IF (2024)
The music in this film was incredibly overcooked
I felt compelled to come in here to write this review, I mostly enjoyed this movie, a like John Krasinki's other works, but this really missed the mark for me... the main issue of contention was the music.
The music was a constant hindrance to my enjoyment of this film, taking me out of the moment at every emotional beat. It feels as though the music is a never-ending barrage of interruption that doesn't match the tone of what is occurring on the screen most of the time; super generic, and unmemorable - a sad attempt at emotional manipulation and resonance, and made the whole experience feel like a mess. I found myself begging for the music to stop by the end.
The theme kept repeating over and over again at what felt like the most inopportune times, regardless of what was happening. When the theme played again when the credits rolled, I was filled with contempt for it, as I really felt the music robbed me of the experience of enjoying this touching story.
Prehistoric Planet (2022)
Absurdly good.
The level of realism in the modelling and animation had me frequently forgetting that what I was watching on screen wasn't real. This show is truly a remarkable achievement that managed to illicit within me a child-like wonder.
Simply WOW!
Luca (2021)
Awful
Disjointed, zero stakes, uninteresting characters, poor writing, and disappointing animation. It's the worst Pixar movie I've seen and I've seen them all except the Cars sequels. I felt nothing for the characters or what they were going through. Could not connect with them or the story. I highly recommend you DON'T watch this movie. Save yourself the time.
