Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
Grievance, politics and tactical blunders: Black Revengers - Mini Blunder Game
10/10 for effort, 8/10 for execution
It's a new popular trend of 2022 that all superhero movies must be disappointing. Thus, Wakanda Forever is quite a refreshingly good experience albeit not perfect. First of all, let's address an elephant in a room - Massive Opportunity! In the world of grievance and discontent to have a strong emotional story about loss and healing is an instant money cow.
Many already know the story of making this movie. First Black Panther movie was a major success, script was already done for the second one when Chad died and then Covid happened. What an opportunity! Since this movie already had dozens of millions of people emotionally connected why on earth one would add to already packed story additional story of search for cure, death, grievance, loss, and a need for a new hero without extending it to two movies?
At the end - it is a good, emotional movie with a good message. A bit too packed, a bit too little time to develop and tell the story of all the different characters... But it is what it is... Afterall everyone involved in this project quite literally had to deal with as much drama as there in the actual movie.
Even from financial perspective it would have been much better idea to shoot 2 movies back-to-back consuming only 15-20% more budget, and doubling the revenue! In hindsight - most MCU movies faced delays or had to be pushed due to Covid. If important character arcs had extra 5 mins to develop the story better, the first half of the story would have been an easy box office success in 2021. And the second event more in 2022. It quite literally had Avengers Infinity War & Endgame potential. Good movie, but a bit of a wasted opportunity.
Limitless (2022)
Where National Geographics meet science, athletics and acting
Generally, it is a good show, good content. Definitely highly recommended for middle aged people who find themselves consumed and lost in life. Especially after covid a lot of people are struggling physically and mentally. Thus, congratulations for the team for creating this content and hopefully it will guide some lost or declining souls back on the right path.
Some episodes are better (or at least come across more realistic) than other. Surely it is a bit surprising to see that the A list mega start Chris Hemsworth would have any crimpling struggles in life while being surrounded by strong supportive family and a few dozen of people who's sole goal is to make him successful. Some obvious doubts aside it was genuinely good experience until people saw episode about strength and all of the sudden magic was gone! For someone who is among most genetically and athletically gifted people on planet earth to cry about climbing rope was just shocking. Albeit there was no clear timeline it seems that it took over 5 months, a large team of PT's and doctors helping this God like strength and endurance machine to climb a rope. And then there was his tiny wife without any help or training climbing that rope like it's nothing...
Needless to say, it takes a few days for this to sink in one's brain. Then, all sorts of interesting thoughts come to life: How much of this show is real and how much is it fiction? To what level of detail is it planned and scripted? What was actually happening behind the scenes? Is Chris Hemsworth on steroids? Is this show just for marketing and appearances?
In summary - it is a good show and good content. It appears to be scripted and acted as a fictional movie to some extent. If that is the case - it would be disappointing... It is still 7/10, if it would be genuine - maybe it could even be 10/10! This show has potential for new trends, could really be good, entertaining, and educational content for world's aging population. But only if it is genuine! Not marketing, decorated truth or acting.
Needle in a Timestack (2021)
Surprisingly decent romantic movie
If this movie would have lots of marketing and PR, probably would have been rated low. But if you find it as a random gem among "nothing to watch" with your partner - you will be very pleasantly surprised.
I almost feel like it must be 7 out of 10, just purely for it is a good watch for both men, women and couples. Otherwise I would give it 6 out of 10. It is a fantasy, time travel and a romance movie with a moving message for couples. So many people these days can't decide what would be a pleasant watch for both men and women, especially couples. Thus this would be a pleasant surprise for you.
While watching and after the movie it does feel like something is missing. Maybe it is writing? Maybe pacing? What could have made it better? Either way any movie that invites me to think about it the next day automatically gets some extra points. I hope this review was helpful!
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Not as bad as expected
As a successor of Lord of the Rings and with largest budget ever - this show was destined to either become all time success or be humbled. Sadly it is just not that good and fans and critics really hammered it down.
Now if you are a fan of the lore and you will come with these huge expectations - you will be hugely disappointed. That is clear and everyone understands it.
If you view it with no expectations, as a stand alone fantasy show and you don't know how much they spend to produce this - it is really not that bad. I would give it 5 out of 10.
Could it be better? Of course, no doubt! Average writing, average characters. Disconnect between situation, motivation and key character actions. Story is too jumpy for many. Tho, visually does look expensive and concludes a very average summary. On the other hand - it can be a great learning opportunity for Amazon. Lets hope next season will be much cheaper and much better!
Stealth (2005)
Really good movie!
Even though I just saw that movie yesterday, which is 5 years latter than the movie is released, I am still surprised with it...
I really enjoyed the movie and totally fall in love with it after watching special features.
I recommend to first watch the movie, then watch special features and watch the movie again..
I have read a ton of people review of this movie.. Some criticise five-grade dialogues... Well I am sorry but so "hard cricisism" of this movie is five-grade level:
- Every now and then a movie comes along that really makes you wonder at the depths of human nature, the very intricate framework that binds us together in society. Stealth is one such movie, if of course you replace "human nature" with "Jessica Biel's cleavage", and "intricate framework" with "mind-numbingly bad plot and acting".
If "Jessica Biel's cleavage" would blind me, and in that matter it would be all I see in movie, I would really rethink myself, maby I need some help?
There was another "compadre" who was seriously questioning worth of the movie saying, characters are copied and plot is too.. OK, even though I am pretty young and I have seen probably only all the best movies counting from yr 2000, I can honestly say that in all movies I can trace some similarities with another movies, and characters in them... So stating that movie is worthless just because I see some points that reflects to another movies is just childish...
And this is my favorite one, review written by Reel_World... His big point of why people should hate the this movie is CGI. Ummm, then everyone should hate "Avatar" which is considered the best movie of all times so far...
This is the actual topic of his review and I believe everyone should read it :D " Quite possibly the worst film of 2005 and definitely the worst film Cohen has ever made...., 1 August 2005 "
Now I seen the movie, and director Rob Cohen was explaining this idea in special features. According to him, this movie is something no one have made, the way he wants to deliver speed and thrill. So this basically means that movie is science fiction thriller. And one main point you can not apply to movies that are science fiction is reality and "the way things are in real life".
And that is what dear, Reel_World base his poor-rating on this movie. I would quote, but then I would have to quote this whole post, I just give for example short part:
- B) I don't know who the military adviser on this film was - there probably wasn't one - but I don't think fighter jets can do back flips while going 900mph...
Thats sound like a strong statement on science fiction movie.
And there were a lot of that kind of "critics".. That basically bombed the movie and that is why it did not had a good gross revenue..
Personally myself I feel really sorry for the whole team who was working on this movie, because some childish illiterates bombs the movie, and everyone knows that if critics bombs the movie, movie is almost doomed. I hope people who will read my review will understand that I am not saying that the movie is perfect or anything like that, but even if there are some floss in this movie, I still believe that is one of the better movies I have ever seen. I proudly say that this movie is worth 7-8 out of 10 and is way too down-graded.
I honestly bend down low before director, actors and the whole team. Cause at that point they were doing something what was never done before, and as for someone who does what have never done before they did extremely well.
Small note for who ever want to criticise my review: Have fun, I am 19 yr old, I am foreign, which makes extremely hard to express my ideas in English, and I can not even refer that I am a good critic, though I hope that my ideas about this movie will be helpful.
