The Phantom of the Opera (2004)
A Jewel
It is so rare to find a film that is captivating and enchanting from start to finish. I'll tell you, as soon as the Overture began to play and the old photos showed in the first minutes of the film, I was hooked. In my opinion, it could not have been better cast. Everyone cast (except Minnie Driver, though she did an excellent job of lip-syncing) could sing and dance excellently. The costumes were stunning, the set and scenery breathtaking. The orchestra that performed the music did a stellar job, especially during 'Masquerade.' Everything fit the mood perfectly. The Phantom was portrayed with just the right amount of morbidity and passion. I wouldn't change a thing in this beautiful work of art, and I proudly give it two thumbs up! (Oh, and the very end, where a rose is on Christine's grave along with the 'Masquerade' music box, was a beautiful touch. Few people left the theater without tears in their eyes.)
The Elizabeth Smart Story (2003)
A really touching story
*1 Spoiler at the end*
I think that this was a really touching movie! I can't believe all the comments that people thought it was so fake. I really enjoyed watching it, and I can't understand why everyone thought it was fake. Some of it may have been twisted, because the Smart family may not have wanted every bit of the story on television for all the world to see, which is perfectly understandable. But I think it is reasonable to believe that she was forced to be a religious slave for 9 months out of fear.
Cirque du Soleil: Dralion (2001)
Impressive
It was an impressive show. I didn't tire of watching it. However, I only saw approximately 2/3 of it. I was sick when I saw it live and I fell asleep because while it was frigid and January, they made that tent awfully warm. The acrobatics were amazing. I would see it again in a second.
