Red Snow (2021)
Awful
I've seen better movies for a school project, this must have had a $1K budget, if that and it shows. Now that isn't always a bad thing, plenty of movies have been good despite being cheaply made. This is not one of those movies. It's very stiff, unfunny, uninteresting and wosrt of all, it goes exactly the way you'd expect, leaving zero pay off and zero reward for suffering through it. I kept watching hoping something redeeming would happen, but the ending is obvious from miles away, and the overall effort is weak. One minor note that it's not a Christmas movie, it simply takes place during Christmas, which also added nothing to the film.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022)
It's fine.
I'd been looking forward to this since it's announcement, so maybe my expectations were too high. It's not that it isn't good, it's fine, it just didn't hit the right notes for me. Speaking of notes... the music was not my jam, and that's probably where it lost me. The jokes were okay, nothing hilarious, but there wasn't as many as I'd expected. I thought they would lay the sap on a little thicker, and make it more of a cheesy Xmas special, but I didn't get that sappy feeling. Overall it's good for a watch, and I'll probably have to watch it again with a few egg nogs. I'm definitely excited for GotG3.
Hellraiser (2022)
A decent attempt.
Nothing will beat the original, but this film does its best to capture that feeling. It's not great, but it's better then all the terrible VOD sequels. This could bring some life back into the franchise, and hopefully some more good entries with large budgets and directors that care about the source material. The plot is rather weak, but it gets things in motion, so its fine. The practical effects here a great, and harken back to the original. The overall atmosphere isn't as tense or dreary as the first one, so this feels more akin to a slasher film, but the mood and tone still work. A decent effort, worth a one time watch.
The Guardians of Justice (2022)
Pass.
Couldn't make it through one episode. It wants to be The Watchmen and The Boys at the same time, but it isn't. It's just B, but not in a campy fun way.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
Pure irony
Watching Chris trying to act serious is hilarious. The traps are neat, the rest is meh. The acting is terrible from everyone here, except maybe SLJ. Worth a one time watch only if you're expecting a " so bad it's good " kinda movie.
Tenet (2020)
A quick summary
So if you're expecting a complex and engaging puzzle, don't. This is a more or less generic action movie right down to the evil Russian guy who will destroy the world. The time travel ( inversion ) is a neat gimmick, but it doesn't create any intriguing mystery, it merely sets up some nifty cinematography. It felt slow at times and i checked my watch more then once. It probably deserves a second watch, but I won't be to surprised if it remains opaque and somewhat contrived.
