Lincoln is back
8 March 2024
Andrew Lincoln is back and it seems like he hasn't lost a beat. His acting is spot on, he brings the same magic that made the walking dead special. The show and the story looks great, although I think it's too early to make judgements about that, but it looks promising no doubt, I can't wait to see where it goes. I like the fact that they tied up all the loose ends about what happened after Rick's abduction. It was needed.

I'm not a hundred percent convinced about the other female character that is fighting along Rick, but I'm just nitpicking really.

Great on all levels, let's hope they keep it up.

Elvis (2022)
4/10
A mediocre movie at best
1 September 2022
Elvis was a disappointment. The story telling and editing especially in the first half is appalling. Micro scenes all stitched together in a cartoonist bizarre way constantly going back and forth in time. Tom Hanks acting was horrible, childish and unrealistic. The first part of the movie is more about Parker than Elvis and it's painful to watch. Making him the narrator was a horrible mistake.

Austin did a good job but there's so much he can do with this sort of dreadful story line and directing. What a waste of talent.

This movie doesn't do any justice to Elvis, his talent, his personality or his legacy.

Scream (I) (2022)
7/10
Good for what it is!
11 May 2022
I'm not sure how to call this genre of horror, funky horror, teen horror, fun horror maybe. It doesn't matter really, what matters is that it's a kind of horror that doesn't take itself too seriously. And the sequel to scream does that quite well. It's entertaining, there are no dull moments, a few scares here and there, and it keeps you guessing until the end. The constant references to horror movies are a bit annoying but at least they're somehow connected to the plot.

Don't set your expectations too high, grab your popcorn and let the slashing begin!

The Batman (2022)

Would have been better without a Batman.
17 April 2022
Watching the Batman felt like watching serious suspense thriller drama movies like 'The untouchables', 'Prisoners', 'Silence of The Lambs', 'Seven', 'Side Effects'. I really like those type of movies but would you want to see Batman in any of them?

I guess they would still be decent movies but the superhero presence would kind of ruin them in some ways.

The Batman has too much plot complexity, depth and drama which puts the viewer in a certain frame of mind like those other movies I mentioned, but then you see the superhero and the brain has to switch to a different frame of mind. At least for me that doesn't work.

The Joker for example worked as a drama because there were no superheroes.

The Batman is still a good movie but it would have been better with more good action, which kind of lacked, less drama and half hour shorter.

Buildup to nothing
3 January 2022
One of the most unsatisfying movies you'll ever see. Anything that happens that you think will be explained later doesn't get resolved, at all. Nothing is explained and all falls back together for no reason. For example the whole vision thing from Bruno which seemed to be promising turns out to be completely useless. It's as if the first part of the movie was thought out by a bunch of writers and the second half is made up by completely different people. The music is a bit too much, a couple of good songs and a bunch of forgettable ones and the characters were underdeveloped maybe because they were too many.

But the main point is the weak story and I don't understand how anybody to read the script before the movie was made couldn't figure out it had major plot holes.

As good as the first
25 November 2021
Loved the movie, the story was great, all the characters were great especially the villains, as evil as you can get which makes their deaths even more satisfying.

Great action and I was on the edge of my seat right until the end.

If you liked the first one, you'll like this one too.

Good first half but then but then falls flat
24 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked the first half , I kept saying to myself, wow they really have put a lot of effort in the building up and setting up the stage but then when it came down to it, it didn't deliver. Even the action was better in the first part then the second and that's saying a lot. That's because the first part was its own movie and then the second part they tried to cram to many things from previous movies and it turned out to be a big predictable mess. I could almost hear the makers of the movie saying stuff like, 'yea we need a female ghostbuster' and we need to show the old ghostbusters ... and this and that''. Nothing wrong with having female ghostbuster but let her get into the story more, not just all of a sudden she puts on the uniform. The villain also shows up in the end without much buildup, same with the old ghostbusters that just felt like they were forced in. Also the girl's jokes were horrible even though they weren't meant to be funny. Saying a stupid joke at some point in the movie is fine but not in pivotal moment like when she's facing the villain, that just ruins the moment completely, especially because the joke wasn't related to what was happening, it was just random.

I went to theatre to watch a new ghostbuster movie, but it ended up being a nostalgia re-hash of the previous ones. Imaging if in 'Mad-max fury road' Mel Gibson appeared in the second half fighting alongside Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, it would have been crap.

The Guilty (2021)
5/10
Could have been better
14 November 2021
I haven't watched the original and didn't know it was a remake until I read a couple of reviews.

The guilty is an ok movie, but the problem is the lack of scenes outside the phone center and lack of interactions with other character apart from voice characters. I don't know if they wanted to prove the point that you can make a movie with the camera pointed at one actor for a whole movie or if they were short of budget but the fact is that after a while it becomes tedious to watch. Different locations with different actors would have made the film much more watchable even if they wouldn't have added much to the story.

Pretty good

I really liked the movie. Good story, good acting. It flows very well, not for a minute I was bored throughout the movie. Liam Neeson good as always. Give it a chance.

Pretty good, don't trust the bad reviews!
18 May 2021
I don't understand the bad reviews, the movie is pretty good, I enjoyed it. It could have been berrer I guess but that's the way it is.

This hot teacher with a great body is attracted to her student and they have a secret relationship behind the girlfriend back. He She finds out and things get ugly from there. I enjoyed the first half more than the second but overall it was worth watching.

The Rental (2020)
9/10
Good, almost great.
13 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with some of the review, the ending of The Rental is a bit disappointing but it's still worth watching. I would give the first 3/4 of the movie an 8 and the last 1/4 a 6, so an average 7.

The problem I think is that ending was the original idea of the movie. Some psycho who bugs short rental homes and hunts down those who come after him. The rest of the movie is the story built up on the original idea. In the case of the rental the built up story around is much better than the original idea, so much so that they should have scrapped the ending and come up with something else.

The first part of the movie is an intense logical thriller that builds up and up and makes up wonder what's going to happen next. The ending is like a mindless mediocre horror movie.

One possible better ending would have been this for example: an extra character was introduced at the beginning, like a co-workers of the two lovers. For some career money reason this character wanted them dead or ruin their lives somehow. So he or she would be the person in the end behind the whole thing. Just an idea, but it would have kept the movie as a thriller. A little bit like 'the gift', which is thriller/horror but it remains logical and delivers from start to the end.

With that said, it's still a good movie, with good acting. I might watch it again at some point.

The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)
Season 10, Episode 22
8/10
Finally a great bonus episode!
21 April 2021
The bonus episodes of season 10 after the break have been a let down except for the this one, which was very good. It was great to know the history of Negan, the character that single handedly revived the whole series.

I remember watching the last episode of season 6, when Negan made his appearance. It felt like I had been punched in the stomach, never felt that way watching a tv show. The gutsiest, most insane episode ever, followed by the equally outstanding first episode of season 7. The arrival of Negan was a game changer in the Walking Dead, it turned everything upside down.

So knowing the origin of this deep character was very welcoming. The story was compelling and very well done.

I have to admit at the end of episode I would have liked to see Negan kind of starting a Saviors 2.0 era, but it looks like that's not gonna happen. He probably changed too much after he was captured and he's not the same Negan he once was.

The Walking Dead: Diverged (2021)
Season 10, Episode 21

First time I turned off an episode from the walking dead
29 March 2021
What the hell was that? The most boring filler episode I've ever seen. Didn't add anything to the story.

But also the production has gone down. Did they cut the budget or something? The walkers look like dudes with plastic masks and gloves instead of real believable zombies like in previous series. This is worse than nothing at all.

Great documentary about a sick and twisted murderer and cat killer
29 March 2021
I remember when the events shown in this documentary were unfolding I was very much up to date with what was happening. I had seen the video '1 lunatic, 1 ice pick' and I was active on forums that were talking about Luka Magnotta and the whole cat and mouse chase. Anyways, when I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen while watching this, it shows so much that I didn't know about and the ending had shivers going down my spine. How didn't I think of that?

They don't show any of the kittens getting killed by the way which is good, but they do show dead kittens after they've been killed which is probably the only thing that I would have edited out.

This documentary is well made, well presented and it will stay with your for a while after watching it, I've watched it twice already.

Host (II) (2020)
4/10
Nothing too impressive
4 October 2020
I don't really have anything against this movie, but it's very average and I watched it because of the good ratings which are not realistic. This is more of a 5.3 kind of movie. There's no build up to the point when things start going wrong, except 20 min of people talking over each other and munching words (don't they teach at british acting classes to enunciate?). The summoning of the evil spirit lasts like 1 minute, if you blink you miss it. After that it's a lot of cheap scares. Some are well done but still predictable. The last scare is the exact copy of a scene from the first Saw movie when Adam uses the flash camera to see in the dark. After watching Host I thought that maybe I didn't like it because I'm not into paranormal movies but then I remembered I do occasionally enjoy some paranormal horror when it's classy and well done, like the Conjuring or Paranormal Activity. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this movie, but if you have an hour to spare and you're bored, give it a go, there's worse than this out there.

What the first 10 minutes
17 September 2020
This movie is absolute rubbish but somehow the first 10 minutes are really good but that's just because they have nothing to do with the rest of the crap that comes after. I love the moody and quite atmosphere in the beginning, I would have loved to watch a movie that went along following that pace and melancholic tone. But anyways, everything that comes after that has all been seen and done before, but here is much, much worse. Scary noises might work a couple of times but not for the whole movie, characters might make bad choices, but these ones are completely retarded. The worst part is that it's for all nothing, no reasons, no explanations and no rewards to the viewer after having spent an hour hearing sounds and watching masked people playing cat and mouse. This should be shown to aspiring filmmakers, "how not make a horror movie", or to give them some motivation because you can't do worse than this.

This exceeded my expectations. An awesome ending to the saga. Unsettling at times and violent to the extreme. It's a proper Rambo movie that does not hold anything back!

Boring and dull
19 August 2020
I was hoping to like this but it fell completely flat. The character Billy is just annoying. Nothing he does makes any sense which wouldn't be a problem if it was done on purpose but it's not. The movie tries to follow some sort of logic. Why would he want to see his parents? He doesn't even like them. Layla is kidnapped and she's just fine with it. Again, it wouldn't be a problem if she was a bit crazy or if the movie had some surreal undertones but it doesn't.

Bad Roomies (2015)

One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time
1 August 2020
This movie was such a disappointment. I started ok and just went downhill from there. The ending was almost ok until they didn't even get away with it and at that point I just couldn't take it anymore. The shroom bit was funny, but even that could have been done better, with some special effects for example. Overall the concept of the movie was good, but the writing was bad and unoriginal. Whoever wrote this should stop writing scripts.

well done but could have been better
7 July 2020
The first part of the documentary was the most interesting in my opinion. Towards the end it felt like they had run out of things to say. Also even though the story was presented in a chronological way, sometimes it felt like it was jumping back and forth. But overall I really enjoyed watching this, it was well done, and Corey is a courageous man. Well done!

Extraction (2020)

Solid action flick
30 April 2020
I enjoyed watching Extraction, it's a pretty decent action movie. The plot is ok, the acting is alright. Some actions scenes are outstanding, like never before seen camera work going on. However sometimes I could 'feel the presence' of the cameraman which you're not really supposed to in a movie. Another thing I didn't particular like is the amount of killings, just one after the other after the other, it's like the bad guys were spawning out of nowhere. It kind of got repetitive after a while, I blame it on the legacy of John Wick... Buy all in all, it was worth watching, just don't get your expectations too high.

What a bore fest!
15 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If this move hadn't been made by Tarantino the score would be cut in half. But since he's the director all his fans are trying to find some geniality in the movie that just isn't there. It's just sooo boring.

Brad Pitt has one facial expression in the whole movie, and that's ok if he has a small side role, but not ok if he's on screen half of the movie. Margot Robbie side story is completely forgettable and disjointed from the rest of the movie, in fact you could cut all her scenes and nothing would change, except you would have to endure the flick for half hour less. DiCaprio stuttering sounds really forced and fake.

There's some over the top action and acting in the end which is mildly entertaining but not enough to save the movie. It's completely unrealistic. The days of raw realistic acting of Reservoir Dogs are gone.

A couple of things I liked: When Rick Dolton is struggling to deliver a good performance and then he's angry, talks to himself, comes back and then delivers a great performance. That was good, it showed some emotions and him overcoming his fears. Also the Bruce Lee bit was pretty good, Mike Moh was incredible.

But all in all "Once Upon a Time ...in Hollywood" is a boring disordered mish mash that I wish I hadn't seen .

Mildly entertaining
23 September 2019
It's not as good as any of the fast and furious movies, the story isn't the best (bad dude is almost sci fi) but if you're really bored on a Sunday afternoon and you like mindless over the top action give it a go.

Not too bad
16 April 2019
I don't get all the bad reviews, I'm not going to trust Imdb anymore. The movie kept me entertained and had a good interesting twist in the end too. The two main actors did a great job. It could have been developed better for sure, but at the end of the day I enjoyed it and I'm glad I gave it a chance.
