Abandoned (2022)
I have so many questions.
I love Emma Roberts, but this movie was awful. The story is underdeveloped. Why did her character wear and sleep in the exact same outfit and not shower for a week or more? Was that supposed to depict her decent into madness? Then she would wake up the next day looking normal, but always wearing the same clothes and makeup. Her husband never noticed or helped her shower. Even when she finally took a bath, she put back on the same dress. Why didn't she tell her husband that the neighbor was the little boy and that was his childhood home? What did the ghost Dad do to the kids and his wife? Was the ghost Dad raping his wife? Did he chop them up w an axe? What happened to the ghost kids in the attic and why did nobody else in town know they ever existed or went missing? Why were those windows nailed shut? Did she just imagine all those ghosts or did they just stop haunting her when she finally found love for her baby son? Did she destroy and take the stuff in the house bc she was going crazy or was that the ghost? Besides paper towels w flies on them, what was that under the couch and why did she just leave it there? So she never told the husband about all the ghost, the neighbors secret or the kids in the attic or secret room??? What was the point of showing the son growing up and then suddenly she was changing outfits? Lastly, how were they always cooking meals w only eggs and breast milk in the fridge? What was she surviving off of? None of this story makes sense. It's almost like they edited whole scenes out that would explain these things. As the credits began to roll, I kept saying "what? What happened?"
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Matrix/Being John Malkovich on Robot Chicken
Hi,
I work in film/tv. If Michelle Yeoh doesn't bare minimum receive an Oscar nomination along with the Writers and Directors and Editing for this film, then there needs to be some serious discussion about what we are all doing here to begin with.
This movie makes you feel and also helps people understand other people on top of this being incredibly entertaining. It is hard to put this into a genre. I was blown away and walked out crying because it was so great from the theater.
How much genius can one film project???
And Yeoh, there is also awesome martial arts!!!
Brimstone (2016)
This film leaves you in deep thought.
Warning: This film might be too truthful and make some think too much of what women have gone through under the thumb of men as their owned objects. Liz, the main character never gives up even though time after time she finds herself in the grasp of controlling and violent men. This movie Infuriates me, but at the same time lights a fire in me to keep working to move up in this man's world. For all the men complaining about how this is too much and depressing, try to picture yourself being of the female gender who has gone through this type of thing and always looked down on as less than and treated like meat for pleasure because of your genitals. We still have so far to grow in this man's world. The truth usually is not pretty. This film is brilliant. Just look at all the reviews about how people cannot sleep afterward. Lots of women in the 1890s and before were treated this way with almost no hope, but to sell themselves to men. This movie slaps you in the face with truth and some of you cannot bare it.
Bombshell (2019)
Riveting
There is so much talent in this single show I cannot get over it. The actual story angers and inspires me at the same time, as a women working in a man's world. I relate to Megan on so many levels. Especially when she constantly has to tell people that she is not a feminist, just simply trying to seek the truth and do what is right. Several of my favorite actors are shoved into one piece here and I find the directing, acting, costume, production design, to be astounding. So many power-house players all playing powerful women roles. It has made me think of my own career as a Journalist and in film/tv and I believe that when you make ART, the prime goal is to make people think so congratulations. I need to watch this again a few more times.
The Drew Barrymore Show (2020)
Drew is Everything
Drew Barrymore is a Hollywood Legend and we should feel lucky she is still putting her ART out for us to view. Plus she is a kind and good person in general. My favorite episode so far is her birthday one of coarse, but looking forward to see Stephen King on her show bc he is one of my mentors and also a favorite. Thanks Drew
The Haunting of Bly Manor: The Romance of Certain Old Clothes (2020)
Favorite Episode!
This episode is a story within a story that finally shows and finishes tying all the knots together for further understanding. Kate Siegal as Viola and then the Lady of the Lake has such a powerful presence that can be felt to the core. I love the change of pace in this episode and all the answers coming out. This is excellent writing and acting. The casting could not be more on point, like not even a hair out of place. Marvelous
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
One of the Best Horror TV Series in the Last 20 Years
I love this show. Their is so much depth and it forces you to feel.
The villain of this show is Peter hands down. He got caught stealing from the dead and paid for it. He tricks his lover Miss Jessel into killing herself which she immediately regrets. Out of his selfishness he tries to kill off both the children to satisfy his self centered needs and while they are alive he keeps taking over their bodies to commit horrible acts. Peter kills the sweet and loyal House Keeper Mrs. Grose after he takes over Miles body. I hope Peter gets dragged to Hell.
The true hero of this story is Dani Clayton. She saves everybody in the end. Pedretti does an excellent job in her Mom jeans acting in this part. I love that Carla Gugino is the Gardener.
T'Nia Miller deserves the highest awards of her portrayal of Mrs. Grose. Her high level of acting in this story amazes me and should not go unnoticed. She really makes this story for me.
Henry Thomas has been a spectacular actor since ET. Him battling himself is spectacular. His love affair with the kid's Mom and his brother's wife has left him in a grave way.
The writing, ART Dept, and acting in this show is all around superb. I can not express this enough. The Haunting of Bly Manor is a master's class in film making from beginning to end.
Tre ending is not scary for me. I cried the last episode. The writing is so wonderful it makes one reflect on their own lives and their heartache. I can not recommend this show enough and wish others take notice and this level of excellence continues in future shows. Thank You
Ratched (2020)
This is the filmmaking we are all begging for more of.
The costumes and locations are magnificent. The cold lines of Nurse Ratched display her evil underbelly from her very first scene with the brilliant Sarah Paulson. The color changes during big moods is absolutely wonderful. I'm on episode 4 and want to sit and watch the entire thing in one sitting bc so exciting and I have so many unanswered questions. Thank You again Ryan Murphy.
Johnson Family Vacation (2004)
Unrealistic Match
You lost me at trying to say the beautiful Vanessa Williams is with Cedric the Entertainer. These two things are not alike and do not match. Hahaha
The OA (2016)
The OA Season 2 TY
This review isn't really for the readers. I hope that the creators of the show see this. The last episode season 2 has really touched me. In The Overview, from The OAs speech at her discovery at the doctors hidden room to what the Detective sees behind the rose window has touched me. The speech the OA gave made me think of my own life and tragedies. I literally cried when I saw the Detective finally open the rose window just to see the OA floating like the Original Angel she is and what was hidden behind what we do not want to see. Thank You for making this. It has made me think about lots of things in my own existence. Thank You
The Final Table (2018)
Why are the first 3 out of 4 episodes Latin Countries???
I love the great chefs and celebrities by country, but how is it fair that they keep cooking Latin food over and over again? I thought they would jump around a lot more. I feel because they did this, the Latin cooks have had a far more advantage. OK to start off with a Latin country to cook, but then why not completely flip to like India then Japan and then Greece, Jamaica, Russia, Africa and so on???
Atomic Blonde (2017)
Sexy and Exhilarating
This has to be the best sound track of all time! Charlize Theron lights the screen on fire! I am so glad she gave so much to this project. I yelled at the screen and pumped my fist several times during this action packed explosion. Theron proves once again that she is a force to be reckoned with in this character. I would say this is the best she has ever looked but Theron has proved time and time again to be one of the most talented and gorgeous women in the world. Her character has so much depth to it. U will never expect or guess the ending! I love the Costumes they put her in and Art Direction. Where and how did they get these locations? Great Job and I hope this turns into a franchise.
The Pioneer Woman (2011)
Cute Show About Great Southern Food & Family
This show and host is so warm and inviting. You get to see first hand her kitchen, ranch and family. Being from Texas and now living in LA, this makes me miss the South and the good cooking. It is great to see such a close knit family that instills work ethics and spending quality time with your family. My mouth waters at just about everything she cooks. It makes me feel like I am right there with Ree Drummond (the host) and have a personal invitation to visit her loving home.
Feud (2017)
I recommend anyone who has ever loved Hollywood and film to watch this.
With everything that you hear about the once beautiful Joan Crawford through Mommy Dearest, Ryan Murphy & Jessica Lange do an outstanding job of making her seem personable until you feel sorry for her. I think they deserve more Emmys for this. Well Done. Susan Sarandon adds her spunk as Bette Davis and nails it. Thank You Ryan Murphy for your gift of story telling and giving so many women jobs in film/TV. Please grace us with more of your gifts. Jessica Lange is now one of my favorite actresses of all time because of Big Fish, AHS and now Feud. From the Production Design, Costumes, Script to the star studded Cast, this is the true story of old Hollywood.
