Jigeum uri hakgyoneun (2022)
If ever there was such a thing as too much zombies in a zombie show, this is it.
I liked every thing about it besides watching zombies chasing people down a school hall for the 12,000th time! It still kept me interested and invested in the story but sometimes it did feel like a slog. Could probably have cut two episodes worth of zombies running around.
Louis Theroux: Law and Disorder in Philadelphia (2008)
One of my favourite docs of all time
This is more like a movie than a documentary. The characters, from the cops, to the gangsters, to the junkies, to the gang boss all seem like they were cast for their parts and given lines such is the quality of what is caught on film. Lots of charismatic characters whether they're the good guys or the bad guys or the somewhere in the middle guys. It has some beautiful scenes with the combination of a melancholy score and the run down streets of South Philly. An overlooked masterpiece.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
Surprisingly good
Having read some reviews here I had my reservations about this. People saying it's not a horror etc. I disagree, it absolutely is a horror but it just has some drama in its storyline too. And there's a particular scene in it (you know the one of you've seen it) which if it doesn't horrify you deeply then I wouldn't want to meet you in a dark alley at night. I've never seen anything like it on a film before. It's not full of constant jumpscares, maybe that's what people call horror now?
Some criticisms is that it may be a bit too heavy handed in forcing in too many shining references, like we get it, it's a sequel to the shining. Some parts I found a bit cheesy but still overall way better than I expected. I watched the theatrical version not knowing about the directors cut until after.
Don't let bad reviews out you off giving it a go.
Murderville (2022)
Great so far.
You will have to be a fan of spoof parody and Will Arnett to enjoy this show, if you are not then don't bother with it. The first episode with Conan was as great as you would expect. He's the perfect guest for the concept of this show. Again it's heavily reliant on being a parody of cop shows and it definitely hams it up to 11, I think people who gave low reviews probably just aren't into this type of comedy. But the fact that the guests just have to play along makes for some hilarious moments. I still have 3 episodes to watch but it's an easy, enjoyable and funny watch it that's what you're looking for. Might be being a bit generous with an 8 but when people give it 1's it just skews the score.
