Houston: The Legend of Texas (1986)
A very good western and a good film.
Just saw it again last night on t.v. This is a fantastic film. Very well done by all involved. Then again, how can one not like a Sam Elliott western? he is one of the best western stars we have and we need to get him back in the saddle again to churn out some more.
The Culpepper Cattle Co. (1972)
A western classic!!!!
This is easily one of the best westerns made. So overlooked and no real good reason why. It was so well done and the cast is some of the best western actors you can get!!!! Everybody connected with the making of this film did an outstanding job and Billy Green Bush was the stand out performance as the trail boss. The realism was unmistakeable! A very well done film and highly reccomended to all. This film MUST be released onto DVD soon!
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
Disney creates a work of art!
I saw this excellent production today and was thrilled! Everything about it was great! All involved with the film did an outstanding job and should be proud of themselves! It was great to see the Lady Washington in full sail! Disney has always been great at creating great fantasy films and I look forward to the release of her next fantasy, The Alamo.
Sergeants 3 (1962)
A great comedy and should be out on DVD/Video
This is a hilarious comedy by the Rat Pack. I saw it 40 years ago and loved it then. Was shown on t.v. back then a couple of time before being pull and shelved in Frank's vault. Everybody did a fine job. There is absolutely no excuse for it not being released out onto DVD/video. I was told that it is because of copyright infringements from the folks behind Gunga Din. If that is true then it is all alot of baloney!!!!! It's been 40 years people! It is a well done comedy. Get over it! Let this fantastic comedy be released and folks will want to come see your version to compare and everybody will be happy. I want to see this film again and I want ti release ASAP!!!!!! So do many others! I even wrote to Mrs. Sinatra and mentioned it in the letter. So, just do it and the heck with the Gunga Din whiners.
Rough Riders (1997)
This is one fantastic motion picture!!!
This is truly a great film. Well done by all. Writing, production, acting. Incredible!!!!! I want to see a director's cut on DVD of this film!!!!! Busey was fantastic as Joe Wheeler and Sam Elliott, as always, does a fantastic job. His Bucky O'Neill was very well done. We can never have enough Sam Elliott westerns!!! We need more Sam! I give this film the highest of ratings! It is a must see by all! Thanks to the vision of the great John Milius, we have another film that salutes and pays honor to our veterans! Get this film out on DVD right away!!!!! Uncut, trailers, and the Making of...documentary. All the fans are begging for a DVD of this monumental motion picture!
Alamo: The Price of Freedom (1988)
The most accurate Alamo film to date!
This is a very well done film and I gave it the highest rating. It is a wonder to see and is best at the UNCUT version and not the heavily edited version at the Rivercenter Imax in San Antone. This film should be made available to all and to schools on DVD and not hogged by the Imax in San Antonio. Most of us can't afford to visit San Antonio to see it. So I hope they do release it on DVD and video and if they do it has to be the uncut version. It is much better than the version you see now.
The Alamo: Thirteen Days to Glory (1987)
The worst of all Alamo films!
While being a great James Arness western, this film has gone down as the worst Alamo film ever made. The story was terrible, inaccuracy all through it, and just downright untruths to boot! Continuity was cast to the four winds. Anybody catch the cannon sequence? The Mexicans were dumb enough to fire cannons that obviously had mud and ramrods still sticking out of the tubes. Come on! Then there is Brian Keith's ridiculous hat! Costumer must of been away or something. Or just out of their mind!
The Alamo (1960)
A very good John Wayne western!
I love this film and always will. I was my first movie. It not only introduced me to The Alamo story, but also to John Wayne. I was hooked on both ever since. No, this film is not historically accurate. far from it. But it is a great film none the less. if you want to see accurate, you have to go to San Antonio and see "Alamo: The Price of Freedom" at their Imax. This film should be released uncut on DVD so we all can enjoy it. Especially those who cannot afford to visit San Antone. But that Imax theatre is hogging the film and won't release it. That is a shame.
The Last Command (1955)
Rated as the best of the Alamo films.
Amoung alot of historians and reenactors, this is the best Alamo film ever made. It was very well done, acted, and directed. An all around great job by all! Alamo: Price of Freedom is the most accurate film ever made, but this film is considered the best by far!
