Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire (2003)
From a loyal fan of the original Scooby Doo
After annoyingly sitting through the previous recent feature films that modernized this classic cartoon, I am happy to see that the Scooby Doo creators are getting back to their roots. Why mess with something good? I'm so happy that the gang is back in original gear, riding in the classic Mystery Machine, and grooving to tribute tunes. If they have to update the animation, at least they are leaving the content the same. If I wanted change or "creativity" with style, I'd watch a NEW cartoon.
Election (1999)
This movie doesn't get my vote.
I was so disappointed with this entire movie. From the advertisement previews and the cover, it looked like a cute high school movie about a student council. I should have paid attention to the MTV logo on the cover. I like a good dark comedy if it is done well, like Terrentino movies or the Royal Tannenbaums, but this movie was a pathetic attempt to entertain viewers, using little more than shock value. And it wasn't anything really too surprising. If you would like to watch a movie where the plot is focused on sexual affairs and the characters make typical hollywood mistakes, then this is the movie for you.
Private Benjamin (1980)
From a child of the eighties
I really liked this movie. Growing up on HBO, I saw the flick several times. It is a cute show, but don't expect it to be anything more advanced than for its time. I was thinking of this movie the other day, and I thought it would be neat for Goldie Hawn's daughter Kate Hudson to do a remake or a sequel.
