Christmas at Pemberley Manor (2018)
Skip this one. Better ones out there
Terrible main character. Annoying and hardly endearing. She was rude throughout the movie. I kind of wish she learned to apologize even a bit in the movie.
Best Christmas Party Ever (2014)
Skip this movie; there are way better hallmark movies
The product placement for Visionworks really exemplified how terrible this movie is. The characters are unlikeable and the premise is quite forced.
The best scene is at the end when the boss is mad and puts her glasses down and the Visionworks logo is completely in your face.
Very unfortunate execution.
Home Sweet Home Alone (2021)
Not a one star but don't bother watching
It really wasn't a good movie. They tried way to hard to update the story in many ways but keep some of the core parts the same. Because of this, they ended up with a movie that had terrible reviews.
As you watch it, it feels so uncomfortable because the character motivations don't make sense and how the characters act also don't make sense.
The cameo was nice, some of the acting was good, some of the jokes were even laugh out loud funny. But yet, it was all just too forced and not executed well.
Slumber Party Massacre (2021)
Don't quit early
Solid movie. For the first 20-30min I was wondering why so many gave it a positive review.
But then it got going and ended up being a pretty good movie. Don't judge until you're at least half way through or you'll be missing out.
Inn for Christmas (2020)
Thank you, next please.
I'm a huge lover of these corny, fun holiday movies, but this is the worst. The characters are one dimensional and the main character is made to be a hero of the town but really is just some corporate woman trying to get control of a family owned inn for a multi million dollar company. An inn that she just plans to be "instagrammable" and then leave town to work at the corporate headquarters.
There is no character arc and all the other characters work to support her vision of the corporatization of small town America.
Just skip this movie. The person who should have won out, didn't.
The ending is as if the grinch kept the tree for himself.
Supermarket Sweep (2020)
The host is great
Ignore the haters. Jones makes the show.
Watch the UK version and you'll see how bad this could have been.
Rated 10 to balance out the haters.
Christmas at the Plaza (2019)
You can skip this one...
Hallmark movies can't be compared to Hollywood blockbusters. They are low budget, very formulaic and mostly sappy. The criticism of hallmark movies is misplaced.
But every now and then there is a movie like this one where the story is so bad, the characters are so annoying, that it's hard to get lost in those magic, hallmark feelings.
The only good part of the movie was the story of Reginald and the magic of older buildings like the Plaza. Other than that, the main characters are both quite frustrating making this movie one to skip.
The Last Airbender (2010)
Great concept, horrible delivery.
I am a HUGE fan of the TV series, but also watched the movie with friends who have not seen the series. Our review of the movie was the same: Terrible! The plot didn't make much sense. There was too much going on, and not enough character development. Additionally, the script was horrendous. Too many pauses. Also, the narration of the story only told us what was going on in the scene and on the whole unnecessary. The acting was sub-par. The graphics weren't very good (especially the 3D rendering)...you could tell there was a green screen during most of it.
All in all, most of my friends who didn't see the cartoon, thought the movie was garbage.
Now to compare it to the cartoon. Right after watching the movie, I started watching the cartoon again to see if maybe my memory of it was jaded. No...the cartoon was epic. The characters had depth, the visuals were great, the dialogue/script was carefully/amazingly written, and the accompanying music was well matched with the series.
The movie was the complete opposite of the cartoon and I would recommend you watch the later. Even if you only watch the first 2 and last 2/3 episodes (of the first season), you will be able to see the massive difference.
