Northern Exposure: The Quest (1995)
Season 6, Episode 15

Horrible episode in a horrible season
6 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I have loved Northern Exposure from when it was on the air in the '90's. I had not seen any of the episodes since the show went off the air and due to the fact that the original music was not used, I never bought the DVDs. In my memory, I knew that I felt the last season dipped in quality because of Joel leaving, but I really could not remember how bad it became. Almost every character's personality completely changed and they did things that they would never do. Ruth Ann became mean and unreasonable, Ed became a punchline, Marilyn went from being a wise thoughtful character to a rude silly woman. None of the personalities from the previous seasons held true any longer. Joel's overnight change meant the entire theme of the show was thrown out. This episode was the worst of the bunch...

Unbelievably bad!
12 January 2024
I have never seen a film with as many great actors that is this bad. There is little to no connection between the "angels" and the people they are supposed to be helping and there is little to no reason for the way they are going about getting them to fall in love. The film is basically a random grouping of skits that are not well thought out. Poor writing and terrible direction doomed this streaming pile of crap from the start. I have never seen a film that left so much unexplained and not connected. Down to the closing scene there is nothing to make me recommend this film to anyone. No likable characters at all.

Poorly written stereotypes
5 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the worst films I've seen in a while. The writers used every stereotype in the genre. Despite the main character making everything stupid move possible, with no real evidence, he tracks down his missing wife. He stumbles through an organized crime (low level) killing everyone without getting shot him self and at the last miraculously stumbles across his wife tied up in a storage building. No real build up or resolution. Plenty of red herrings with no follow up, No real character development. The viewer has no reason to feel anything about any of the people involved, good or bad.

Decent story, should have been a 2 hour movie
25 August 2021
While the story was interesting and the acting was good the mini-series is as most today. With so much time to fill on the various platforms, everything is stretched out way too long. The story could have been told in a more concise way and made into a nice two hour movie. My biggest complaint, besides the lack of editing, is the need of every filmmaker to show stories out of order. Flashbacks are great when used judiciously. It is perfectly okay to tell a story in a linear fashion...

Waste of time
15 April 2020
When I decided to watch the movie I immediately noticed that almost all the reviews were bad. I guessed that the multitude of negative reviews were politically motivated as the plot was supposedly about Regan Era foreign policies. I have to admit that I guessed wrong. This was one of the worst films I have ever seen. The plot was so thin that it was almost nonexistent. Pretty scenery pretty people that is about all the film had going for it.

Very disjointed and disappointing documentary
9 September 2013
I suspect that the rating this documentary has received so far is based on the love for the subject, Mr Stan Lee. The fan-base for Mr Lee and his many character creations have made him an iconic name in our culture today. As a longtime fan myself, I have heard or read many of the stories and incidents recounted in this film before. My problem is with the quality of the film itself. Much of the history of the the comics industry and the life of Mr Lee were told out of order, clips of Mr Lee being interviewed about a topic, would be shown at the same time that the narrator was describing something that happened years before. If not known previously, a viewer would think that the Seduction of the Innocents book came out in the 70's instead of the 50's. Mr Lee deserves a better recounting of his contributions to the comic book and movie industries.

Melancholia (2011)

Boring and pretentious
13 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I was so bored watching this movie that I was wishing that Melancholia would hurry up and get here. If there is a way to slow down time, it is to watch this movie. The movement of time slows to a crawl. This to me is one of those movies that directors and the movie industry loves to make for themselves. Beautifully shot and actually well acted, but so non-commercial that it is basically a vanity project. Kirstin Dunst was beautiful and her portrayal of Justine was the reason that I gave the film 2 stars. In my opinion, the good acting by the cast and the fact that the film is no better than it is, shows that a film is only as good as the vision of the director and the editing allow it to be. I am sure that many in the industry will heap praise on this film, but to me it was a "beautiful to watch" waste of time.
