I liked the story.
3 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I know there is something wrong with me. This movie is the second Stephen King recommendation that has not scared me. The story is good. I enjoyed it. I watched it by myself in the late afternoon. Intriguing not scary. The acting was solid. If you like plot twists, it is for you. You don't really spend the movie amazed at the mistakes the characters make. It is a little slow, but it is worth the wait. No sexual nudity, but the girl is nude for the entire show. The show is very atmospheric. Old fashioned horror. If you liked The Witch, you will like this one. Same type of suspense and not every question is answered.

A Texas Version would be nice
20 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The movie is disturbing because the victims are so passive. They need to argue and fight more. I would like a version with a redneck and his outspoken, no filter wife. I can imagine the reaction of the redneck when he sees that freak's face in the window while he watched the couple making love. I can also imagine the redneck's wife reaction when she found that naked freak in bed with their daughter. The bodies in the river bed would be different. Let's do one in South Louisiana and end in a swamp with the intended victims leaving on a pirogue. We'll make it a dark comedy with gators and a trailer.

Not as bad as I thought it would be; plot holes
8 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Florence Pugh never disappoints. She was great. Her costumes were fabulous, but the ballet set by the wives and husbands should have given us a clue of foreshadowing. I would not compare it to Stepford Wives. I would compare it to The Matrix. I would have liked it to continue beyond the screen ending to get answers to several questions. What exactly did Harry Styles and Chris Pines' characters do to make money. I would have also prefered more of an explanation of Chris Pines relationship with his wife. The only sexist moment I saw was the stripper at the party. I also wondered about Harrry Styles' dancing performance resembling a puppet on a string with Chris Pines being the puppeteer. I could have done without the elongated scenes of the monotonous breakfast repetition. Shortened they would have had the same impact. I also wanted an explanation of the plane crash as compared to Margaret's son's toy plane. The completed movie made me feel that explanatory sections were left on the cutting one floor.

Square footage is important, but it's location, location, location.

Warning: Spoilers
It was intriguing from the beginning. The whole time I said no, no, no. I usually can figure this stuff out. I never expected this plot. Not really gory, but it's a thriller. Justin Long is great.

I understood Tess staying at this house when she arrived at night. I did not understand it when she saw the neighborhood or got the warnings. I would have slept in my car.

It was filmed in Bulgaria, but they seem to understand the universal perceptions of Detroit. Whoever wrote the movie did a great job. It's nice to have a plot with some twists. Most stuff out of Hollywood has an agenda. They seem to also remake already great movie. This movie and The Watcher seem to have fresh ideas.

Read the books. Love the series.
26 March 2022
I've read these books multiple times. They are adult fairy tales. No one lived like this ever. Elements of it are true. Reputation not facts were everything. The series and the books are bodice rippers with happily ever afters. The series is a break from our chaotic world where inflation makes you stay home more. The men usually come to their senses and say the right thing. The women are beautiful, and the clothes are fabulous. They took some liberties--so what? It's so much more entertaining than the lies the press pedals. As a school teacher, I need a break from deadlines, abuse of children, and my insignificant paycheck. I can sit in my crappy t-shirt and watch pretty people work through drama and end up happy. Good times for real. Lady Danbury is my favorite. The actress does an excellent job portraying her.

Bizarre and a future cult classic
23 February 2021
Nicolas Cage satisfied my OCD tendencies with his cleaning. Good grief! What cleaning solution did he use. He wiped out that graffiti. Very entertaining! This movie would be great for analysis among an interactive audience. I don't want to give anything away, but it reminded me of the campy 70's and '80s horror movies.

Daniel Craig's Southern accent
1 December 2019
I love Daniel Craig. I did not love him in this movie. As a Southerner with a thick accent, I really resent a Brit trying to use a southern accent. Another issue is a mystery without surprises. The plot was a little predictable and irritating.

Crude ways to describe sex
10 July 2019
This movie has women and men describing sex in the most disgusting ways over and over again. No class. No heart. Just sad. The story had potential, but we had to be gross.

Keep the politics out!
15 June 2019
A few funny things but overall boring. I went to see it for Bill Murray. It's like a group of actors got together and did a movie about what they think is funny.

Loved it. Hilarious
10 February 2019
Went to see a popcorn flick. Laughed out loud at the Fargo style humor. I want to drive my car into a chandelier Persian carpet style garage. Loved the credits. Very different. Macabe. It's really dark. Not your typical Liam Neeson flick.

Gross. The whole movie was repulsive. Nauseatingly so!! I have never seen so much vomit. Not funny. Oscar cringefest. The Green Book was so much better!! I was so optimistic. Great actresses and actors. If you want a female lead movie, see Annihilation. The Favorite takes a discounted version of history written by a politician that offended the queen and shows everyone at their worst.

Entertaining-not great

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't hate this movie, but they cornered the disability market. If you want to increase bad language, introduce the world to tourrettes syndrome. They also brought in a main character with Asperger's. It was creative. They also predicted that humans will disappear in two generations due to climate change. Good way to spend time vegging out.

Why don't people turn on lights?
27 June 2018
If you like Witch, you will like this one. It's slow. It's disturbing. It's a story of extremely disconnected and unsympathetic people. I now understand what people mean when they lack communication as a family. The house reflects the poor health of the family. From the outside, the house reflects a certain amount of wealth. The inside is dark and isolating and sets the whole tone. I felt the need to throw holy water at the end and watch inane cheerful comedies all night. It left a bad aftertaste.

Shakespeare does not need tampering.
10 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Macbeth is a great play. So many great scenes were changed or omitted. Where are the supernatural events? Why did Macbeth set so many fires? Why were the prophecies not followed? Don't watch this to avoid reading the play. You will fail any test you take over Macbeth. Very little of the original play is portrayed correctly.
