Nowhere Man - St. Joseph (2021)
Scary, Truthful
Excellent reporting on what it's like to deal with a stalker. Watching an entire town come together and heal through this expertly and deftly told through the lens of the director. Highly recommended.the director peels back layers and deals with his own trauma as well. The stalker terrorizing them all is a loser with delusions of grandeur. I commend all involved. Dealing with an unhinged individual can be scary and Ross shows this in spades.
In summation this documentary shows how art can both heal and inform. I recommend one watch this family who have experienced similar situations. Ross deserves the accolades collected. See this film.
Detours (2016)
Poignant, moving, story
A daughter must relocated with her grieving father. Terrific performances from the leads and special praise to the director for such delicate handling of sensitive material.
Ruination (2017)
Raw, Gritty and Real
Inspired by tragedy, the director/writer was moved to make this film. This movie is not only well acted, but well written and well directed. An anti-suicide film that doesn't cheat and doesn't take happy ending. It shows the reality of depression and how this deadly illness can rob you of any perspective on your own life and the impact your actions will have on others. This film supports the mental health community in that at the end of the film the National Suicide Hotline is provided. This is not light viewing but the reality of mental illness is not an easy one. The importance of this film is that it can save lives. This film's message is if you need help it's okay to reach out and ask for it.
