Monsuno (2011)
Not the best anime I've seen
Feeling bored one day I decided to go channel surfing to see what was on and I stumbled across this show. Seeing it was anime (and I like anime) I decided to watch. But as I got into a few more episodes, I had enough. The storyline didn't seen to go anywhere and I found it hard to understand at times what was going on and I didn't see much character development.
Now onto the creatures (or monsuno I should say.) they're okay I guess, mind you some of them should have better names. One of the monsuno is called Charger because it charges. To me that name seem too original. another monsuno I had trouble figuring out what its name was. (it was a bear by the way.) What is Chase calling it? Muck or Luck? Then I soon find out that it is called Lock. LOCK!!! What kind of name is that?! You might as well call your dog "Door" or your cat "Pillow." but you wouldn't because they are not very good names. Surely they could of come up with better name for these monsuno. Mind you, the name Arachniblade sounds pretty cool.
Another thing I found annoying is that Chase's father is nearly captured in every episode or held prisoner. For goodness sake just leave the darn man alone.
Sorry, but I think I'll stick with Blood+.
Hadashi no Gen (1983)
A powerful film that may haunt you.
I was warned that this movie was graphic and heart wrenching, but being curious I decided to watch it as I have seen graphic dark animation before such as Grave of the Fireflies, Watership Down, Plague Dogs, When the Wind Blows, Felidae etc so I thought I would be able to handle it... Boy was I wrong.
I learned that the effects of the bomb were horrible but not this horrific. Just seeing people including young children melt away to nothing, dogs yelping in pain as it's coat caught on fire, horribly unrecognizable, graphically burnt people walking down the street like zombies (Were they still alive?) a mother laughing hysterically after losing her family... This had struck me down to the core watching this and lasted hours after watching the film. I also kept thinking... How can humankind be so cruel? This movie was hard to watch but movies like this should not be hidden. Movies like this should be view to the world for hopes on peace. Never again should this happen.
Zeruda no densetsu: Toki no okarina 3D (2011)
Ah. The memories...
I remember playing this game for the first time on the 64 when I was a teenager and instantly fell in love with Legend of Zelda: ocarina of time. It was a rented game so I had to rented it out again. After I finally received a copy of my own I ended up playing it countless of times over the years. I've never got bored of it. Even when it was release of virtual console, I download it onto my Wii immediately. When I heard it was going to be remake for the 3DS my heart soared as I knew what it meant. Better graphic (no visible blocky polygon) better ways of playing and in 3D.
I was not let down.
Every building or dungeon I enter I couldn't help but utter "wow!" like I have just seen it for the first. The 3D effect made you like you were in the room as it added real depth and distance of each wall. And the movement of each character you see are very smooth and swift.
I could on and on about this brilliant game by there's a limit number of words you can use in a review. So I shall sum it up by saying: Don't just take my word for it. Play it and you WON'T be disappointed:).
Felidae (1994)
Curiosity didn't kill this cat
I ended up stumbling along this title on IMDb one day and read all the info about. It sounded like a good movie and I wanted to watch it. The only problem was, I was a bit hesitate about it as I was warned that this movie contain gory and upsetting scenes in it and I usually don't do well with gory movie (they make me sick in the stomach) but as time passed, curiosity got the better of me.
Superb storyline and this movie had me guessing till the end of whodunit and I was not let down. And the gory bits... They didn't make me sick at all. I think that rather strange.
I would not recommend this to kids at all. If fact, since it wasn't released in Australia I decided while watching the movie that I would give the movie a classification: MA+15.
Hogfather (2006)
Huh?
Before I begin, I have to say that I have not read a single terry Pratchett book, but I love fantasy movies and the trailers made it look really good. So I watched this movie and....
...........
........What is it about?
No, seriously. What is this movie about? I'm lost and confused. What is it about?
The scenes just jumped too quickly from one story to the next. I didn't understand it all.
I must say though, the actors and special effects were brilliant. It's a shame the storyline wasn't there:(.
