4 Blocks (2017)
Solid show but overhyped
It is surprisingly good for a german production. Acting is good and there are lots of fresh faces, which is not common in german television as most productions use the same actors. The plot is okay but nothing you haven't seen before no real twists or surprises, everything is pretty predictable. Also there are not many episodes and it still drags on.
I think the main reason why this show got so much attention is because of relatively unused scenario of the Berlin underground and the really good atmosphere. It gives you the creeps thinking how much of it could be real.
My only real criticism here is the shaky camera it makes the show unnecessary hard to watch and almost gives you a headache. I will never understand why people think this would be a good idea.
All in all I would recommend it if (and only if) you want to see a good german show, because there aren't many good ones.
The Bear: Pop (2023)
Terrible episode
This was the worst lovestory since Twilight. Never have I seen a more unrealistic romance like that. I don't get why you had to shoehorn this into the show, it was entertaining and heartwarming til this point. That episode was just annoying and detached from reality. If someone thinks this is how dating works, no wonder so many people are lonely. The scene after he gave her the wrong number and she still calls him to ask why he did that was so bizarre. No sane person would do that! If they don't show that Claire is deeply insane or a stalker I would have to question why anyone would write nonsense like this?
The reality would be like: She realizes he gave her the wrong number, then she opens a dating app on her phone and dates the next best guy. Be honest to yourself... Don't ruin a good show for the illusion that anyone on this planet would fight to be your special someone without knowing you for real.
It gets even worse when you see in the next episode that they can show multiple totally normal relationships and you get more confused why they had to make this before.
Resident Evil (2022)
No surprise
But another proof, that Constantine Film is the worst production company in the movie business. I'd love to know what goes on in these executive minds that they mess up a great franchise like RE every single time they touch it. Just make a faithful adaption of the games! It can't be that hard...
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Great show, that deserved more love...
I don't know what's worse... Netflix giving up on it that soon or the audience hating it for so many stupid reasons. Really makes me sad. The cast was perfect and everything else was spot on (besides Vicious, he was terrible but nothing that couldn't be fixed)
Pig (2021)
Worst of 2021
This is by far the most boring story I've watched in 2021. Also one of the worst Cage movies I've ever seen. Only the decent actors and the wonderful cinematography made me rate it higher than 1*
Stay away from this!
Tribes of Europa (2021)
Typical soulless german production
I don't know what it is with us germans and movies/tv but this show is another perfect example.
It looks like there is really high value put into it, because the sets are amazing and there are many well made (yet cringe) costumes only the CGI looks like it came from before the time when TV shows were big as GoT, but that I don't mind.
What grinds my gears is the unbelievable stiff dialogue and the bad acting. Nobody in Germany speaks like this, especially not when you think that society degraded into tribes. It's like they took sentences from a dictionary or if nobody in the cast was a native speaker... I cannot describe it, it just alienates me as a natural born german.
And then there is the plot: It's moving slow, almost nothing happens in the first episode. Other, more competent shows would handle that in like 20 minutes max, but this show takes double the time for it. And I wouldn't care if there was character development, but there are just characters that don't act like they are thinking humans. For example the leader of the bad tribe (big surprise: this show is so retro it has characters that are clearly good and bad, like in a disney movie) asks his servants what to do if they fail him, what a great leader, I'm sure nobody would challenge him in a world where only the strong survive... The leader of the good tribe on the other hand can't make up his mind. One day he says it's too dangerous and on the next day he's like: okay pack your weapons and let's go. Are you kidding me?
I really had big hopes, german TV could be taken seriously. But all I feel now is "FREMDSCHAM" (german word for when you feel embarassed for someone else)!
