Jakob der Lügner (1974)
A historically very significant east German movie
The role of Jacob is that he is a Jewish man who lives in Poland at the time of the Nazi-rule. He falsely tells a coworker about a radio he owns and he tells him good news about the Russian Army getting closer and closer everyday. This lie spreads quickly thru the Jewish ghetto and immediately all coworkers ask Jacob daily about news. In desperation Jacob makes up good news and spreads them around the ghetto. As the movie moves along it shows violence and prosecution of the Jewish people. At the end of the movie the ghetto including Jacob leave their home town and head in unknown direction. Jacob lied about the radio and spread good news to keep hope and live in his community. He did not reach his goal because his predictions of freedom of Jews never occurred.

M - Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder (1931)
One of the most thrilling movies at that time (1931)
Spoiler! The movie M is a very dramatic movie to watch. It is based on a true story so that makes the movie even more interesting to watch. The city is in shock when a children murderer is on the loose. The police desperately try to find him but fail in their mission. The presence of the police in the city appears to be very un comforting to a group of professional criminals. They decide to catch the murderer on their own. They use the help of homeless people who keep a lookout for the murderer. A blind homeless balloon salesperson recognizes the murderer on the sound of his whistling. Immediately everyone starts to follow the murderer. After a long hunt they finally manage to catch him. They try to prosecute the murderer without giving him a fair trial. The murderer confesses that he murdered but admits that he is mentally ill and that he has to kill to satisfy his sick mind. The criminals and the people of the city are still convinced to put the children murderer to death. As they approach him, the police enters the building and everyone stops.........
Die Brücke (1959)
A very nteresting movie that everyone should view
When I saw the title "Die Bruecke" I wasn't quite sure what to think. The title doesn't point out what the movie could be about, but when I watched it I found out why the title of the movie is "Die Bruecke". The movie was directed by Bernhard Wicky and in my opinion he has done an excellent job. "Die Brucke" is a classical movie but it has some qualities of some movies today. The preformance of the acting crew I found to be teriffic. "Die Brucke" is surely one of the most interesting movies I have ever viewed.
