Gilmore Girls: Friday Night's Alright for Fighting (2006)
Great episode, but a note to Mrs. Gilmore
A Letter to Mrs. Richard Gilmore:
I have something to say to you about an "only child". You have said that an only child is always spoiled and I amd TIRED of hearing it.
My repsonse to the Only Child is, "Yes, I am 100% responsible for what happens in the house(cooking, cleaning and gardening). I am also responsible to give the eulogy, write the obituary and plan the funeral for my parents."
An only is NOT always spoiled.
In spite of all this, you're a great actress. I really do enjoy this show.
The Love Boat: Till Death Do Us Part-Maybe/Locked Away/Chubs (1978)
How to End Infatuation
I have seen this episode a couple of times. All three plots were great, but the scene where Doc tries to let down Jennifer easy was TRULY wonderful. I can only imagine how difficult this infatuation was for Doc. Whoever wrote these lines --well, a big THANK YOU to them.
I think anyone in this type of situation should watch this episode for advice.
The Waltons (1972)
Thank you to the Cast Crew and families for this series
It takes a great cast of actors along with their knowledgeable crew to make a series like this. While these people are putting in the hours to create our entertainment, their families are sacrificing the time they could spend with them, so I thank them as well.
God Bless everyone involved. I enjoyed watching the series on Thursday nights while re-copying my English composition for class on Friday. It was easy to do this while John-Boy was writing in his journal; I wonder how many other people remember doing the same thing.
While many of the episodes stand out, The Last Ten Days is very emotional.
The early scenes of The Return when John-Boy surprises his mother makes you want to hold your breath along with everyone on screen. To learn about the Great Depression and World War II, watch The Waltons.
The Intern (2015)
A Wonderful Inspirational Film
I truly enjoyed this film and found it just when I needed it. Ben's wife passed away some time ago and his return to the workforce reminded me to get up and face the day after my own husband's passing.
I also enjoyed his etiquette which he shared with the young men who were his co-workers. I felt that if Emily Post had a brother, it would be Ben Whittaker. Since the first time I saw this film I've watched it at least 5 more times. Thank you to the cast, crew and their families for making this film possible.
Alice: Give My Regrets to Broadway (1982)
An interesting episode
This episode is quite "spooky" when you carefully observe one mysterious name on this cast. Alice's friend is coming to visit and she's very excited to reunite with her. Alice introduces her as "Julia Roberts" and no this is NOT the actress known for Pretty Woman, Erin Brockovich and Steel Magnolias. This episode aired in 1982 and the "real" Julia Roberts did not appear for our entertainment enjoyment for another 5 years.
It was nice to hear the character mention that actors meet a lot of famous people - even presidents. And then Flo, says, "Yeah and sometimes they become one". This is a reference to Ronald Reagan's first term in office.
7th Heaven: The Kid Is Out of the Picture (2003)
The History of the Camden Family
For all of the viewers who have watched this series repeatedly and those who are seeing it all for the first time, this episode is a review of the previous 7 seasons of this wonderful series.
Simon, as the description states, is headed for college which is the reason for this episode.
If you have not seen the family from beginning to end and you want to jump into the show at this point, DON'T miss this particular episode; it is excellent.
I have always had a special place in my heart for "Simon Camden". He can make me laugh, cry, think and smile at everything he does. In the past couple of seasons he has really grown up and I've always felt like he was my son from the start. (Attention readers and cast: No I am not stalking him; I'm just a big fan.) I want to thank the cast, crew and their families for making this series possible. The children in front of the camera gave me the best of their growing up years for my entertainment and I will always be grateful.
Air Force One (1997)
On the Edge of My Seat
No matter how many times I see this film, I am always on the edge of my seat. The tension of wondering if the president will be rescued is just a small part of it. It's hard to believe that my emotions are always the same; I guess this is what makes a good film.
Every actor in this film makes me believe they are who they are portraying from the military officers to the "future postmaster general". The scenes between the president and his daughter -- well they are priceless! And the President and First Lady moments just make me want to put these two in the White House. I also like Glenn Close's version of the Vice President Bennet and her faith in President Marshall.
The Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971)
The Waltons: A life-changing series
The Waltons was a TV series that was a great part of my life. Every week in my English classes I had a composition to write that was due on Friday. So, I would always copy my final draft on Thursday night while "John Boy" did his writing. A young cousin even asked if I was going to be a writer like John-Boy. I still remember the commercial with Richard Thomas explaining how the movie, The Homecoming, was so popular that CBS decided to create a series, The Waltons. The series was perfect for all time as it teaches some history lessons from the Great Depression to World War II. But that's just the beginning. There are cultural lessons such as how a young people should act when on a date, wedding traditions, and the fact that a woman's place was in the home except for nursing, teaching, and perhaps some secretarial positions. Today I share this series with my daughter as much as I can. She has since lost her grandparents and has adopted "Grandpa and Grandma Walton" as her grandparents. That is quite a tribute I think.
