Immigrant Made (2019)
Low number of reviews, good comedian.
As low a number of reviews on IMDb this guy has I gave it a chance on prime video and it was pretty good. The title Implies political comedy but this comedy mostly just talks about cultural differences and personal insight which I found pretty enjoyable. Whilst not mainstream, Gastor gives an enjoyable set not worth passing over if you think you've seen all good comedy specials. I wouldn't consider this anything exceptional but I would consider worth a watch if your looking for a good hour of stand up to kill.
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015)
All the feels!
This film is so good in my opinion for it's ability to make you feel multiple emotions in such a short period of time. It goes from laughing to tearing up to a genuine interest in what's happening very fast and this is done with great writing and cinematography.
The film follows a similar structure to some of my other favourite films however at the centre of it is a simple story arc paired with a smart/intellectual script. The thing that caught me off guard with this was the misdirection of it making you think the cheesy/predictable thing would happen but then surprises you.
The only negative I can think of is that it can feel slow and depressing at times but with a film about cancer what do you expect. This film is definitely worth the watch If you like the indie film, coming of age, crying alone at 2am kind of vibe you might be getting from the trailer.
In Your Eyes (2014)
All Time Favourite! Wow!
What I hate about happy ending in every movie I watch is the fact that the story still isn't really over. What makes this movie so great is that the ending was built up to so well, it was at the point in the storyline I wanted it to end at.
What I love about this movie is how by the end of the movie I was left feeling like the only way they could live and be happy, was together and the fact that a connection they've had since birth brings them together. I don't consider myself much of a romantic but there's something about being fated to be with someone and the idea that sharing your life with the right person, THE person, will give me my own happy ending and that just makes me gush.
The casting was amazing especially Zoe Kazan who certainly wasn't hard to look at. If you're on the border on whether or not to watch this all you need to know is its a romantic film and its amazing!
