Gulabo Sitabo (2020)
Just OK!
Nothing great about the movie. It seemed liked something will happen, but after an hour you realise that your expectations are in vain. Performance wise its a good movie, but why did they have to put that nose on Mirza? Why? Just to make him look different? Just to tell the audience that bollywood can do great makeup? A better script would have been great. And why do you shoot movies with a filter? To make Lucknow look beautiful? It is beautiful, do not need these tricks. Otherwise, the director and actors and the set and everything do justice and the rating is for them. The script disappoints!
It's Entertainment (2014)
Entertainment, really?? Only grace is the golden retriever
The movie starts with the statement that no animals were harmed during the shooting of this film, but let me warn you that the dog must have been bored to death dealing with this stuff. Well that is a type of harm (i assume!) The start of the movie goes well off but as the show (?) goes on this is just another 'Humshakals'. Repeat dialogues are not funny my dear friend/s. personally, i felt some dialogues were racist too!! of the star cast no one does justice to their part. also the sad part is that the screenplay is so messy and there seems to be no continuity. of all the lot prakash raj, johny lever and sood stand out (best in the worst). i dunno y these beautiful regional damsels agree to do these movies where they have no role at all. genuine opinion my beautiful ladies, stick to meatier regional roles rather than just trying to shine in bollywood. i hope u get my point tamannah (refresh: u did kallori n paiyaa n 100% love n etc etc). sajid farhad should do what they do best n just stick to writing i assume. the two stars are for the poor dog, johny lever, prakash raj n sonu sood. the only good thought i felt when the movie ended was - thank god its over!!! Stay away from the cinemas if u can for this flick!
Kick (2014)
Whats wrong with u Salman?
You read it right. Firstly, if you pulled your hair in Ek Tha Tiger, I request you not to indulge in this one how much ever a big fan of Salman Khan you may be. Well about the movie, its a bit too complicated for a normal Bollywood movie lover. I find it really difficult to understand Hollywood flicks because i don't enter a theater to wrack my brains but to entertain myself :| but this movie left the worst Hollywood mind bogglers far behind. The direction is awful (reminded me of the movie TEZZ-however there is no connection in the plot) music could be called just average, script is like 'just forget it' The only saving grace for this movie is going to be, it is a Salman starrer and there is Eid around the corner. All in all, I expected a lot much more from u Salman after this long break, but i guess u have learnt to disappoint me (Ek tha tiger, Dabanng 2 n now this one!) There is no doubt that this will b a bumper hit but it definitely doesn't deserve being one! Bhai, hope u don't disappoint us next time :)
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014)
Well, why r KJo movies becoming so predictable nowadays?
Firstly, I am a very big fan of Varun Dhawan, secondly I am a fan of KJo, thirdly I do not dislike Aalia Bhatt, however I have to say I have been disappointed and I was wondering if I could file a police complaint against Dharma Productions (for ticket plus popcorn and 3 hours time loss) for falsely propagating 'just another movie' as a 'special one'. Well to speak of the movie, just all the fans are gonna love it. Its just a typical masala KJo movie. Stars, fancy dresses, fancier locations and a not so fancy script (remember ek main aur ek tu? this is an example. gladly the two movies have no resemblance). There's nothing to complain about anything wrong being done in the movie, but its just so predictable and mainstream that all the lovely sets and lovely actors don't make up for the loss/waste of time in the end. All said and done, watch it as there is no major release till Eid BUT at your own risk. I am off to the nearest police station.....
Ek Villain (2014)
Crime Patrol on the Big Screen!
Watch this movie if you are either a Crime Patrol or Rithesh Deshmukh fan. Nothing else to add! As mentioned, except Rithesh Deshmukh's performance none of the actors leave a mark. Not that they are bad, its just not that they leave a mark. Music is good, so is the background score. Direction is something I don't want to comment, as it could have been way way better, since the script is good but not done justice to. I don't know why they have labelled this as a thriller (coz i suppose there is no genre as violence). The best thing about the movie is that it is around when not many releases are seen, however the negative point happening for the movie could/would/should be the holy month of Ramadan around the corner. Give this is a miss if you just don't wanna kill time. Worth a watch once in the cinemas (just once); definitely worth watching when the DVD is out.
Humshakals (2014)
Please don't torture yourself!
Yes you read it right! Actually i can sum up the whole review in just 3 words - WASTE OF TIME, but since I have to reach the maximum of 10 lines i will just have to continue. Well who doesn't know nowadays what Sajid Khan is incapable of so I don't think there is much needed about the direction part. Music is 'not music' to the ears. Performance wise - just forget it. All in all this is a movie which you should avoid even if it comes on TV without ads, because if you spend those 2+ hours staring at the ceiling will be better. The movie falls flat in almost all aspects. Well not almost it does fall flat in all aspects! A note to Sajid Khan - Please do not make any more movies coz we are better without such torture in the name of Indian Cinema.
Main Tera Hero (2014)
Its a David Dhawan Movie after all. No brain only fun!!!
Well I have to admit I disagree with most reviews here, after all who doesn't know what David Dhawan is famous (infamous?) for. This is a comedy where you should not think too much, well you shouldn't think at all. Varun does his 'over acting' part with grace and charm. The two dolls do what they are supposed to do in 'masala entertainment' bollywood movies. Hats off to the director for this venture. The script/plot (not the story) could have been made better though, but I guess we cannot have a Hera Pheri or Taare Zameen Par or Barfi every Friday. I may be partial because I love Bollywood movies to the core, but this movie is a zillion times better than the news channels pouring out gibberish at this point of time. STATUTORY WARNING-When you see this movie keep your brains back home and just enjoy it with a popcorn.
Chennai Express (2013)
ShahRukh you have grown up, please allow your roles to too
Firstly, maybe Im disappointed because I'm a die-hard SRK fan. After I came our of the theater, the question I asked SRK was, 'why ShahRukh why?'. Rohit Shettys humor has fallen flat on the face this time. Instead of bringing smiles it brought more frowns to my face. To call actors singing songs to convey messages and other goons just watching them, sometimes even joining them is OK for a couple of seconds, but it then irritates. Watching Deepika doing 'God knows what was that' thing on bed while asleep is utterly ridiculous. 5 to 6% percent of the dialogues are 'greek' to most of the Bollywood cinema crowd. SRK you were and still are the 'King of Romance' and you prove it in a couple of scenes. The scene on the walk up the 300 stairs to the temple and 'sindoor scene' is good, the scene in Rameshwaram where Deepika says she will live in Pune and u ask her to stay with you in Bombay is good, the scene of you trying to pull Deepika up in the train was LOVINGLY NOSTALGIC. Music is impressive, choreography (?) is pathetic. To even judge the actors would be wrong, all r perfect when it comes to acting. All in all SRK i still enjoy watching Ra-One, but you have genuinely disappointed me this time. Nevertheless, I shall always be your fan, one bad movie doesn't change anything at least for me. SRK I wanna c u in a mature romantic movie, I think its the right/perfect time to move on and not make further mistakes.
Gangoobai (2012)
Dare to Dream!!
Exactly, dare to dream. A simple story told so beautifully, you just wish the movie wouldn't end. How a simple heart can touch millions of people is just something which we know exists, but find hard to believe. Particular is the scene where the designer (R Zutshi)rushes and demands to know from Mita Vasisht, who the 'bai' is who has taken over a well known client, and the bai (Sarita Joshi) says innocently 'Upar wale ne kya kala dee hai aapke haatho may...' These simple words spoken in a true manner touch him so much that his anger just evaporates in seconds. A terrified/skeptical Sarita Joshi comes from Matheran to Mumbai 'just' to purchase a Saree. Its 'just' a Saree to us, but its her dream. Shes toiled hard for four years, working endlessly and skipping meals so that she could save money for her dream. Mita Vasisht as usual does her job well. Purab Joshi is getting better as an actor, although he has yet to learn a lot, but I'm sure he will. The dusky model (sorry i don't know her name) is good. She should work on her dialect. The parsi millionaire and his grandson have done justice to their part. However, the showstopper (like as said in the movie about the 'dream' Saree) is Sarita Joshi. Everyone started admiring her talent from Baa Bahu Aur Baby, and here she has delivered her best performance to date. Krishnaswamy Priya has done a fabulous job and obviously the entire credit goes to him. I wish NFDC would make more movies, meaningful movies. I miss movies like Karamaati Coat, Woh Chokri, etc. All in all, watch it, n I'm sure you will love it.
