BLOOD MONEY
28 November 2020
Sad to say that money was more important than people's lives. Boeing, and FAA both are responsible for these tragedies. These documentaries expose the lies, cover-ups and what is tantamount to homicide and second degree murder all in the interests of big business and profits above all.

Tour of Paris for $7.50
18 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Well it did remind me of Paris and has rekindled my wanderlust. Many locations in the film sparked recognition and nostalgia. Paris is a charming city and took the honors of being the star of the show.

I always like Owen Wilson's work and felt he adeptly conveyed Woody Allen's script and directorial vision. It was nice to see him re-teamed with Rachel McAdams. They were great in Wedding Crashers and kudos to Rachel for bravely playing against her perfect girl stereotype.

That said, I felt the film didn't live up to its full potential. The supporting characters were slightly cartoonish and stock, the plot, although interesting and thought provoking, fell a tad flat and was predictable at times.

Aside from a great two hour virtual tour of some of the best the City of Light has to offer, I felt it lacked the charm of Amelie or the memorability of some Allen's other films such as Annie Hall or Play It Again Sam.

Midnight In Paris is a light and breezy pop song alongside the repertoire of what Allen's capable of at his best.

I enjoyed how the film asked the question, are we ever truly happy? The film's implied answer is to make the best of what you have, for happiness comes from within.

That alone, to me, was worth the price of the movie. ($7.50)

Colin Quinn: Long Story Short (2011 TV Special)
10/10
Colin Quinn is FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS!!!!
10 April 2011
I had just checked into a Motel 6 in Centralia Washington, exhausted from driving non-stop for about 12 hours from San Jose California, on my way to Seattle. I was weary, full of contempt and slightly sub-postal road-rage, and wanted nothing more than to drop my head on a pillow and pass out. I turned on the TV to find some background noise to drown out the freeway traffic and lull me to sleep. While thumbing through the channels on the hotel remote, a stand-up comedian talking about the Ancient Greeks seemed perfect. Only problem was, I started laughing...and kept laughing. Not just mildly amused laughs, but wiping the tears from my eyes 'cuz I'm laughing so hard laughs. Who would of thought history could be so funny?!!?

The hotel didn't have an HBO guide (cheap bastards) so I had to wait 'til they rolled the credits to find out who this funny SOB was. I will definitely buy the DVD/Bluray when it comes out and am very interested in seeing whatever else Colin Quinn has/is going to put out. I even signed up on his website! Colin Quinn, you have a new fan! When are you going on tour? Hope you bring your show to Seattle or LA. Me and my friends will definitely come to see it. You are the funniest comedian I've seen in a very long time. Jerry Seinfeld (he directed this show) is right, smart and dumb people can appreciate this show. Since Seinfeld (the show) ended, there seems to be a shortage of intelligent humor. Colin is like a crazy substitute History teacher that will have you laughing your ass off while you learn about us as a society and why the world is the way it is today. HBO, we want more stuff like this. Colin, keep doing what you're doing...you've struck gold.

Good animation, awful script. Far cry from Disney's or Pixar's best.

Not much can be said for this film but IMDb's Comment Requirements demand a minimum of 10 lines. OK, here goes. What a waste of incredible voice/acting talent. One of the main characters was voiced by Wallace Shawn (Vizzini "inconceivable!" "I'm waiting!" of The Princess Bride). It's as if the director threatened to smack him on his bald head if he even tried to voice his character in any way that was slightly entertaining or interesting. (Or maybe they just edited any funny lines out in post-production) Actually, the screenwriters should have watched The Princess Bride and gotten some ideas from that movie. The songs were atrocious and forgettable. My favorite part was when the credits stared rolling. The fact that there were only three other people in the theatre besides myself and my son should have been a clue. He had seen all the other "kid" movies so we were stuck with the bottom of the barrel.

Maybe they should have taken some of the budget that paid for the "star" vocal talent and rewritten the script. Just my opinion.
