The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)
Great movie!
We just saw this movie, despite what we've read and heard. We loved it! I don't get upset about discrepancies about ages, like the age of the son in the movie, when you see a movie, you have to use your suspension of disbelief. I love that people know there are undead fighting, but have a hard time "believing" some aspects of the movie. Cracks me up. So the ages are off, so what! The movie is great. Maria Bello is great as Evvie, don't let comments by others fool you. So what if it's not the girl in the other two. Life goes on. She's great!
The fight scenes are great, the movie's a lot of fun, and Jet Li is great, too.
See this movie, give it a chance with an open mind, utilize your suspension of disbelief as you should in this type of movie and ENJOY!
It's GREAT!
Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)
Great fun.
Great movie! Ron Perlman is always great as Hellboy. He's funny. I like how down-to-earth and real he always seems! I love the Abe Sapien character. Very enjoyable. The special effects used for his costume are so realistic! He's such an emotional character. He reminds me of...somebody I know... I can't get over how real he looks. I'm not a big fan of Selma Blair being the girl in this movie, but that's just me. I feel like she's not warm enough. It's a very fun movie to watch. A lot of endearing moments. Great story, a lot of fun, great characters make for a great watch. The scary guys are very interesting. I think you'll like it, I liked it better than the first one!
Hello Down There (1969)
I LOVE this movie! It's SO fun!
OK, I like the movies from this time period. I love the funny/goofy/ hippie stuff. This one takes the cake! It's so fun to watch, it's one of my absolute favorite movies ever. This movie is worth watching just for the music. The songs are so catchy! I have sung them in my head all my life since I was a little girl from seeing this movie just once! I'm so glad it's available on DVD now. I watch it over and over. It's another one of those comforting movies. The story is cute, has a little "drama" (lol!) I like that 70's way of dancing that Janet Leigh does! The kids are in a band "Harold and the Hangups" and I love the parts where they "jam". It's so very fun. Oh-the part where Tony Randall sings a song is also very catchy and fun! Very fun to see a young Richard Dreyfuss! A must see for all. Classic.
Follow That Dream (1962)
Comforting
I think that this movie was good, but not great. I like many, many movies that fall into that category. Elvis movies are like that. They're not the best movies in the universe as far as plot and all goes, but they're somehow...comforting. Maybe because we enjoyed them as kids, I don't know. I like this one, I like the innocence of the characters. The little kids in it are funny. Elvis sings some more corny but lovable songs. There are no characters that are over the top, but somehow they seem to resemble people we all know in our own life! I love the bad guys...they're not so scary! Kinda goofy and mild. All around, it's fun to watch. I like to put them on in the kitchen while I'm cooking and sing along!
The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Awesome movie!
OK, I admit it. I had no desire to see this movie at all. To me, it was way too soon after the last one with Eric Bana, and I liked that one. I bought it for my own collection, and I only buy the movies I really like. Saturday night rolled around, and my husband wanted to see it. I objected a little, giving my opinions and reasons, but going to see it anyway to make him happy.
I was in for a pleasant surprise! I LOVED the movie. I really enjoyed it extremely, and fully intend to buy this one as well.
The performances by both Tim Roth and Edward Norton were incredible, not surprisingly. Those two are always great in movies. I really like Liv Tyler, too. I'm enjoying seeing more of her lately.
Go see this movie. It's great, you'll love it!
Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971)
Scared ME to Death!!!
I agree with the previous post by gwsteph...I saw this movie 30+ years ago and it scared me to death, and still scares me today. I think this is the creepiest movie ever made, hands down. The setting, the cast, the loneliness and the story make for the creepiest night ever. I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to get ahold of a copy of this movie, because it is STILL fun now to me as a grown up to pop it in the vcr while curled up on the couch with a blanket and popcorn to scare the bejeebers out of myself. I like the way it accomplishes scaring you without all the gore and ridiculousness that seems to be needed in today's horror movies. The characters are real, and endearing, and somehow remind us of people we know. The lighting and visuals add to the spooky feel. (I still want to get rubbings from tombstones at an OLD local cemetery...in fact, I tried once, but they had guard dogs that didn't take nicely to me...) Why do we do these things??? LOL!
Author! Author! (1982)
Author! Author! is very heartwarming!
I love this movie because it's a true "feel-good" movie. The kids in the movie certainly steal the show, making us laugh over and over again. We can all relate to some or all of the kids as we're taken back in time to the early 80's. Their innocent insights to grown up situations, as well as their comedic delivery make for a very funny movie. Al Pacino (the author!) leads us through this movie as the caring father of this group of kids, sometimes funny, sometimes serious, but always loving, and you simply can't go wrong with Al Pacino! Alan King's dry humor adds a really nice touch to the movie. Take the time to watch this movie with your family, it'll warm all your hearts! My husband and I need to replace our worn out copy, which we never tire of watching over and over.
