given the nature of the cliffhanger, there will be the opportunity to give her character some Gorn related growth.
Played right, the Gorn will offer so many more robust stories. I can't wait for season three.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Under the Cloak of War (2023)
One of the best Trek episodes ever.
Wow. A week after watching this episode I am still thinking about how well it was crafted.
First, taking the horrors of war from a MASH type view into the 23'rd century ... amazing. In a very short time, I hated being there with Chapel and M'Benga as much as they did. To make me believe they could both carry the trauma years later, I was sold.
The episode connects in many ways to the characters history and motivations - M'Benga's methodology to keeping his daughter alive ... how characters not involved in the Klingon war are more accepting of the Ambassador...
My current state of mind is best Trek episode ever - City on the Edge of Forever. #2 - Under the Cloak of War.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Subspace Rhapsody (2023)
It all makes sense
This is an episode about emotions. The story features those who have made an emotional journey through the season, and along the way, with song, has a crisis that the crew must solve. Naysayers seem to be balking at the concept of a Star Trek musical, but if you can accept the expanded interpretation of known characters like Spock, Chapel, Dr. Mbenga, then why is song difficult to welcome to this universe?
I will say that this episode has also served to highlight how under utilized Christina Chong as T'Laan has been - an outstanding actor bringing depth to a character who has so much to unpack - I look forward to more of her story.
I am often smiling from ear to ear after a SNW episode, and this one is no exception. Enjoy boldly going where no one on Star Trek has gone before in this musical episode - embrace the journey.
The Wonder Years: Love & War (2022)
Perfect television
Throughout the episode, I was enjoying the strength of the characters, the family, and thankful for the return of the older brother, rather than the typical someone dies in Vietnam story line. And then the ending. I'm not the one to cry much over fiction, but wow. That was rewarding and so worth it for anyone who watched the original show.
Star Trek Continues (2013)
Appreciate the details
Appreciate the casting. Appreciate the special effects. Appreciate who the characters are, not only in lore but who you may not recognize as canonical. Without giving away spoilers, this series truly does finish the 5 year mission, and it should be accepted as part of the Star Trek story.
Star Trek Continues: To Boldly Go: Part II (2017)
What a payoff
So for this to be my first IMDB review, that must say a lot. If you love Trek, if you know where Star Trek The Motion Picture picks up and TOS left off, then how could it be better than this? Congratulations and thank you to the cast and crew, a fan made series for fans, and I loved every second of the entire series. Moments in this episode brought tears to my eyes - some for the lore of Star Trek and some for the characters you created in this series. I look forward to my rewatch!
