Truly Enjoyable
This drama is slow. Slow in a good way- like a good book on a cold winter evening.
Stellar performance by all the actors. Probably Park Min-Young's best role to date. The characters are relatable. There's a variety of stories and all the locals in the village create a sense of community.
This isn't your regular city girl goes to a small town type of drama (full disclosure Hometown Cha Cha Cha is one of my favourite dramas to-date). While the premise is similar, the characters feel a lot more grounded. Maybe because of the pace the story is told, like another reviewer said, it stays with you.
Great writing, great directing.
Make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy this one episode at a time. Or binge it, either way.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
The best we are going to get!
If you're a fan of the books then great news- this is the best we're going to get! Kick back and enjoy! And it's much better than .. well, shall I mention that pilot few years back?
Yes, we know adapting the books would've meant some things would change. Still not sure what to think of Perrin's wife storyline. But I guess if you'll have three grown up men in a small village, ones ought to be married. It might be skipping parts and a bit too fast paced but that might not be that bad in the long run.
If you've not read the books and all seems a bit confusing- read them! You won't be sorry. Also, enjoy it for what it is.
I really don't like comparing this to another incredibly popular fantasy series.. wink wink. And why should we? It is its own thing and will build up its own fan base and let's be honest, might attract a slightly different following.
The acting is pretty good, the production is fantastic, the world is creatively different.
One small note, there could've been a bit more focus on world building in the beginning for the sake of those who are totally new to the Wheel of Time.
Let's watch and see what comes next!
Space Force (2020)
Not the Office! .. Because it's different
As a die-hard fan of The Office I can tell you- it's not it. And that's fine, as it is not pretending to be it, nor trying.
This is different. It is multi-level political satire and it's funny. General Mark Naird is not Michael Scott and that's good news. We get to see a different nuance of the genius of Steve Carell and he shines through.
Malkovich is great and his character brings a rather fine balance to the the whole show.
The dynamic of the show is really cool- sort of like a political dialogue of the different 'types' of people in America. It works, as it also shows that while everyone is rather different and has different priorities, political and life opinions, they can all work together on the same team, even if the mission is rather bizarre.
Similar to The Office though, its first season might not be its best. Surely enough Greg Daniels and Carell will take notes and develop the good things in the next season while dialling back on the not so great stuff.
And what is the 'not so great stuff'? Well, it kind of feels that the Naird- Mallory dynamic is the only strong relationship going for the show for this season. All the other character interactions seem too 'sterile'. And there is so much potential into different story lines that can be explored.
Good work guys! Thanks for bringing us something different!
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
'Earl Grey. Decaf'
I avoided reading any reviews prior to watching the first episode. I think it was good decision as it would have inevitably either set my expectations high or disappointed me in some way.
I have only been a Star Trek fan for the last two years now, and have slowly got through most of the series. Just finishing up Enterprise now.
I got into Star Trek through watching Discovery and then I started with The Next Generation. What really struck me about TNG was the message it conveyed to viewers. It was such I stark contrast with other more modern shows I was watching at the time. TNG highlighted human values, it elevated virtues, values and ethics. Doing the right thing, responsibility and discipline, courage and curiosity were just some of virtues that explored. It was a breath of fresh air.
That is exactly what I thought after watching the first episode of Picard. 'A breath of fresh air'. Familiar, yet different. Exploring tragedy, yet radiating hope. Displaying a character with strong personal convictions and integrity- not many characters like that in TV shows nowadays.
Looking forward to watching the rest.

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Watch this now.
Is it perfect? - No
Is the acting always amazing?- No
Are the CGI great? - Well, no (understandably) ... an so on... blah blah blah.
But, oh boy, is this a breath of fresh Air or what?!
Let me explain. I watched this alongside a modern show (nothing to do with Star Trek) but wow. The modern show was all about thrills- violence, sex scenes, intense and dark narrative. While this Gem shone out from the 90s with a message of hope, morals, an idea that humanity can do better.
I'll leave it to you to decide, but we could do with a few Picards, Rykers, Crushers and Datas out there.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
Brilliant and Fresh
This is absolutely brilliant! It is fresh and funny, and different.
All the characters are unique and entertaining in their own sort of way. The writing is clever and i did not find any of the episodes lagging or lacking.
Rachel Brosnahan (Midge) performs with an extraordinary energy and character and delivers the comedy across in a genuine, funny and unique way.
If you you are looking for something different, this is it.
The Mick (2017)
Disappointing
I am not really sure what the target audience of this should be. It is disappointingly all over the place.Wildly inappropriate for young viewers and falls short on the humour for older viewers. Lacking original ideas or any substance whatsoever.
Struggling to find any good points.
Life in Pieces (2015)
Refreshingly funny!
I find this show refreshingly funny! It is light to watch, the characters are very likable and some of them readable (even though maybe slightly exaggerated).
All the actors (young and old) seem to be acting amazingly well and really enjoying it. There is just something about this show, and i cannot put my finger on what exactly it is, that makes it so enjoyable to watch.
Such a gem! Do not miss it ! I look forward to getting the new episode every Friday on my Prime video!
SS-GB (2017)
Good!
I enjoyed this much more than The Man in The High Castle.
Maybe it's the way the characters are developed, or it could be the location, but it is smart and stylish and purely enjoyable to watch.
There is definitely a huge potential into creating a thrilling and complex series set in a fantastically well imagined alternative history setting.
Hope it gets momentum!
I did not experience any sound problems but did not watch it live.
The Grand Tour (2016)
Classic
The brand was not so much the name of the previous show... The brand is this lot here making the best motoring show ever. Well done for Amazon who quickly managed to get them on board.
Without any spoilers: It is exciting, it feels familiar - yet new. Thrilling might be right word, but again - even if you sit these three around a table and let them talk about cats for an hour - they'll surely deliver.
I think what most viewers would be hoping for is a fair dose of craziness, but also exploring new heights.
I am not being objective, but yet again, who is? If you loved TG then you'll love GT....
Looking forward to seeing the trio do excitingly new challenges!
