Hunt Club (2022)
It's Rather Average.
Mena Suvari puts in a solid performance in this and her superior acting ability is quite apparent throughout the film.
A fairly "basic" premise, but it didn't need to be anything special.
The film is surprisingly well shot but Dialogue is amateur-ish at times.
(There's also someone labelled as "Scotland" whose accent can only be described as Irish-via-Vladivostok. Truly dreadful.)
Despite what I can only assume was a relatively low budget, the film looks good and is enjoyable enough.
Just don't expect much originality or to have your mind blown.
Goof: Keep an eye open for the very obviously breathing "body" around the 1hr mark. The cameraman must've spotted it and swings upwards rather sharply! :D.
Stars on Mars (2023)
7 Episodes In... But it's a fun concept.
Think "Big Brother" but, it's on Mars and comes with everything that entails.
My biggest issue with the show, is the overwhelming number of fundamentally unlikable "Stars"... most of which I'd never heard of before. (Though, I am British..!)
I've always liked the little I've seen of Ariel in the past, but this show has completely changed my opinion.
I cannot stand her! (Or Adam / Porsha for that matter.)
Lance, Ronda and Marshawn seem like they'd been great to be around... though, Marshawn does have an issue with listening when on-mission! Haha!
Tinashe and Andy seem like solid choices to be on the show. (I'd never heard of Tinashe before this.)
If this gets a second season, or a British version, I'd probably watch it again.. But I guess that would also depend on the spread of contestants.
The Outpost (2018)
Good - but not great - Fun Fantasy.
A show that knows what it is.
Fun, family friendly fantasy with a solid (if mostly unknown to me) cast.
Janso has incredibly annoying body language and facial expressions but I'm not sure if that's down to the actor, or whether it was a decision made by the director/producers. It does seem as though they are trying to gradually 'correct' this though, thankfully.
The SFX can be lacking at time, but nothing offensively poor.
Overall, if you like mediaeval-ish fantasy settings with a touch of 'magic', a little political intrigue and some decent action scenes... You should find this enjoyable enough.
Are there better, higher budget options out there? Sure. But don't Choose to ignore The Outpost, outright. You'll find it pleasant enough.
