Maamla Legal Hai (2024)
disappointing and farcial
I used to like the old sitcoms...but when I tried to watch Yeh Jo hai zindagi again, I found I could not tolerate it anymore. By the third episode of mamla legal hai I got the same feeling again. I expected some legal basis...but in the opening scene we had a bizzare case of accused being let off on bail on technicalities between robbery and dacoity. Ananya Shroff is unbelievably naive and after a time it grates - the lawyer protest.. with this kind of naivety, she won't be successful anywhere.
By the third episode with the human langur and the parrot I surrendered. This is for children and those wanting intelligent entertainment.
Panthrand (2022)
good editing
Very good cinematography and editing. But likely to appeal to those exposed to Life of Christ.
Others would be baffled at the point and direction of the movie. The movie tries unrealistically to bring facets and parallel metaphors from life of Christ and all cast member tries to follow the script..
The movie feels simplistic and almost like a religious skit to which the director is helplessly bound and directed himself. So one finds it difficult to appreciate it as a movie where there is nuance and realism.
For a Christian viewer the movie may be moving experinence and almost but not quite a re-discovery of Christ's story.
The setting and actors feel real and native to the ground. The acting is good.
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
An awful awful movie.
Its an awful movie. Made more awful by the hype. I could accept it if it was some local regional language production.
I dunno how people can rate this movie so high. Its an actual embarrassment of pilferage of ideas and philosophies from other English movies, executed with utmost crassness.
I have no clue how they got many to gush so much over this truly horrible horrible production. But this a an example is truly a shameful offering from Indian cinema, who do produce several excellent movies.
I think much of the production costs went into marketing and PR to talk up this silly and absolutely horrible movie.
They planning a sequel ... ? Horrors.
